Dozens of homes were flooded when the Grand Union Canal began overflowing. John Brailsford, 67, said: 'These are the worst floods I’ve seen in 38 years of living here. The river sometimes bursts its banks but that’s further away and we were told the canal would never flood. It’s very severe. I saw police, fire and ambulance crews all along the streets, some with dinghies which have been rescuing people'.

Stop building on flood plains. Stop releasing raw sewage. Happy river ecosystems

Raw sewage is because of the joint system they made years ago.. split system would have avoided the issue

Everywhere I go I always have a look down roadside drains just to check and everyone so far is filled with gravel people need to start taking the local councils to court for damages cause by flooding

I did the same about 5 years ago. Some are still blocked. They did make bigger a balancing pond , which made me think they know what is coming. It went from small to as big as they could get it.

"Dredge the rivers so it all flows out to sea", said today i.e. speed the flow so it floods your neighbours, instead of a strategy of more suitable tree cover on sheep mown saturated hills, to slow the instant run-off

Can't cross the river at Zouch, Kegworth or Stamford. It's a mess right now.

If the storm was that bad, how come you have a drone flying in it to take pictures of someone chilling in a canoe?

New building on green field sites probably isn’t helping either

Waiting for the excuses to increase prices of food due to flooding. Starting with bleating farmers then greedy food manufacturers, topped by Supermarkets cashing in again.
