- As we come to an end of this ride and exploration of some awesome West Coast areas, we continue to take the best roads to explore some history that is behind the West Coast.
Embark on the ultimate solo road trip and discover the fascinating history of Westland's past. From the famous Denniston Incline to the stunning Denniston Plateau, this adventure is not to be missed! Hop on my Guzzi Griso or motorcycle and explore the hidden gems of the West Coast.
The riches in the hills on the West Coast cemented a culture of mining in the region. Since the 1800's the West has been mining coal and gold.
With no doubt Westland has some of the best roads in the country, and with that, an opportunity to visit areas to appreciate what life was like before today.
Discovering Westland's Past is something brings an appreciation to life before today
Taking time to appreciate the past, including family who were involved int he industry of old.
Thanks to the Archives New Zealand for some historical film • Pictorial Parade No. 1... Check out the full video at the link.

Never get tired of the vistas we have in our own backyard ..spectacular
I know just what you mean... I spent some time yesterday traveling through an area that I have not been and was blown away by the vista... So different from the Coast, but totally unique in ways. Looking forward to sharing in due time. 🙂
Great episode! Loving the photos from '94
Ha ha a step back into the past, well before I was on two wheel in any great way. 😀
Great Guzzi roads and beautiful scenery

Cheers And thank you😁😁
NIce
Cheers thanks heaps
Another great video , my rule of thumb with weather is if I can see through it , ii'll carry on but if I can't then it's a stop and put the wets on.
I have become much the same, I once used to stop and change as soon as the first drop hit me, now I look for any reason not to put the wets on. 😆😀
Was that a 2-pie lunch Q? Hardcore 😅 Another fascinating and beautiful instalment, cheers Ghosty 😎
Ha ha ham kinda a 2 pie, one was the goat, and the other was a sweet one, though cant recall the flavor now, but it was delicious 😆 Thanks heaps for watching
Damn we need to bring back double denim!
Haha, that was style back then. I had a denim jacket that went with that. The only thing better than double Denim is triple denim🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
@@Coolcrazyq If double or triple denim ever makes a comeback I'll 100% rock it right next to you!
That's the spirit, maybe the time is now !!!!🤣😂
lol no coal coming from Denniston now....altho that could change if permission to mine it there is granted to Bathurst Talleys Mining who own the Stockton mine.
I would imagine the earth would still remain pretty rich up there. Finding the right mix to provide employment and growth to the West Coast would be awesome. The line between that and the environment is the battle, which will be difficult to win.
@@Coolcrazyq The area with coal thats viable to mine is tiny compared to the whole area (try find the stockton mine on satellite view on google maps without typing in the search bar)....and as they found last time when the snail debacle happened, none of the wildlife found in the areas being looked at for mining is found solely in the places that they are looking to mine.
