Been trying to figure out this game slowly over the last week. This guide is exactly what I needed. Gives you all the info you need without telling you too much about the game.
Yes - the content is perfect and the tone is friendly and encouraging without being the least bit patronizing. Perfect to get newbies excited about the game.
This was an excellent guide, I've been playing since the beginning but added this to my favorites list to share with friends and any new citizens I spot ^^
My MAN!! Thanks for the EXCEPTIONAL video. I am a commercial pilot & complete Star Citizen n00b. Very refreshing to find someone that speaks “my language”. Best of luck & may you always have tail winds.
I've been with SC since 2013. New pilot or not, this is an excellent video. Your instruction and covering every little detail was perfect. I too will be sharing this with friends when they start.
Great video! I was trying to fly for the first time last night in (Arena Commander) and the Keybind Template I printed out from SC's website had a million things on it. I realized I needed a more stripped down version of info to learn and your intro video was PERFECT. Many thanks. I have subscribed and will be sure to watch your combat intro video and others!
There is no easy way to this complex and in depth game. I've been hesitant to play Star Citizen due to the settings and controls. I come from learning to play DCS. Your video is a hero! Simple, easy to follow and reduced so many headaches. Just getting to a hanger or pad is hard enough not knowing my way around the various starports. Riding shuttles, exiting personal rooms, and finding vendors and such. I'll definitely attempt to fly with these default controls but now I'll be worried about setting up my HOTAS!
I'm currently in the process of earning a PC that will be exclusively playing Star Citizen. Your tutorials are well spoken and professional which will no doubt help me in the future. If the rest of your tutorials are as professional is this, then perhaps when I pay for my first pledge your channel will receive the windfall of me joining up. I'll be ready for your next class, which is ship combat I believe.
Excellent tutorial and guide. Your video should be made mandatory for new pilots to watch before flying in SC. I wished that i was pointed to your video before i started SC a few days ago. Figuring out a lot of the mechanics in SC was tough, even though i have 1000+ hours in ED.
This video is the most helpful video I have come across since started playing yesterday. I wish I watched this before starting! Great work - very very good voice over and explanations.
I originally backed back in 2014 - I haven't looked at anything around this and jumped in last night, already hooked. It's turned / turning into what I always thought it would!
Hands down the best flight tutorial I have ever seen!!! I have been in this project since the start and still learned from it. Will be passing this along to share to others. Your voice and spirit is the best. There is more I wish to praise you for but to much and can't come up with words or it will get to wordy. I hope you keep making tutorials! But I fear it will be a never ending task with SC's changes throughout the time to come. Although if your videos are monitized, it will mean you won't run out of content. Again very nicely done!
I've been watching videos to decide if I want to try the game and have seen quite a few "how to" that left me scratching my head. Yours is the first that I feel actually explained it clearly and didn't leave vague interpretations. Thanks for being so clear and thorough!
This is seriously one of the best guides for this game I've ever seen. Great job.. I often forget how to play after taking a break from SC, so this is very helpful.
One detail that would be helpful if you're in a Hornet (that still doesn't have the Com section in its MFDs) or if the MFDs don't work properly, like what happened in 3.15, you can open your mobiglass by pressing F1 and go to social, or press F11 to open social directly, and go to Friends and hail the port from there.
Excellent guide! Coming over from Elite Dangerous, I find Star Citizen's HUD and flight system a bit hard to get used to and this guide does an outstanding job of explaining it. Thanks again!
This is been the most helpful flying guide that I've ever found. I'm about to start star citizen and no other video I could find has told me how much about flying that you have. This is awesome you get a subscribe.
I love this game. I also recommend people who are looking for extra immersion as well as just making things easier I use Voice Attack to use voice commands for almost everything in game. The HCS voicepacks are also really cool for added immersion.
Thank you, this video was super helpful. I just died with all my stuff on my first time playing because I got confused while flying, but now I feel much more confident. Great video!
This whole video should be required viewing before a new player is allowed to enter the game. I'm not kidding, the amount of questions about flying in General Chat gets overwhelming during Free Fly's, this would answer so many of their questions and save a lot of typing.
You just earned a subscriber my guy, this was by far the best tutorial I’ve seen. I just got the game yesterday and I struggled so hard following other tutorials. This was perfectly explained and I wasn’t made to feel like an idiot, and it wasn’t assumed that I knew things prior. Again, thank you. If you see CrimsonXVII out in the black, feel free to say hi!
small suggestion, and this is kind of a "just in case" thing when you land. First thing I do after my ship has successfully landed where I want it is shut down the thrusters. That way even if I bump the controls or something, shes not going to move, drift, or anything else. AND if someone has snuck aboard, sometimes it will keep them from taking off [not sure if they still have that unauthorized person lock out or not]
He told to stop the engines. This disables trusters and main engine at the same time. Keep the power up is necessary to avoid some sudden attack as you keep your shields and weapons ready. And with really strong winds if your ship is not properly landed even with engines stopped it can drift.
Well done! Perfect tutorial for the intelligent layman. I've flown Elite Dangerous so I knew what I didnt' know... and you did an excellent job of covering exactly what a newbie needed to get out in the verse (and back.)
I just started playing this week, and I know first hand about thin atmospheres not slowing you down as much as you'd initially believe. This video is very helpful, I'll likely watch it a few times as in learning SC.
Thank you for this, I'm pretty rusty and I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things. And I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to your upcoming combat video!
@@HybridVAudio Thanks! I pop into the game every few months or so, but never for very long. Mostly I just enjoy the game vicariously through youtubers and reddit. 😁
Thanks! Your video has helped to bring things in to perspective, in regards to flying. The trouble that I have is that I've never been a keyboard cat, so I use a controller. As a new rookie pilot, I have crashed twice in one hour because the default "controller" key binds are wacky, unlike the keyboard. Don't know why. But I'm trying to fix them as best I can. Your video as helped with that effort. :)
Thank you commander! I have been searching for a simple no bs tutorial on the basics. I'm migrating from ED so I'm not completely lost but your videos really helped me! o7
This is the most comprehensive guide I've seen since we have the PU. Relevant details, good rythme, accurate visuals, I bet you'd make a fucking great teacher. Keep it up, I'll be there to enjoy the ride.
subbed. the best flight navigation video I've seen yet. Mostly because you don't skip over key or mouse click explanations. well, not much.... Being a brand new gamer, who decided to go with star citizen as my learning curve choice, I'm thankful. cheers to ya from an old man trying to learn PC gaming. ;)
Excellent tutorial. I haven't been in Star Citizen since 2019 and wow have things changed. This video really helped me to get back into the swing of things. Thanks
Freshly started playing. Bought a an Arrow from the store and launched myself into space without having any idea of what to do. My ship ran out of fuel in the open. LOL! Noobs be noobs! Your tutorial is gonna help get things right. I wonder if self destroying will help me with the out fuel issue. Thanks for the video this was amazing!
The Star Citizen Pilot's Guide, very nice. A month ago during QT in Cutlas I tried to leave the first pilot's seat and move to the second one. It suddenly became dark, and the next thing I saw was the medbay in CRU L1. Last week during another QT, this time in C2, I decided to visually check if I had cargo on board. I got to the elevator, pressed the "lower deck" button and my ship continued QT without me, leaving me in outer space without a helmet. What I'm trying to say - this SC bugnest requires comprehensive Developers Guide, and several years of bug-tracking before any Pilot's Guide would make sense.
Informative video demonstrating the systems, HUD elements, and how it all comes together. Thanks so much for putting this together, and I loved the presentation and style
Thanks so much for this video! This is the best one I've come across dealing with the essential Flight information it covers. Very clearly explained! Just what the doctor ordered for my difficulty in getting into the game!
My HOTAS broke so I'm forced to fly with mouse and board. This video is the single best vanilla tutorial I've seen so far. Your ability to break shit down Barney-style is incredible.
Thank you for the video explanation, super useful, I feel more ready to jump back into the game and practice my landings and flying the ship altogether!
At 7:40; You're the first I've heard that has described what this is for (I've asked), thanks. ;-) When I was first playing (v2.6) I could manually (Autoland didn't work) takeoff and land any ship like a BOSS, first try. That was until they updated the flight engine, losing my BOSS status, though I'm better then after that update, but not at the level I'd like. The only time I use Autoland is when there's highly valuable materials in my cargo bay, otherwise "Autoland is for wimps". ;-D Good work, thanks.
Great!! I bought a package a week before 3.14 and I finally found someone explaining in detail (but simple) how ships work. I will finally stop smashing in to stations and planets (another ED refugee)!!👍
I have been enjoying the new 3.11 flight and combat system and is a really nice to see the game moving in a very positive direction. The free fly event will bring back a lot of players as well as new ones. Thank you for bringing this video before the free fly event.
A calm, thorough and educational TH-camr covering Star Citizen?! Finally. Really enjoyed this and learned some as well. Looking forward to future videos.
hands down one of the best guides I have seen so far. Just bought the game and watched a few videos.....needless to say, they weren't very forthcoming on the keys used.
Great video. I watched Morphologis's starter video and already did 2 delivery missions. This is my next beginner friendly step. Extra key binding tips are a nice touch.
Another thing that helps alot for me (I'm new) but you can hot key the request to land/launch. It's under keybind advanced controls - flight movements - scroll all the way down and slot it. Then you just press the key twice.
That radar trick for dark terrain is a life saver! I lost count of the times I've crashed on dark moons. The headlights don't help much, they usually just blind me. I mainly use them in dark caves and leave them on after landing to keep my surroundings illuminated.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to leave them in the comments so I or other Citizens can help you out.
If you ever get confused as to what your default keybinds are. You can find them in the Options Menu > Keybinds > Advanced Keybinds

Most excellent tutorial. I especially appreciate things being repeated under different circumstances as you have done in a couple of places.
Great video. Great teaching of the fundamentals. I cant wait to watch the rest of your videos!
