  • In an attempt to use the space in the back of my Jeep Wrangler a little more efficiently, I decided to install a shelf across the back.
This was a simple project/hack that I think turned out pretty good.
Not sure if this level of engineering is everyone's cup of tea, but it works for me and that is all that really matters.
If you see any interesting projects in the background of this video, odds are that I made a video on them as well. Check out our other videos. You might find something you like.

Cheapest mod I have found!!! Seems easy enough to try myself.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! Hope this video helped and this project works out for you.
I have been using it for a while and even my cheap paint job is holding up nicely. I have pt a ton of weight on it too without any damage. I feel a lot more confident leaving certain items in my Jeep now since I can hide them under the panel and keep them out of sight. Even if someone cut the top, they would still have to fiddle with the seats (which I actually have improved locks on the tracks to keep them from being moved) to get anything out from underneath the back.
      Thanks again! Peace!

Good work. For added security some folks relocate the pulls to unlatch the seats from the top of the seat to the rear of the trunk.

That is an awesome idea. Never thought of that. I might have to give that a try.

Yes. It is a great idea. That's why I shared it. You've got that box to get through but if you didn't have that locking trunk folks locate a pull near the rear hatch so that once the rear hatch is locked the entire back, below the cover is now lockable storage even if the soft top is cut and the doors are opened. I saw it here on youtube but the mod to relocate rear seat latch may have been a part of one of the aftermarket shelf install videos. Good luck...
