Bro! I absolutely LOVE your energy and I'm so stoked you get to try out all this new gear. Not to mention, you are using Magic Beans and the Spatial Audio Calibration Toolkit and getting great results...I've been saying this for years, so I'm glad other people like yourself get to experience the MAGIC! Also, to answer your question, you can have people hear exactly what you are hearing in your space if you do a binaural recording. I do it all the time using the Sonic Presence SP15 mics. I sent you an email which has more information. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much! I appreciate the positive feedback. I’m loving MB and the toolkit has been a great tool for fine tuning. I’ll check out that mic. Thanks!!
I needed to tilt my center channel up a bit & as you said "I had to get creative." And what's more creative than Lego Bricks. Used a base plate & quite a few bricks & got it wear I needed to.
I would suggest moving one of them subs to the rear (diagonally) if you have room for it. Two upfront is effectively stacking them as they are so close so you don't get all the benefits of multi sub.
I was just gonna say this… maybe try subs equidistant in the middle sides. Or somehow run one up front and one in rear. That way maybe not as many phase issues with the RBH woofers. 🎉
I’m confused. Why are you using Magic Beans instead of Dirac live? Did you run both and compare the adjusted curves? Seems like more work to use Magic Beans. Did you try Onkyo’s built in Accueq?
Magic beans is used in conjunction with Dirac Live. Magic Beans is not a replacement for room correction. Magic Beans provides the optimal target curve for the room correction
@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome Thanks for the response. I have the Onkyo RZ70 and use Dirac. Isn’t Dirac already providing the optimal curve for room correction? This is why we move the microphone 17 times. I’m still not clear what makes Magic Beans different or superior.
Quick question theater at home. Do you have to run the Magic Bean and Dirac Live together. Because quite frankly, I'm only interesting doing the direct live. So can I get same result as you with just Dirac Live. I also have a small area for my theater just like you, but just a little bit bigger. Thank you. Edit. I understand your system not the same as my system. I'm just asking about the room calibration with the speakers. Do we need to do both or can I just do Dirac Live and get the same result.
You can run Dirac Live by itself and get a good result. But the Magic Beans app will create an optimal target curve to then load into Dirac Live to get the best possible sound.
A curious question. Why don't you list all the products you have for your systems in the descriptions, so there is a way to check out and do further research on the products, amd makes and or helps the viewers possible purchase easier.
Hey! 👋 I follow you since couple of weeks, it’s good to know details about your system. I’d like to know the size of your tv and which model it is? Thanks
I was curious, I see you have some kind of power strip in the front left. Behind the left speaker. I am revamping my setup and I'd like to know what you are using. Thanks!
Good video . Glad you received the upgrade. Their's away but you have to talk to TH-cam. There are other channels that do 5.1 , 7.1 , 5.1.4 , 7.1.4 . Heard it myself . It's not bad . Even tho its TH-cam it really don't sound bad. It sounds like it's supposed to. But I would talk to TH-cam and see how you can demonstrate the 7.1.4 . Great job!!!
TH-cam only supports up to 5.1 (and even then only only on certain versions of the TH-cam app not the browser version) as they have taken the decision not to pay Dolby for the licensing beyond that or to implement the requirements. It's outlined in their documentation. It's also pretty frustrating as I have 5.1.4 set up and watch quite a lot on TH-cam.
I dont know man, I like your positive vibe but the distances between the speakers and the listening positions are so close that localisation sets in I would imagine. Also the statement that the room sounds bigger seems a bit arbitrary, the only way I know for a room to sound bigger is if you have a lot of acoustic treatment, and you dont. My question is, how would you rate the sound in this mini HT vs your big HT from 1 to 10? thanks
Surprisingly, the localization issue isn’t as big a problem as I thought it would be. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how this setup has over performed my expectations. I wish you could hear it for yourself. You may be surprised. The acoustic panels dramatically improved the sound. I think the room would benefit from having a few more, but it’s still quite solid with what I currently have. I would rate my large theater a 9. The tiny theater I would put at a 6.5. Every room is a compromise, but given the constraints of building in a small room, my tiny theater really does sound incredible considering how one would expect it to sound. I appreciate your thoughts and thanks for watching!!
I don't understand the speaker position and choices. Why are side speakers in front of the seats? Why are the seats blocking the rear speakers ? Are the subs in the fronts on? If so are they connected to the LFE and the Why have subs sat in way? If not and they're full range how did you set the crossover? If the fronts have LFE ? Why not position the subs NEAR FIELD behind the seats? Why is the TV so high? Is the image calibration professionally done or set by you? Just trying to understand so I can learn
Thanks for the video! I have a different question if you dont mind helping me.When you turn off Dirac, are you able to adjust the distance on the Onkyo rz50? I have the same Onkyo, that's why I'm asking. I'm not able to adjust it after running Dirac even after I turn it off.. I just wanna make sure there is nothing wrong with my receiver. Thanks for your help.
Nope, they purposely lock you out of adjusting delays after Dirac has set them. They don't want end users throwing off Dirac's sophisticated phase alignment.
I’m not using the Bass Control. However, I am planning a sub placement/calibration video using a MiniDSP HD. For Magic Beans I took both a near field and MLP measurement for each speaker. Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
I'm trying to decide on my surround speakers for ceiling, rear surrounds and rear speakers. So far I've liked the Focals and Martin Logans which are wall speakers and my guess is more expensive than the RBH surrounds. Problem is I can't find an outlet to hear the RBH speakers. Room will be about 13x16 with a Martin Logan center and Monoprice towers. The selection process is driving me crazy! Going with the RBH mounted on the wall would not be an issue. Thoughts?
I compared them previously with the Monoprice speakers. I preferred the Magic Beans target curve. I’m assuming I would have the same preference with the RBH speakers. But I’ll compare them for fun.
@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome Interesting. Maybe I didn't understand. You are using Magic beans only to create a target curve? I wonder how it compares to a typical one. If you really wanted to dial in a system, I suppose you could adjust by ear after correcting everything to "flat" and then measure to see what that looks like.. A tool that does that for you would be great, tho I am still skeptical.
I don't know about Dirac, but I disabled Audyssey in my system a long time ago. I just don't believe in any miraculous room correction software. Yeah, it may be useful for time alignment and phase issues and it's very convenient for the everyday user, but the results I got in my room were always very underwhelming. Going for a flat response and applying numerous filters don't necessarily mean better sound. So, I decided to apply a basic, old school manual calibration, using just a SPL meter, a laser distance meter and my ears. Not perfect by any means, but way better than any result I got with Audyssey. The endgame would probably be using REW + UMIK + miniDSP, but I will definitely need help from one of my more experienced friends, haha.
Absolutely would have paid the holiday discounted price ($100 off). And if I am able to integrate it with my AVM70 in my main theater then it will definitely be worth $250.
It does! It makes sense the RBH speakers would be significant upgrade over the Monoprice speakers. But they’re also more money so the buyer has to weigh their budget and how important that increase in sound quality is to them.
You would likely get better bass with both subs in the corners at the rear of the room. Then run the front towers crossed over at 40hz with woofers facing outward. Anyone else agree?
Make sure you raise your crossovers all the way after disabling Dirac and before running Magic Beans. You want a full range signal going to each speaker before taking any measurements. Great video!
Great video! Does magic beans replace the dirac eq calibration and just use dirac for time alignment and level? Or does it replace everything dirac does?
Magic Beans creates a Target Curve specific to your speakers in your room that is used to supplement the measurements you get from using Dirac. They work together. One does not replace the other 👍
I have mine done with Dirac and just purchased the magic beans thing since it was $100 off for Christmas. Don’t really know what it does but I guess we will see when my SVS ultra EVO’s pinnacles get here tomorrow. I wish there was more info on magic beans out there.

@@GeorgeTheaterAtHomeawesome. I was going to ask if you tried them diagonal too. Would definitely be interested in seeing results.
George, are you gonna use a mini dsp 2x4 hd to calibrate the subs? since the rz50 doesn't separate the subs for calibration.
