    That's awesome, was looking at after market fenders....nope too expensive. So I checked out videos on cutting them I liked it but wasn't really sold. Saw this video, now am 100% ready to cut my oem fenders up.

    I am thinking of doing the same or similar. I am going to look at using Polybutylene pipe which is flexible, black and cheap. It is used for water supply and comes in 100 ft rolls (sometimes shorter) Looks awesome man. Good job 👍🏽

    That was an ingenious idea and it looks factory and fantastic, too bad they don't sell pvc in black then you wouldn't have to worry about scratches. Thanks for the video you gave me some great ideas for my jeep .

    SEM trim black is what manufacturers use.. it works well on plastic. I recommend using a grey scuff pad on the surface you will be painting to help with adhesion.

  • @jameswalker1210
    @jameswalker1210 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great job! FYI some auto store sell plastic fender trim now to give the edge a nice finish with less effort than the pic pipe. Although yours turned out great but required a little more ingenuity and skill!

  • @ZacharyCox-u5k
    @ZacharyCox-u5k ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like this idea but may pull the flares and cover the whole thing with bedliner. That would make it look more 1-piece by covering the caulk and giving a uniform texture over the whole thing. My flares are faded really bad anyway.

  • @antonw-uw4ov
    @antonw-uw4ov 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Try painting them with "duracoat". It's a two-component gun-paint in a spray can. Sticks well to plastic and is really durable.

    • @colorlight2

      PEX isn't meant to be used in an exposed installation setting, the tubing can deteriorate from UV exposure :( Just sayin.

    Not bad actually. I may try it with some 3/4" for my Smittybilt flat steel flares. I like the finished look it gives them. Plus it's a good excuse for me to actually go get a heat gun which I've been needing for awhile.

    If you want paint to stick to plastic, pass a low flame from a propane torch over the piece you want to paint, it breaks the surface glaze from the molding process, paint stays.

    Looks great! So you used the grey electrical conduit stuff? I suppose I could test abs or schedule 40 pvc as well. And you used roofing caulk or silicone? Roofing caulk is more like tar, no? and stays flexible.

    How do you like your tires? I am considering the same or similar in 37 x 12.50 R17.

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zaven O'Bryant , I have liked them so far, but I do have a few gripes about them. I was actually going to do a review on them this week! I Wanted to have them on for a while before reviewing. Stay tuned and subscribe to make sure you see it! But I will say they do have a slight radial pull to the right, but that's fairly normal for a large (37") mud tire. It's barely noticeable, and for the price of the tires it doesn't bother me, but some people are a lot pickier than me and don't mind spending another few hundred bucks to get the best ride possible.

      Fill the pipe with sand. Don't pack it too tightly. Use heated sand that is warmed up a little bit. Makes warming up the part to be bent go faster.
