    Something I'd recommend is really getting in those reps in, with or without a partner. You want your penetration step to be fast and to do that you need to practice it a lot, that includes the level change as well. Make sure your flexibility is on point too.

    I was having issues with takedowns in MMA which brought me to this video and the two things I was doing that you pointed out were not committing once going for the takedown and focusing on capturing the legs instead of driving the opponent first. I implemented these tips yesterday and got 4 out of 5 of my takedown attempts! The last one I was super gassed and the guy was bigger and trained for longer so I’m not mad at all

    I disagree with the knee sliding part because if you drop and or slide your knee in a real street fight you can seriously hurt or injure your knee for the simple fact that it's not a padded mat that your sliding or dropping your knee on and in wrestling your opponents body weight and center of gravity is lower than average witch makes it more difficult to perform takedowns and this is where dropping the knee comes in as it makes your body lower then there's witch makes it easier to perform the take down whear as in a real fight most if not all people will not have there center of gravity and body weight as low as a wrestlers so thats why the Morote gari the judo version of the double leg they do not drop there knee

    • @MMACoach79
      @MMACoach79  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There are many versions of the double leg, not just the low double. And this was not the video titled: "the street application of the double leg". Of course you will not slide the knee on concrete.

    Imo you are still shooting from way too far away.
    You need to really emphasize penetration step which is my most important step when teaching the double.
    Always try and get your lead foot in between theirs for "3 feet in a row" or if they have one foot forward change the attack angle so they square up. If you can't get them to square up shoot the high crotch single on the closest leg, turn the corner and then switch to double.
    Never shoot on an angle downwards . Change your level first then explode into your penetration step. I use the example of the right angle triangle. Never be the sloped side when you attack always drop level first and attack straight like you see with the 90 degree sides.

    • @THIS---GUY
      @THIS---GUY ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shvettyballs7045 a little bit I would add is when you take your penetration step and have three feet in a row you go down to the lead knee. At this point you should make solid contact with your shoulder to their hip and push the opponent back a bit.
      Trail leg comes around and becomes the drive leg. Keep your ear glued to the hip. Turn the corner and come up from the original penetration knee to drive them on an angle or to the side not directly backwards.

  • @ailediablo79

    Any proper striker would easily use a knee or bunch/elbow in the face plus moving backwards in an angel to the side after sharp contact to the mouth/chin.
    They still effective in the right moment and just because it worked it doesn't mean nesseerly the right moument or next time it would be bad. Knowing when to use it is more important than this move by alot because if you miss up that even by little you will lose the fight or be damaged very badly or both. Avoid them as much as possible, especially as a striker. You really better of with a slamp or a plam push strike like sumo wrestling move to open an opportunity for a judo takedown or a superflex to go for lock while being vertical holding opponent to the ground.
    Of course requires more training.
    Although takedowns are geat if you have a wepone and opponent does not, such as a knife. Even knights gets defeated by that. But to fully master that you need free wrestling or Jujitsu skills to do that.
