Some tips for fellow miners: 1) u can see remaining charges on modules by being in mining mode and F-mouse hovering on the panels overhead; 2) always press i to toggle off engines before exiting ur ship (this avoids ALL manner of SC bugs); 3) we all sometimes overshoot an approach so always point ur nose slightly off target when flying at a rock or station; 4) if racing toward the station, learning to spin 180 + boost main thrusters to stop quickly is a very effective piloting skill when ur quant is hot and every second matters; 5) the “impound” trick is faster than taking the elevator and best used when padrammers/griefers are lurking… your quant is seconds from blowing… or you have a 2nd Prosp to keep on mining while Prosp 1’s impound fee/timer runs out… and when you’re back w Prosp 2’s haul, then put both loads into the Refinery. Cheers!
bro this was helpfull. i was scanning at 2 per cent angle but no one never told me about using mining mode to check the type of rock from afar. you sir rock
It was a long video and I almost gave up watching a few times but I'm glad I stuck it out because the scanning technique is where the time savings really gets to the heart of it!
Thank for the video and not cutting out the game crashes lol it is what we will deal with. I have been thinking about playing again and dusting off my old prospector this makes me want to again. TY !
I usually fracture all quantanium deposits in one small area IF I find several close by. I fracture them all that seam worth gathering, down to extract size. then set quantum jump to an refinery. Extract all pices worth keeping, and then jump. Usually get around 2k unrefined quanta that way, and minimal unwanted ores. Usually end up with 200.000 units in profit. Can be more if you find an really good and pure Quanta deposit.
I went out last night. 41% rock. No filter module, had 100% quant in the back of my prospector. You don't need the fltr for quant if u find the right rock. Just has to be above 32% quant I believe and u can fill a prospector harvesting just the quant rocks. Last night was my first night put mining So i think if my amature mining ass can do it without a fltr, I think anyone can.
I'm looking forward to going out again and repeating the process. It take a bit longer to find the better rocks, but it seems more worth it going back with 100% quant in the hold
Also, I plan on having my friend scout to help reduce the time looking for the optimum rock. I did it solo last night. Saw a bunch of low % quant and just went past them.
Is it even possible to fill your ship with quant? I see that 15 minute timer, looks like you can only do the 2 rocks and have to go? Or am i missing something?
GREAT video, fr i think this astroid belt place is way better, faster, and safer. Also I basically copied all the ricks you did and it was pretty easy, thank you my brutha
11:52 Although I have also made the setting with LAlt + mouse wheel, nothing happens with my scan raidus FOV when I change the scan radius in mining mode except that the energy intensity to the mining laser changes, which also happens with you when you move your mouse wheel. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Ps.: I am playing the current Live Vers0oin 3.17.2.
First of all u shared some really good tips that I as a long time miner even appreciated so 🙏 thank u! Tho about the Aaron Halo asteroid belt mining I have not found it viable to mine there. Not at the location u showed nor at another location but in heading towards CRU-L5 from ARC-L1 and exiting Quantum travel @ 39 640 000km. Now I didn’t know about the focused scan angle function so I had to go to every rock to get its content values which is soooo time consuming I’ve always given up after 10-15 minutes of finding no Q-type rock containing more than 10% QM. Granted, I will try again in the Aaron Halo asteroid belt if the focus scan angle still works in 3.17.2. About your tip on how to manage the power input of the mining laser I wonder why u choose to turn of the mining laser instead of regulating the power with the scroll wheel? When u turn of the laser you for a few seconds loose the buffs or the added benefits of the Lancet mining laser so just scrolling down or up on the mouse is at least what I recommend. Now this is perhaps a personal preference thing when mining rocks with a mass below 5500kg. However when going for higher mass rocks the power input lag that occurs when turning off and on the laser becomes an issue. Especially when ur mining rocks with higher mass and higher percentage quantainium. Lastly u mentioned the mining gadgets when purchasing Surge modules among other things. I can highly recommend the Boremax, Sabir and Waveshift when mining either huge more difficult rocks with Surge and two passive mining modules. Tho I always have the Surge and at least one Vaux-C3 no matter the difficulty of the rocks I’m going for. I haven’t found a meta combo but 2x Vaux-C3 or a combination of a Vaux-C3 + Focus III or Torrent III have served me very well. When using gadget, which u can use at least three of at the same time from what I’ve tested, it’s possible to crack high percentage quantainium ~7000kg rocks. Tho I it gets quite difficult when they’re above 6600kg, but it is possible with some training. Awesome appreciated content m8! 👌🙏 Thx for sharing! ✌️🖖
thanks for the feedback! about the switching on and off of my laser its really just a habit of mine since cutting off the laser would be easier for beginners to do rather than scrolling up and down finding that sweet spot. But I agree that once you feel comfortable with mining, then scrolling would be much better! And it looks like you've found some really nice combos with the modules too! thanks for the recommendation
@@loopinus So I rarely just keep the mining laser power completely still due to both instability and resistance makes the charge rate fluctuate. But your right, your method is probably the safest way to go for beginners as you run a smaller risk of over charging your way. Cheers m8! ✌️
For me, it depends on what it is. Generally I just refine the quantanium, but if there is some higher value items in there too, I may elect to refine those as well.
tNice tutorialngs work. I do read so stuff in the manual but there is a lot, or I try to find tNice tutorialngs on youtube. So more help will be appreciated.
Hmm you could try using a mining gadget, I'd recommend the wave shift one. But really It'd be worth to just farm bounty missions until you can buy a prospector
Not really, after 3.17.2 nearly half of asteroids on radar are unscannable and unmainable, so this scanning process takes probably 80% of game time. Just imagine scanning asteroid field for hours - it is not really pleasant activity. Last time I spend 2hrs, relogged three times, changed location - finally got 20% quantanium rock. After this I quit. As an average expect roughly 250k auec per hour, sometimes a bit more more sometimes less.
My first run i flew around for 45 minutes finding nothing but 2%s, must have been a dozen of them. eventually found one with 11%. Second run I found a 49.91% in less than 5 minutes. Keep at it man, bad luck will run out eventually
It is quite a heavy investment. But you might be able to skip the module as long as you have the lancet and just position your mining head at like 2.5m away from the rock

Best Mining Tutorial I have seen so far. Thx!
Probably the best tutorial about this on youtube right now. Thanks!

Game changing location bro thank you, so much better then surface mining!
Glad it helped!
Thx this is by far the best guid to minig quantanium, best part is how you explain the mining. I subscribe ;)
Glad It helped! and thank you so much for the sub
Really good video with lots of good tips. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just to say thanks so much for this tutorial, really made a massive difference
no problem! glad it helped.
Having a FLTR XL module will help to reduce the amount of Inert material that you pull on to the ship, leaving you with more room for the Quant.

I just found a 44.05% quantanium rock wtf.

this is great guide, i would remake the video because of that stupid glitch tho.
15:08 how to see the crit damage? 😶
I got stuck on binding 2 keys to one function... can't figure that out. Any help? thanks
Hey thanks for this video, really helpful! Question, what do you do with the other materials in your prospector? (quartz, inert etc)
thanks for watching! All of the other materials get destroyed when you start the refining process back at a refining station.
For me, it depends on what it is. Generally I just refine the quantanium, but if there is some higher value items in there too, I may elect to refine those as well.

Can u do the same thing on mole to find the quantanium I can't seem to do the same trick
sadly no, if you want to do it on a mole, you're gonna need a friend to help you out since the mining laser is on another seat in the mole

@@omitted6631 the keybind change is for my convenience really, you just need to be able to change your scan angle from 360 to 2 degrees
