I lowkey hate American Girl dolls. I’m not that familiar with the brand but I always thought the name of the brand seems very patriotic & the fact the dolls are so expensive & often get associated with middle to even upper class spoiled children makes it even worse to me. I find the faces of the dolls really ugly & they are apparently supposed to be like 8 or 10 years old or something but they look like creepy toddler dolls to me 😭 I always get extremely confused why there’s quite a few fashion doll collectors - who usually despise toddler type dolls but them totally go crazy for them. I don’t get it LMAO
They honestly WERE initially branded as patriotic, but went under the name Pleasant Company initially. I got my first American Girl doll myself for about $30 and I'm not impressed either. Definitely seems more like a $30 doll than...$80+. I think I prefer My Life As or My Generation more xD

@@Zhade11 Awww, as a kid I got the playhouse cave and a couple of trolls. (Covert narcissist monster LOL) I thought they were cute and liked the little cave house. I have 1/12 scale dollhouses now LOL, but I still see the troll house on eBay sometimes and get wistful 🥲♥️
Besides the ones mentioned in the video, one of the doll brands i think is pretty ugly is boxy girls. another square headed doll with square eyes that just look wrong to me- and not really any good fashion to make up for the weird heads.
I think the reason lines like snap stars and art squad don't work is because they mix the realistic face sculpts with the unrealistic body proportions so it sits in that perfect uncanny valley. Whereas lines like bratz and LoL OMG really lean into the cartoon proportions and have faces to match so it just goes straight into stylistic choice. Also hard agree with the diva stars!! My friend had one when we were kids and it was like the bastard child of a furby and a highschool teen drama show. The feet had to be that big to house the electricals and weigh it down so it didn't go flying when it whipped its head around. Scared the hell out of a 7 year old me.
I'm a comic artist with a manga influenced style. The general rule is that the larger you make the eyes and the more design elements you add to them, like stars, or extra colours, the more you need to reduce the other features including bone structure, noses, and cheeks. MGA understands this. I'm gonna say Nebulous Stars are pretty bad. They look nothing like the art, which is quite charming. Again the more you exaggerate facial features, the more you need to stick to the shape and place of those features for them to read as human. The Nebulous Stars dolls made the head too small and the chin too pointy, they removed the softer, more childlike features that let the big eyes look proportional on the head.
Almost all of MGA's doll lines bother me in some way, mainly because of their odd proportions. I was about 10 or 11 when Bratz first hit the scene (yeah, I'm old lol) and they TERRIFIED me. Their lips were too big, they had no noses, and the detachable feet upset me. Plus I had just read The Witches by Roald Dahl and the witches have no toes JUST LIKE THE BRATZ DOLLS. I was so scared of them.
I got a Cabbage Patch Kid in 1983 when they were super-hot, and I was thrilled. I thought mine was cute, but there is no question that their looks are not for everyone. My friends wanted to play volleyball with her, and my grandpa joked that he would stick her in the oven. Most of the subsequent ones also don't have the same charm. I wish I had my original, but I don't miss her enough to buy a reproduction.
For the longest time I was put off by the LOL OMG's bug faces, but I eventually came around. I despise those Decora Girlz dolls. And if you want nightmare fuel, look up 1970s Mego Farrah, lol. And let us not forget Kenner Dusty, whoa. Seriously, look it up. 😂
I can't tell if me getting used to the omg dolls was a product of someone saying that they look like Betty boops, which I thought was a cute comparison. Or if it was me discovering the existence of lol pets, which made anything lol related look better in comparison
I remember Avastars coming out during the huge NFT/Metaverse boom and I was IMMEEEEDIATELY put off by how all the branding was about "these dolls are from the METAVERSE" when it was just an app game, which is cool in concept but doesn't take away the roblox at home look. I have such nostalgia for #Snapstars. I was so excited since they were the first new brand in South Africa after I became a doll collector. I got all of them except two, Yuki and Echo. I had to return the unopened ones since I needed the money for something else, and sold the unopened ones. Yeah, they’re ugly. Yeah, their wigs sucked. But god damn that articulation. They were charming to me, and I hope to find them again (they were rows upon rows of them even in 2021 in some toy stores here so I’m sure I will) and collect them all, and their fashion packs and their play sets. As a Royale High Roblox player who has been buying all the dolls, I agree. The limited edition doll is actually really nice in person, but the rest ummmm. I’m not a big fan of Lalaloopsy dolls, and it’s mainly because I was traumatised by the movie Coraline, I’m also not a big fan of some particular Little Mermaid dolls, they’re the ones with the psycho eyes, where they’re 95% sclera and only 5% eye colour.
my one defense of Snap stars is that they make excellent body articulated donors for Stacy and Chelsea sized dolls. Enchantimals and LPS heads also look good if you wanna get more out there with your hybrids ^^ you just saw off the wierd giant neck knob and pop the new head on!

I was given a Diva Stars doll as a kid, I didn't ask for her and she was hideous 😬 It was always a bit unnerving having her in my room. The Winx Club dolls on the other hand I am obsessed with, I'm a total Winx girlie and the Mattel dolls especially are super nostalgic to me
I agree with all of the dolls you picked. I would not buy any of those. And I don't like some of the newer Barbie dolls. But I still collect vintage Barbie dolls. So no I,m not mad at your opinion.
I agree with you on all of them except for the Winx dolls; not all of them are pretty, but XCanadensis has a huge collection of them, and some of them are really pretty. For now, the only ones I can think of that I can't stand are the Cry Babies of all sizes, and there is a brand; (I can't remember the name), that came out when a lot of people were mad at Barbie's porportions and clothes/makeup. They had no makeup, ugly faces and clothes. Every time I see them, I can't help thinking that they are really ugly. They aren't being produced any longer, and I'm really glad. If I think of any others, I will list them later.
Lmao I never thought of the diva stars dolls, I wouldn’t even remember it until I saw it but I had the blonde one actually when I was little. I think she talked and there was a button on the shoes, don’t remember what she did tho
The Diva stars kinda look like they wanted a big eye big head kinda similar to Blythe but on a basic base with massive clown feet. It’s not a good look. I don’t think I ever got one. Cabbage patch I didn’t like…my friend had one and insisted I get one (when I was a kid) and they were not cheap for the time. I wasted a Christmas present on one and I hated it. All so me and my friend could be cabbage baby moms. 🤢 I’m an 80s baby and I gotta say some of the older Sindy dolls were fugly…while some I wouldn’t mind having now I just remember some being a bit meh in the face. Also super vintage the old She-Ra Princess of Power dolls 😪 at the time (kid age) I thought they were super cool because I’m a MLP girl and those dolls had big horses…but now my brain is like ‘what even are these faces’. I’m moaning a lot here but also dislike square headed dolls. And those Snapstar dolls look like they just walked off the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 🤣🤣🤣
You know as a kid I wanted a Diva Stars doll so bad but I’m glad my parents never bought me one because as an adult doll collector I believe they’re pretty ugly doll now.Funny story though, when I was a teenager I thought bratz dolls were ugly but now I love them! Weird… how that happens
Really good picks! For me Art Squad - YES! I thought I was the only one who thought that way, but they look like middle aged women. I blame the faces. Gen 2 Monster High - an easy pic, but they look so lifeless and empty. The bland fashion and expressions really break my heart The updated Equestria girl dolls- I was a sucker for the original equestria girls dolls. The designs were simple but it felt like a good transition from the pony toys. But when they got that stylist to redesign the girls, I was so disappointed. This one might be a hottake but...Pullip and Blythe dolls.. Just not a fan. I won't elaborate.. Mermaze- Same issue with Superstars, faces try hard to look both realistic and abstract. Personally I prefer Mermaid high because at least the concept was interesting and the faces looked more like dolls.
I am an even picker person than you are I have: 1. a handful of monster high g1 dolls 2. an even smaller EAH collection 3. like 4 omgs 4. a bunch of one-off dolls from short lived lines and rest of my collection is just rainbow high.
I agree with you, I don't like or collect any of those doll lines. I would like to add Fidgie Friends and Cry Babies BFFs to that list! I can't stand the eyes on either of them.
I had the blonde Diva Stars and got it the Christmas they came out. I loved it back then, but as an adult collector, I do not like the look as much. If they would of been of the shelf now I would be turning away from them.
Don't worry as an internet dinosaur I DID grow up in a time of Cabbage Patch dolls and they've always been just... so horrible. They even had a store kinda thing where you would go "pick" your baby from the cabbage patch?! Oh it's all just childhood nightmares akin to the tunnel ride in the original Willy Wonka.
Yes agree with the list. Snapstar would have been great if they look like their artwork. Winx I just like the mattel and Jakk pacific since that is the one I saw as a kid but yeah the ones you said they are not my cup of tea
I loved Jem & The Holograms when I was little but never liked the dolls. To me the faces and the hair looked so off from the cartoon, also I didn't like the proportions, the bigger head since in the cartoon Jem had very realistic proportions.
I feel the same way. The cartoon characters were so pretty, and the dolls were clunky. It was dirty the way Barbie rushed their Rockers line to squash the Jem dolls, but I did prefer the Barbies. I have an Integrity Toys Jem doll that I love though, but their dolls were much too expensive to get all the characters.
An extremely hot take but I think Rainbow High dolls are ugly 😭 Some of the fashions are cute but I just can’t get behind the massive heads and massive eyes (Also thought at least in the early years they suffered same face syndrome?) Similary I don’t like Ever After High either,,, why are their heads so round?? I’ve never seen them in person so I could be wrong, but from the adverts their faces also just looked so… flat? Idk as a kid I was so surprised that they were made by the same company that made Monster High agsjhdk
Anything Hasbro 😅, anything hairdorbles, the new decora girls, snap stars, the new rainbow high, the art squad dolls were nightmare inducing lol and reminded me that Gwen Stefani had a flop, I am not a big fan of gen 3 ghoulia except that comicon one, I do love some of the old cabbage patch dolls but I remember that old meme floating around myspace if you know you know
Have you heard of Living Dead Dolls? 👀 I feel like you would either really like them or absolutely hate them. Absynth from series 21 might interest you. Little Apple Dolls are also a forgotten masterpiece. They are similar to LDDs, but have much more depth story wise. LADs are more artsy.
My husband hates those dolls too and doesn’t want me to bring them into the house 😆 I think they look really different, but I like the concept, just wish it was executed better with a cuter face 😁
The reason why the royale high dolls look like that is cause royale high avatars have like human bodys and then they use the roblox woman head which is why they look like that
I see a lot of those dolls from like Russia and China that have the weird baby faces on a blyth body.... I feel bad for calling them ugly, but good lord!
For me it's the Hi Glamm dolls, I torn on them. I think from the waist up they look fine. But those stilt legs look so nasty to me, especially without clothes
Oooooh! I collect Diva Starz. I have 2 interactive dolls and most of the fashion dolls (you only showed the interactive dolls). I think they are cool, kitsch and fun. The fashion dolls remind me of Blythe somehow. I know most doll collectors don't appreciate them but I don't care. Poor misunderstood Divas! It's ok girls, I know they don't like you... but I do! 😉
For Snapstars, it looks like they used the same asian face mold for all six dolls and tried to just change skin tones and hair styles to "make them diverse"??? 🤔 They come off as more robotic/clone-like than actually having different styles and personalities.
I honestly really appreciate you being a "hater", because even when your opinion and mine don't align I just like to know that you're thinking critically when talking about these dolls. I see a lot of people who just seem to take what's "given" to them in the doll world despite the fact that *none* of it is "given" to us, we're consumers and don't have to be thankful to corporations for giving us products to buy from them. Dolls are products and should be quality reviewed as such. As for the dolls in the video those Roblox dolls are some of the worst I've ever seen in my life they legit make me grimace when I see them.
unpopular opinion but i think the faces of rainbow high and lol dolls are so strange looking... 🫢 the snap star dolls kinda look like the liv doll mcdonalds toys, like specifically the mcdonalds toys. the big realistic head on the tiny cartoony body looks so weird 😭
Honestly any modern day Barbie is the worst to me but not for the expected reasons like the poor quality! The reason why I hate the modern Barbie dolls so much is because they trigger childhood trauma where I wasn’t allowed to express femininity the way I wanted to. The modern Barbies look like the people who bullied me, hated me for what I identify with. The dolls come off like they would shame people who identify with feminine attributes: no matter if thats cis women, trans women or gay men or something. I hate them so much & they trigger me so incredibly much on a deeply hurtful level. The old Barbie dolls till id say around 2014/2015 represent comfort to me because of how unapologetically fem they were. They always had makeup, high heels, fashionable clothing etc & helped me so much to express myself through fantasy. They were made for exactly that audience - people who identify with it or people who are being suppressed and thats their only way of experiencing a slice of what it feels like to be that. The new dolls once again hurt me on such deep levels that I can’t describe how much hate I express for them because I feel uncomfortable and hated looking at them & what they stand for.
While I feel bad that you were bullied by people who didn't express traditional femininity, I also feel worried that you might force a potential daughter to wear dresses if she doesn't want to because of what triggers you. My worry might be irrational, though.
@@theamazingavagrace84 I would never force a girl to be feminine or a boy to be masculine. I have no issues with people identifying with more traditionally masculine interests or identities - my issue comes from the fact that Barbie was stripped of the things the character was supposed to be interested in and it’s being marketed as her leaving femininity and fantasy glamour behind is positive since it’s seen as something harmful and bad to be like that… to be like what I am.
@@stardustoflife326 I see now. There are a few parts of modern Barbie that I don't like, too. Mostly the degradation of quality. I'm glad that my worry was irrational.

See every time I look at Pinkie Cooper I just think they’d have been better as cats 🤪
@moonflowerfaeriee Are you thinking of Lammily?
@@MsLanie Yes thank you, that’s the name.
🤣🤣🤣 I love DivaStars I used to have one as a kid but I can totally see why it may be ugly to others tho!! 😂😂
I enjoyed this even if I didn’t agree with everything 🤣🤣🤣
Lmao I never thought of the diva stars dolls, I wouldn’t even remember it until I saw it but I had the blonde one actually when I was little. I think she talked and there was a button on the shoes, don’t remember what she did tho
Youre literally so pretty omg
Ahhh thank you!! 🥰
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE!!!!! I have always been a HUGE cabbage patch hater and I’m glad that I’m not alone in that. They just look really creepy to me.
Yes! Very unsettling
I’m an 80s baby and I gotta say some of the older Sindy dolls were fugly…while some I wouldn’t mind having now I just remember some being a bit meh in the face.
For me
Art Squad - YES! I thought I was the only one who thought that way, but they look like middle aged women. I blame the faces.
Gen 2 Monster High - an easy pic, but they look so lifeless and empty. The bland fashion and expressions really break my heart
The updated Equestria girl dolls- I was a sucker for the original equestria girls dolls.
No I high key hear you on Pullip and Blythe
Giochi preziosi winx are the only dolls that managed to nail their faces in my opinion
I do think those are pretty good, but for me they’re just still..,missing something idk
I am an even picker person than you are
I have:
1. a handful of monster high g1 dolls
2. an even smaller EAH collection
3. like 4 omgs
4. a bunch of one-off dolls from short lived lines
and rest of my collection is just rainbow high.
Picky can be good sometimes!
@@FaeryTaleDolls yea I save a lot of money. I say this after buying a 115$ on a doll.
I agree with you, I don't like or collect any of those doll lines. I would like to add Fidgie Friends and Cry Babies BFFs to that list! I can't stand the eyes on either of them.
those #snapstar dolls are giving m3gan 😬
I had the blonde Diva Stars and got it the Christmas they came out. I loved it back then, but as an adult collector, I do not like the look as much. If they would of been of the shelf now I would be turning away from them.
Belle Emma watson doll is actually pretty 🥀✨ LMAO
Don't worry as an internet dinosaur I DID grow up in a time of Cabbage Patch dolls and they've always been just... so horrible. They even had a store kinda thing where you would go "pick" your baby from the cabbage patch?! Oh it's all just childhood nightmares akin to the tunnel ride in the original Willy Wonka.
I’ve seen that omg 😭
@@c.w.2000 yes same 😁
An extremely hot take but I think Rainbow High dolls are ugly 😭 Some of the fashions are cute but I just can’t get behind the massive heads and massive eyes (Also thought at least in the early years they suffered same face syndrome?)
Similary I don’t like Ever After High either,,, why are their heads so round?? I’ve never seen them in person so I could be wrong, but from the adverts their faces also just looked so… flat? Idk as a kid I was so surprised that they were made by the same company that made Monster High agsjhdk
Honestly I hear that a lot! EAH faces took a bit to grow on me
The winx club dolls are so insulting to the show.
I want to like LDD so bad but they’re always just a hair too much for my taste 😭 never heard of Little Apple though I’ll have to look into those!
My least favorite line at the moment is Decora Dollz. Their faces are so unsettling.
I almost put them on here lol…I can’t see them without thinking of the ahego faces and uh…that’s not what I want for my dolls haha
Edited for typo
My husband hates those dolls too and doesn’t want me to bring them into the house 😆 I think they look really different, but I like the concept, just wish it was executed better with a cuter face 😁
Rainbow High Littles with their dead eyes. They’re not the ugliest dolls out there, but I dislike them.
Knickerbocker's Raggedy Ann and Andy? Yes. Cabbage Patch dolls? Hard. No. I never understood the mass riots at stores at Christmas time. 🤔
The reason why the royale high dolls look like that is cause royale high avatars have like human bodys and then they use the roblox woman head which is why they look like that
I just can't deal with LOL-OMG & Bratz. They weird me out with the crazy proportions.
I see a lot of those dolls from like Russia and China that have the weird baby faces on a blyth body.... I feel bad for calling them ugly, but good lord!
Winx Dolls are the best and the show is even better
Noooo. I love Cabbage Patch Kids 😮 I have 47 of them 😭
I’m sorryyyy the faces just creep me out 😅
@@FaeryTaleDolls 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
For me it's the Hi Glamm dolls, I torn on them. I think from the waist up they look fine. But those stilt legs look so nasty to me, especially without clothes
I just looked those up and…wow, yeah. Little too much leg for me
Also, as someone who likes Cabage Patch kids, I think the ugliness is part of the charm.
It's ok girls, I know they don't like you... but I do! 😉
More for you haha
I really don’t like Disney and or based off of real people. I had a cabbage patch and a diva star but you’re right lol
Darling Dollz want to know your location.
I’ll never tell
I also have never liked Cabbage Patch kids. Don't think the faces are cute at all. And not my style of doll over all. My Mother In Law however...😂
For Snapstars, it looks like they used the same asian face mold for all six dolls and tried to just change skin tones and hair styles to "make them diverse"???
the snap star dolls kinda look like the liv doll mcdonalds toys, like specifically the mcdonalds toys. the big realistic head on the tiny cartoony body looks so weird 😭
I find the LOL dolls really ugly. The outfits are nice but the dolls are ugly
İ 100% disagree with Winx Dolls
So coming over Covid made you spicy? Lol.
The sickness converted to sass

I'm taking the first spot so nobody can comment "fIrSt"
