Spray or hand paint RV cabinets?

  • I finally reached the painting stage of my Lazy Daze RV renovation journey, but what is the best method for cabinet painting? Do I use a cabinet paint sprayer or traditional hand tools? In this video I show my experience using the Wagner Flexio 3500 paint sprayer and also a standard brush and roller. Which method turned out the best for my project?

    Brush & rollers here!
    Great color, it really opens the interior up.

      Thank you! I agree, I am going to stick with the brush and rollers for the rest of the inside.

    Looks good, nice and bright. Prep takes more time than painting! A little late but, you should sand, clean and then tape off area then paint. However if you aren't learning you are backing up! thanks for posting...

      Thank you. I wasn't sure which order to do it. I thought if I taped first, I would protect the areas from scuffing, but taping after sanding probably would have been better. Like you said...lesson learned. Thanks for watching and for the feedback!

      Thank you as always! I agree, it's pretty scary to paint, especially when the wood is quite beautiful as is, but I took my chances. Wasn't sure if the image I had in my mind would translate in real life, but so far it is turning out the way I hoped :)

    The paint work looks great.
    Painting is such a pain.
    I varnished a lot of my van build so I wouldn't have to paint it.
    Definitely a thumbs up 👍

      Thank you! I always think staining and varnishing is more work, which is why I just painted instead, lol.

    Looks fantastic, but where's the snowboard gear going to go? I'm thinking I'd get a roof rack (if possible) or a small trailer. I can imagine steel edges dinging up that nice paint work you've done.
    Anyway, keep up the good work and thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the next one.

      Thank you! For now, the boards can fit in one of the exterior storage compartments. But eventually, I would like to get a hitch mounted rack. Yakima has a really cool system that I would love to have, but it is pretty spendy. Someday...

      Yakima? Spendy? Noooo...😄 Gotta say, though, I do like their designs. But, it is, you know, a little spendy.

    Awesome sauce! I am embarking on this painting journey in my 2002 LD RK. Do you have a link to the 3M Scotch Blue Painters Tape Plastic? Also, did you clean the areas before? Did you use primer BEFORE painting? If so, what brand?

    • @LindaYoshi
      @LindaYoshi  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I need to be better about listing the products I use!
      I cleaned everything I didn’t sand with Krud Kutter and I used Behr’s scuff defense paint with primer.
      Here’s a link to the 3M paint: www.homedepot.com/p/3M-ScotchBlue-24-in-x-30-yd-Pre-Taped-Painter-s-Plastic-with-Edge-Lock-and-Dispenser-PTD2093EL-24-s/204344770
      Hope that helps! Good luck in your project!

    Could you tell us the brand and type of paint you used? It looks great!

    • @LindaYoshi

      Thank you! I used Behr paint from Home Depot. The white paint was the Premium Plus line and the grey was their Ultra Scuff Defense which I thought was a better paint.

  • @Golfsmithin
    @Golfsmithin 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You mentioned both premium white and no scuff grey. Which did you ultimately use? I’m confused, it looks like white but you mentioned grey also.

    • @LindaYoshi
      @LindaYoshi  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's kind of hard to tell in the video, but I used both. The white is on most of the cabinets, but I used grey on the base cabinets in the kitchen.
