Ah, this was my first Optimus Prime when I was a kid (maybe around the age of 10). I remember obsessing over the light piping because the eyes are intricately molded
@@DespairMisery oh i get what you mean. Tho still its the only one to date. And realized this prime has the altmode from the original teaser trailer from 2006
this toy was given to me by my grandfather as my first proper Optimus Prime toy and by far the biggest one i got up to that point, and i remember i was quite young at the time and though i was grateful, i was a little disappointed that it wasn't the one i thought it was (iirc i wanted the ROTF Leader one). my grandfather's no longer with us now, so my relationship with that toy has changed: the joints are loose, the wheel arches are floppy, and the cab door gimmick no longer tabs in properly, but i'll never get rid of it now because it was such an important gift from my grandfather that got me even more into transformers overall
By Primus… it’s been a looooong time since I’ve heard someone talk about this specific figure. I remember I got this on my birthday before I hit the first grade, and I _STILL_ have him to this day, albeit, a couple of parts missing (side leg flaps that make the cabin, the shoulder guards, and the missiles). But other than that, still in perfect condition.
Mine doesn't even have his head. He also missing one of the flaps, the missiles (both the launchers and projectiles) and he has no shoulder guards. My brother Anthony uses it for a zombie.
This one for the first movie without the flames was my first Optimus toy at 7 years old. I remember being disappointed getting Leader Megatron instead of Optimus for Christmas and got this instead. But I was just happy getting an Optimus.
@@Patolagos let me list what it does have still: front grill(missing the autobot insignia), left shoulder pad, left arm guard(but is broken and has a piece of paper keeping the friction nubs in place), and the right leg mudflaps
Oh damn, I still have this one since the day I got it when I was 10 yo. My first and oldest Optimus, not the best, but still love this big ol' robot jesus
Even though these figures are outdated for today’s standards and technology, those two gimmicks in vehicle mode are so charming and just makes me smile, accuracy isn’t always everything, sometimes it’s a little bit of heart also
To this day I find the legs to be the most clever optimus legs we ever got. ANd you can fiddle with the backpack and guns to have a VERY cool shoulder canon mode, look up the Promo shot of the rotf defender optimus repaint for reference
As far as Bayverse Voyagers go, the 2007 Optimus mold is exactly why I was glad to skip out until 2010's Hunt for the Decepticons post-RotF filler line brought the fantabulousness that is the Battle Blade mold, which I didn't get right then when it was on store shelves (it was like 2014 or 2015 when I got the DotM Battle Hook repaint in a trade).
Got the Defender repaint during a time when ROTF figures showed back up all over the place in retails stores in my area in the middle of like 2012 or something it was INSANE Enjoyed him quite a bit and planned on using it as a stand in Magnus when I got another Prime to go with him
This was a nostalgia trip. I had this figure, in this deco no less, when I was a kid, and I had a tone of fun with it, though it did eventually got replaced by the DOTM Ultimate Optimus Prime as my go to Optimus toy when playing with them
I have the original one from the 2007 line. It still is my main optimus in my display mostly because of the size, he just has a level of presence the SS one doesn't have.
Found one of these junkers in a toy thrift shop, then ordered another junker to combine the missing parts together then sold off that extra junker to someone that apparently needed it. Still don't have the smokestack guns.
This was my first voyager Optimus Prime. I remember being dissapointed on how simple the transformation was (especially compared to the masterpiece like leader class version)
This was the toy that got me to start buying Transformers figures for the movies when the second movie came out. The smoke stacks I would take off to use as swords and the front grill of the truck as a shield (sliding it over the back of the arm plate)
The Chinese characters are 大将(big general) and 上海将军(Shanghai General). Glad that someone acknowledged the fact that Optimus's legs flip around from the back during transformation. I have been trying to figure out how to implement a film-accurate transformation to a toy for years.
I bought this guy back last year at my local thrift store sealed since it first came out with some box damage for only $30, I opened him up and messed with him and can safely say he's one of my favorite figures to have in my collection.
The 07 version was my first and even though his back always irritated the crap outta me, there’s alot of nostalgia I get whenever I see it on my shelf. Glad I kept him.
I had a battle damage version of this figure with a lot of black scorching for the deco, but the most unfortunate thing is that it was missing it's arms. And eventually someone got rid of it behind my back because it was broken. Sad.
I really remember this as the first transformer toy I got (I think it was a ROTF box set cuz it also had an RC and a Starscream) but I had no idea what style transformers were going with back then cuz the SECOND set of transformers I got that year was an Energon/Cybertron combiner set of Prowl and a red firetruck I don't remember the name of, and the styles were so completely different but I didn't care at all
I HAD THIS BOY!!! I'm 100% sure I also had the other ROTF optimus the one that had like one big double sided pamphlet to transform, I think it was the leader class, unless there's one that's really similar to it, but I vividly remember it being the most detailed figure, or even toy/replica I've owned to this day
One of the only movie Prime molds I have never owned. Even back in the day I was turned off by the huge chunk of truck on the back (and I'd spent a lot on the leader figure). I kind of regret it now cause it does some cool stuff, but we've gotten better voyager primes so I'm not too sad.
Still have the original from when the first movie came out. One of the only toys I decidedly painted the grey bits over with silver paint including the weapons as the grey looked too dull on the original. Can't say the paint treatment has aged well though. Not the biggest fan of the auto transformation, however loved the idea of a flip up hologram driver, and how well it was integrated into the alt mode.
The way he holds the gun is weird but actually kinda smart. I hope third party companies use this technique for figures that can't hold there weapons well
Love this video! Thanks! It was my first large movie Optimus. The truck front unpegs pretty easily for better posing, and less back kibble. Also, you can swivel the smokestacks into robot-mode shoulder cannons.
Holly shit I have this one! He was one of the first transformers my parents bought me. He was fun because he was very articulateble. Compared to some of the other ones I’ve got it’s not very good but okay. He’s also in terrible condition and missing parts.
Fun fact about myself: I learned how to write thanks to this movie. My dad bought me an Optimus Prime Voyager Class figure from 2007, and I would go to TH-cam with the toy's box, looking back and forth from the box to the keyboard, letter by letter, trying to find videos about Transformers toys
Literally had every version of this prime. The one with the really detailed accurate asf painting, robovision, the shangai prime, the regular version and i think that’s it for the legit versions. Could be more but those are the only ones i was ever able to pick up. Nostalgia is booming rn
I got my own copy of this Prime (Mine's is the 2007 movie version) and it was my first figure I was only a child, lost many parts btw but still very good figure
This was my first non passed down g1 Optimus Still my favorite toy to this day except it’s broken to bits and most are missing I really wanna have this again prime is my favorite and I have no toys so sad
God I really want this spesific optimus prime figure. With all those backpack kible. That backpack so big carrying my childhood memories. And the color man really capture my teenage edgy era. Would pick this up from any other prime figures.
Just picked this guy up at a local shop today. May not be the best Optimus ever but I still enjoy it for it's weirdness. Plus hologram cowboy guy in cab that no Optimus did after this mold is just a cool detail.
Woah i finaly found a video of the first transformer i have ever owned, man this brings so much memories especially the little figure in the drivers seat lol that and the guns where the only things that helped me find it again
This was one of my first Prime moulds, though it was broken to hell. The cab was missing several pieces and made the legs somehow look more movie accurate. So I guess that was a perc. Despite its odd nature, it's still a pretty good toy overall.
I was able to get the OG version of this figure sealed for pretty cheap(got it bundled with a sealed 2007 Starscream for like 50). My dumbass opened it lmao but it is hella fun to mess with, and at least the upper body is accurate to the 2007 movie tie in comic, which probably explains the really cool Holo-Driver gimmick! Great video!
Hey, i got this one when i was a kid. Many years passed, and now i'm looking if they sell some of the pieces of this figure to get mine complete again.
Thanks for this video! I think he was my 2nd large movie figure, after Bumblebee. He’s cool! You can actually use the flip over guns in robot mode (might have to flip the mounts and reattach). It leans the fuel tanks on his shoulders, which looks more accurate, and kind of balances his weight. The truck front on his back can sort of unsnap and disconnect, but I wouldn’t recommend…
For how weird this figure looks, that holo-driver gimmick genuinely had me shocked for a moment. I just love that so much.
Sometimes its the little things that mean the most
Fun fact the "holo driver" in the comics is Peter cullen!
I love the holo-driver gimmick. However, after trying it only a few times, the driver’s door will now randomly pop open.
I thought maybe something loosens so the door fails to latch after a while. No that I’m again reminded, I’ll go check that…
