Oh yes! I like that idea! Make him a bit bigger (not much, perhaps 15-20% - so he is more in line with older toys), add head articulation, perhaps a new forearm joint for the kibble on the sides (so the arm gets a bit more beef overall) and, of course, a good paint job. Perhaps the range of the waist swivel could be a bit more improved as well.
And then... bring on the repaints!

My biggest gripe with this OP is it doesn't scale with anything mainline. But it is so good, I will just buy it just because i want it. It'll just stand on top of my computer monitor without anything else.
Based on the video I think it scales pretty well with the studio series bayverse prime. Roughly same height, and the size of the head is similar as well.

I wasn't expecting much of this figure when I got him. He was admittedly an impulse buy when I hadn't seen anything new for Legacy in weeks. I am glad I grabbed him and Primal, they're both fun, posable, solid figures!
I'd be into it a bit if it was cheaper, but it isn't. It's the same price as a regular voyager in the US. Should've only been deluxe price or maybe $28 max.
Looking at it, the budget probably went most to the articulation which requires more number of parts and molds. But if a upscaled KO will be released with better paint application, i think I would buy that
@ArnyX These really aren't worth it. Primal is a dumbed down version of the Kingdom one with less features and costs more then it did when it came out. Optimus' plastic choices alone show this was a lot more cheaply made. Way too much paint for color correction. It looks like a decent mold but it isn't worth the asking price, especially when the SS one looks better and will be the same price.
You US collectors are so pampered.

Also, wanna note that on that, I do really like Primal despite knowing full well he isn't worth what I paid in the least. New trailer came out that day and I went to Walmart and he was just packed on the shelf, couldn't resist monkey.
I was thinking that, even though this isn't the best voyager OP we've gotten, it's among the best mainline movie OPs, and is a nice progression from the TLK version. It's just the next in the dynasty of movie Primes!
It's "among the best mainline movie OPs"? Surely you jest. The best movie line OP to this day is the leader class OP from The Revenge of the Fallen movie. Next to that, the voyager version of the OP ROTF movie figure (battle blades OP?). Even the first voyager scale Transformer 2007 is better, even if it is not accurate, it looks great in both robot and alt modes.
It's a good option if it's your first Optimus prime figure, it's very sturdy and very poseable for action shots, I wish the head had more movement, but it's a good mold for a KO

something people definitely don't talk enough about is the fact that yeah the feet in truck mode are not amazing looking but are here so he can use the earthrise (and most) trailer! which is an insane attention to detail

Other than small figures, I don't think I've bought a movie figure of Prime since the 07 Leader. I got this and I really like it. I do like having it displayed next to Primal. The lack of ball joint neck is puzzling, though.
For me, my favorite would be the Last Knight Voyager Prime! They amped it up real good after what they did with the Age of Extinction version!
I picked mine up from Walmart after making the tough call to choose Prime over Primal. But since then, I’ve been having fun playing with the figure and weaponizing him with the weaponizer figures. I even whipped out a black and a gold sharpie to color in his front hip skirts. Surprisingly, the texture of the plastic makes using sharpies very easy to detail
I can't agree with you on this one man, this figure feels so cheap for what you pay. It's $35 which is more expensive than the old Studio series. Bumblebee Optimus and it feels like it's made of half the plastic with a third of the paint.
It doesn't feel fun to pose for me, I like that all the joints are nice and tight but the seriously feels like a 15 to $20 Figure to me if that.
The only thing that saddens me for this Optimus, well his ROTB design anyway, is they removed the red on his stomach. So, it looks like he isn't wearing pants.
I feel like they should Give the gray area a paint job they should use a dark gray so the blue and red parts can stand out also use some airbrush to give the gray area somewhat of a silver shine. Yeah. Possibly make the toy a little larger so he can have like the sword pop out or the arm could have cannons it with an a socket or possibly. next time they doing this, they should really have Optimus axe It’s very iconic. I do like the way that this Optimus prime and transform they really replicate what they do it within the movie they should keep that
This RoTB Optimus looks good, would be great if it is bigger and more paint works applied. My personal favorites are SS, Battle blade and Evasion. By the way, where's did you get the hand cannon in 2:51?

This prime is my first Transformer in about 10 years, so this became an instant favourite of mine from the moment I bought him. The posing is fantastic and he looks really good on my shelf with the Deluxe class ROTB bumblebee I got recently. Overall I really like this prime and I hope that the rest of the transformers I buy are this good.

I still have a soft spot for DotM Cyberfire Optimus Prime as that was my first voyager class ever. Also the mechtech gun axe was cool.
$3 cheaper in the US? Yeah, that's what all the sources said it would be, but all of the ones I have seen have been standard $35 voyager price, which was already a tough pill to swallow for real voyagers. For this thing, that price is fucking insulting.
Evasion Optimus is my favorite movie Optimus. I bought the two pack version with flames to pair off with Aeon Wheeljack and VW Bumblebee, and I also got the rusty three pack version(which is severly underated) and the Takara Nemesis version. It’s an amazing mold/design I don’t think will ever be outdone.
If a KO company redid this, made it bigger, added MOAR paint, and tweaked the feet transformation, it would blow the Buzzworthy SS102 prime out of the water.

If they wasted less paint on fixing what should have been molded in the correct colors, and made him cheaper, it would be good.
A good solid Voyage prime with pinned wheels/articulation/tight joints. Is only undersized and could use a bit more paint. Definitely holding out for the Studio Series one or whenever the preorder for that one goes up. Battle Blades used to be my favorite Voyager, but recently i find the transformation an over engineered mess (much better suited for the Leader) and not a fan of soft plastic bendy blades. Truck mode however trumps anything Bayverse Studio Series Prime has thus far attempted. New favorite I think is either the Siege mold or the Premium Edition Bee Studio series Prime as it looks spectacular in both modes. The new rendition however does a really good job of cleaning up the arm kibble, and solidifies the legs a lot better. Alt mode also very mean looking.
I also have Premium Finish Bumblebee Movie Prime. Thing looks incredible. I love it.
As soon as I'm able to find him, I'm gonna pick him up. And of course as soon as SS BBB Prime is available for Pre-Order or whatever, I'm 100% getting him too.
I was just in Walmart for diapers but saw this Prime which I never thought I’d see in my Walmart. I was watching this video to help me decide to spend $49.98. The articulation you highlighted in here convinced me! Thank you for the great and real review!!

Oh man I had this Prime toy and out of all the awesome DOTM toys he SUUUUUUUCKED. His front would NEVER tab in, the wheels always flopped around, he was always super stiff and his ratchets SQUEAKED, the side tanks never tabbed in along with the roof, and overall the only decent part was his head sculpt with his awsome purple light Piping. And that’s IT.
Battle Blades’s got that ROTF engineering that no one can compete with.
My only ''complaint'' is the lack of ball joint at the head. But besides that, it's such a great figure

He’s definitely a better Autobot figure compared to the other Autobot mainline toys. But I’m too much in love with the way the SS ROTB Optimus looks.
While I do question why the SS one is coming to BWB first, I’m not too much torn up about it. I mean if the actual SS release of the figure has differences in certain areas of the figure that’ll look better than the BWB release then that’s one thing. However the price isn’t a big dealbreaker. Mainly because, from what I’ve seen in the U.S., the BWB prices are the same as the other lines’ prices. BWB Jazz and N.E.S.T Rachet are both $24.99, same as current Legacy and SS Deluxe figures. N.E.S.T Bonecrusher is $34.99, same as Legacy Voyagers, SS Voyagers, and the mainline ROTB Optimus figure.
The last time I saw a more expensive BWB figure was with Origins Bumblebee. But I haven’t seen a BWB figure being more expensive than the other lines since then. Unless the BWB ROTB Optimus is confirmed to have a price that’s higher than the other voyager figures.
In Canada BWB figures come to "Toys R Us" which upcharges on Hasbro products on top of a further upcharge because its an exclusive. Origin Bumblebee was fine with pricing but it only got worse after that. A good example of how stupid it is is though Kup. Normally you'd pay around $30 CAD for him but for the BWB one with better paint apps. Around $50. In other words ROTB Prime will probably be around $60-70 for Canadians. So Awesome!
@@LaneBassingthwaite Well that sucks. It feels like Canada has higher prices for a lot of the toys that come to it’s stores. Does it affect the BWB prices on HasbroPulse as well?
@@jaydonmagan4694 Not really since you'd be buying straight from America. However shipping is quite expensive so it's hard to justify for just one figure.
@@LaneBassingthwaite Depends on if the shipping prices vary from country to country. When I checked HasbroPulse for Tarn, I’m pretty sure it said the shipping price was $6. Now I’d imagine there’s probably a price range that allows you to have free shipping-usually meaning you buy more than one thing that rounds higher above $50 or so-though I haven’t been able to fully check that yet.
But if the shipping cost isn’t as egregious as the store costs in Canada, it’d probably still be the better option to order online. The only other option then would be to just wait for discounts, sales, or for the figure to release in the SS line.
Just paint the lower torso red, leave the ab area alone or paint metallic silver, some blue to the lower legs, white for the hip/skirt
I was definitely considering this over the studio, especially as a toy to regularly mess with, you’ve sold me. This is better than I realised. Might have to grab primal to go with him
I was able to snag the SS RotB Optimus and recently the SS Primal but it’s been really fun messing with this mainline voyager. I’d even say just a tad bit more fun to pose than SS38 and I *love* that mold to death.
Fun fact: If you flip the panels on the arms you can make it look like his blades or even his hooks.
I have a tip for legacy bulkhead. If you don’t like how his mace looks too much animateds version or think that it’s inaccurate to how it appears in prime. Swap it out and replace with battletraps. Note: I really like legacy bulkhead but this is just a tip for others who have there own opinions on it.
I painted this figure myself, and it is hands-down, my favorite movie Optimus Prime! On a shelf displayed with my other primes, he is the same size as the original Optimus prime!

Went searching for this prime in a lot of places in my city but I just couldn’t find him, until yesterday when I went to the closest Walmart and somehow he was there. That Walmart has the worst toy aisle I have seen, it’s like just two shelves.
Tfp voyager prime is my fav, its not anything near the first edition prime, but its up there. I love how weird the transformation is because it reminds me of the first time movie prime transformed in the first movie. Its missing a waist and wrist swivel and the legs are limited to its weird waist design but its still super posable and looks good with my other bots including the legacy prime stuff
Overall I think my favorite Voyager class Movie Optimus Prime is the Evasion Mode - and from all variants of that I think the Takara version from the "Movie The Best" line (what a dumb name for a line) takes the crown. The base figure gives you the Optimus design from the first three movies (albeit more simplified), but the vehicle is the more classic G1 inspired truck. The Takara deco then combines Optimus classic colours with the beat up look from the beginning of the movie (at least in truck mode). The transformation can be a bit frustrating, but once you get the hang of it, it feels very intuitive. Though this one is definitely a Transformers toy, where you have to learn how to handle it! Especially with regards to the elbows. But the more often you pose him, you will realize where his strengths and weaknesses are and learn to find ways to play out the strengths and compensate the weaknesses.
Studio Series 38 Optimus Prime (from the Bumblebee movie) is a close second for me. I recommend to get the Premium Finish version, cause it is very nice in hand. But I get why some people do not like that version or why it does not "feel" Premium enough to them. The normal Hasbro release works fine, if you can still get it for a decent price. Otherwise I recommend one of the KOs from the mold, which turned out very nice as well.
So far I had no the chance to handle the ROTB mainline Voyager Optimus - but he looks like a fun toy to me. Compared to what we have seen so far from the upcoming Studio Series ROTB Voyager, I prefer the mainline release. From what we have seen the shoulders appear to have very limited articulation (they remind me BB Voyager Soundwave shoulders) and i think the position of the knee joint appears to be way off.
Yeah the mix of g1 and bayverse in that design makes it one of my favorite designs in all media
i like the SS32s transformation the best plus the fact he can do both the Jetfire combo AND the Jetwing trailer is great plus, he shares all the articulation of this figure except instead of an abcrunch forward, he has a backward ab crunch, which i do think is worse, but he has same joints, more size, same articulation as this plus a mix of my two favorite optimus prime figures, the TFP First Edition and the 2014 Evasion Prime ones which I like a lot more than the classic G1 figures, which i feel is way too simple
I just can't love this design as much as everyone does. Compared to the Bumblebee movie, he's too much gray and silver with some parts red and blue, he has all this mechanical details on his body that makes it confusing instead of the more pleasing design from the previous movie. Also this figure looks like it's made of Lego if you look at it from far

I really love this Prime, when I got mine I added more color like the red to his waist and more silver instead of grey, and I carefully dremeled off the weird trapezoids on his smokestacks, they were unnecessary in robot mode and they really break up the classic silhouette of the truck mode for me
Expensive as F here in the Philippines. $58. Last year voyager prices were just like around $35 to $40. Was surprised when I saw the price increase.
This prime is really good, but I do agree that it would’ve benefited from having metallic silver paint or plastic and a ball joint head. It’s a mini masterpiece
Although this Prime looks great, I'm personally going to wait for the SS one, because that one looks soooo good. Also to answer the question for my favorite voyager prime, I'm actually going to have to give it to Classics Optimus, I know there are others that are objectively better, ER Optimus being to best example, but Classics Prime just holds too much nostalgia for me as being my first ever Optimus figure I had as a kid
I like him. I do agree he needs more paint but other than that i think he's a great figure. I'm holding off for a while on buying figures though to make sure i have enough for Armada Prime.

This retails in the Uk for £29.99, that’s not £9 cheaper than anything mainline. If anything it’s the most expensive a voyager has been that isn’t a studio series. It is £9 cheaper than battletrap but mainline and studio series have always been different prices in the Uk.
Cool toy, though I wish it got repainted or retooled into nother character. As for my favorite Prime: Siege for robot mode (with ER as a close second), SS Bumblebee for truck mode. This, however, could easily change if I ever get my hands on that Volvo one.

Was probably gonna pass on this guy, especially with the buzzworthy one coming, but my Walmart had this for 50% off because the box was damaged, so I figured why not. Really good figure in hand.

I'd go all out and say this probably has one of the best proportion among all the movie primes. I would have no problem with them just upscaling this and add a few hinge to fold away some panels and call it a studio series leader prime. I honestly don't know whether this is better proportioned, or the newly leaked SS leader prime takes the win.

Where in the UK is this £25 instead of £34? Because if would love to now. I have loomed at over 200 retailers, most are out of stock at 34 and those that still have it are 34 to 36.

I gotta say my favorite prime is still Earthrise. It’s the G1 Prime I always wanted.
My favorite voyager Optimus to this day's the Siege mold. And I was lucky enough to get the 35th anniversary edition without much trouble.
But the new ROTB SS might be a serious contender for the spot, IF ONLY I CAN GET MY HANDS ON HIM!

I custom painted my copy and with that he is really nice....but the mainline as a whole seems to miss all the paint apps. And note all the classed with the mainline is size class and not price class....so maybe he is this size because they wanted primal and rhinox this size?
It would be better if the canon had a orange part in their to make it look like he was about to shoot
Went to Walmart earlier to pick this thing up. I get to the self checkout and it’s $38. I just put it back. It’s sad that the figures have gotten smaller and so much more expensive.

I just picked one up and other then the paint i like how it looks i rarely get main line Primes so this was a nice pick up for me a more Beast wars fan
I know he's not part of the Studio Series line but come on Hasbro, ya could've given my boy some more love when it came to the paint apps
My personal favorite voyager prime is probably either Earthrise or Legacy G2 Prime. I really love the Earthrise mold but also the tabs on my copy that connect the chest to the stomach are kinda loose. It's not so bad that it just flops off willy-nilly, but it doesn't take much for him to literally go tits up. The G2 one is amazing, I love the proportions and the shoulder missile gimmick, the trailer is much better, and the possibility is pretty much as good as Earthrise, except for the shoulders. As much as I love the shoulders, they do have a tendency to get in the way. But other than those small issues, they're both really amazing IMO and I can't wait for the Armada Prime.
I have a KO SS 38 and Buzzworthy SS 44 and I love them both
... If Wei Jiang was still around, they'd make a unit of an MP figure and tweak the mechanics to make it an insane and very awesome transformation.
In my opinion what it lacks is accsesories like we only got the ion blaster btw was not is rotb and we didnt get any other weapon but anyways its a cool figure for me I own it and It has no flaws on my copy so yeah
I modded my SS32 prime and painted him so I'm a little bias but he's my favorite Voyager prime and I've had battle blades
Earthrise is my favorite Optimus Prime figure because of the G1 nostalgia it gives me followed by the legacy Armada Optimus Prime 🤩
