These are great recipes, but I think to really stay close to the $5.00 (or closer to $10.00 these days), you need to do a bit of planning. Decide which meals use some of the same ingredients, so you can use them more efficiently. For example, if a recipe calls for 1/2 cup of heavy cream, find another one that also needs cream so you don’t end up wasting the remainder of the carton. If you have 2 or 3 that call for broccoli, buying the larger bag is usually cheaper. Just a thought.
Larger bags aren’t cheaper anymore in most cases. Whipping cream can also be frozen for later use or made into ice cream or coffee beverage too. It makes a great cheese as well.
Where I am larger amounts of Potatoes or cheese are still cheaper. I agree about making a meal plan for the week and then using stuff like eggs potatoes and cheese in multiple recipes to help bringing down the prices. But Food prices do seem to be rising really quickly so it might change.
I did not realize u could freeze the heavy cream and it still be good. I don’t know WHY I didn’t realize it but it just never occurred to me Lolol. I freeze my milk a lot so I don’t have to buy it as often. Lol
