Great review. "If you see one, pick one up." I have said the same thing to people. Glad to see we agree.

Great review... I am a Sound Engineer with over 35 years in the recording industry. I got one of these mics in my collection. The studios have the very expensive mics, like Neuman, AKG 414, etc But for the price of this mic you can't beat it. It sounds great! and the low frequencies is not that big of a deal since the difference is not that big and one most of the time use EQ if necessary. There are moments in which you need that low frequencies. Low voice mystery vo's, documentaries etc. Go get one, they are now more expensive around $99.00

It's a little heavy on the low end, but damn does it sound nice there. I would probably use it on lower range instruments. See how it records like a tenor sax or bari even. Bet it gives extra body in a lot of the right places.

Good review! I got to try one of these when I was looking for my first "real" microphone and I thought it was a really good value. I eventually settled on a NEAT King Bee which is also deeply discounted ($100 instead of $350).

2 years later and they are still here...$73 at SW...I just order one after listening to your review. I agree with others that the bass sounds great, especially of your voice.

Amazing review! And my voice is severely LACKING in bass so that would be the perfect microphone to bring the little bass present in my voice more to the front. Plus, in post is where I adjust EQ and such so I think it’ll be a great choice.

    Thanks for the review!
As somebody who would like to have my natural deeper voice tones conveyed, I hope this is a good value. I just bought one for about ~$70.00

Which mic is Best for Voice over ?
    Akg 420 or Mxl ?

    • @CaneMajor

The V67G handles my voice better than my AKG P220 and the 420 has the same diaphragm as the 220. So I would lean more towards the MXL mic.

    Thank you!
I'll share your video, great review of the microphones, I don't even know how to thank you.
I really liked them both. The V67g gives more body and leaves your voice with more presence than the 2 akg, having a slightly more settled bass.
In the recordings of the flutes, what I noticed was a more open and vibrant sound on the v67g. In the akg a little more muffled / closed, but with a slightly better and linear sound balance.
In my country converting to dollars, the akg p220 is $ 9.00 more expensive than the mxl v67g.
A doubt that I had, does the v67g have in the packaging a protection / suitcase to store or transport it?
In this reality of values, would you advise taking which one?
Thanks in advance for the video, I already imagined that you would buy a mic to test. Anyway, thank you very much from musician to musician!

After watching several videos about this microphone, I seem to be consistently hearing a croaky quality in the mids, and a kind of fake airiness in the highs.

    What interface do you use?

    • @CaneMajor
      @CaneMajor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hello! In my studio I use a USB mixer. But when I do use an interface I use a Focusrite 2i2. I'm still using the first generation 2i2 and it does everything I need it to do. Cheers
