    I used to always say “I feel so behind, everyone else is so far ahead of me, I’m not where I thought I would be”. What changed is that I deleted/ left social media 5 months ago. In the last 5 months I haven’t said or FELT behind at all. I actually understand how blessed I am. So the “behind” feeling really is comparison. Great video!! Love your channel ❤

      Totally hear you! Ditching social media feels like cheating the "behind" feeling, doesn't it? For me, it was like stepping off a hamster wheel of curated highlight reels. Suddenly, I had space to appreciate my own journey, flaws and all. ✨ It's crazy how much comparing to filtered versions of other people's lives can steal our joy. Thanks for sharing this, it's a powerful reminder to stay off the comparison treadmill and focus on our own paths!

    When I was in medical college, there was a guy who used to train in my gym. At 19, he had the best physique I had seen and didn't even seem to work that hard. I used to struggle in the gym and still couldn't look fit or get strong.
    I kept training however and last year at 36 years old, I won powerlifting medals at my local state events and feel like I am in the strongest and best shape of my life while the guy from my college who I used to feel jealous of had a dad bod and doesn't even lift any more.
    People are meant to shine at different times. I still feel bad comparing myself to others in my field. Guys who were junior to me in residency have gone on to become great surgeons while I feel I am working at a small hospital, but then I know that feeling low about comparison is the worst thing I can do.. Just keep working and try to be my best.

    Turning 40 this year. I’m at least working full time on a job I’ve been steady at. But I’m definitely not where I want to be aside from having taken good care of my body. I guess what I can take away from this is the advice on longevity because that’s the comparative advantage that I do at least have. There’s also countless directions that I can take it in.

    This video came at just the right time. I’ve been feeling so behind watching people who are younger than me get married, have kids, buying homes, working in my chosen career path, all of the things I want to do. They all seem fit and have their lives together. I’m in my last semester of college and while Im proud of accomplishing what I have, I feel like at 25 I should be a lot further along than I am. Do you remember when you were in high school and people would talk about their plans and timelines for their lives? Mine has not gone that way. It’s a good and bad thing I guess.
    Thank you for talking about this!

      Hang in there, friend! progress isn't always a straight line, and setbacks are just bumps in the road, not detours. We've all been there, staring down the barrel of doubt, but gotta keep reminding ourselves, comparison is the thief of joy. You're on your own unique path, and your time will come.

    You inspired me so much to dare myself to be bold but honest,
    to be looking for new friends who match my vibe,
    to become honored to become their friends, in this attention economy and hustle culture I cherish being me, a little crazy a little shy totally introvert but loving to slow down, take my sweet time to breathe and reflect, enjoy my moments and become intentional with my day to day routine
    Thank you

    • @Existenza.x
      @Existenza.x ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Amazing vibe! That hustle culture can be so noisy, it's refreshing to see someone embrace their own rhythm. Slowing down, breathing, savoring - that's where all the good stuff gets brewed, right? Finding friends who match that energy sounds like a recipe for genuine connection. To being a little crazy, a little shy, and totally unapologetically you! ✨
      P.S. The "honored to be their friends" line? Absolute gold.

    In my thirties and the last single friend in the group, it bothers me sometimes since I do want a husband and kids. But as I am watching my siblings marriages and friends, I am glad my time is different because I am getting more time to work on self growth and working on things that I need to do they don’t lead to a unhappy relationship. Yes sometimes someone getting something first doesn’t mean it’s good or will lasts.

    I love reading the comments and not feeling alone. I hope you all get where you want to be in life ❤️ At 24 I know I’m young but I also feel I’ve wasted so much time. It’s crazy how impactful a short TH-cam video can be. I feel the weight of instagram being less inspiring and more a punch in the face these days so I think best to remove it temporarily as I at least start to create my own art and not have any comparisons. :)

    One way to flip jealousy is saying “All have what she’s having,” or “I’ll have what he’s having,” or even, “This or something better” because you never know when life gives you something better than you imagined 😊

  • @Existenza.x
    @Existenza.x ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. This really resonated with me, especially the part about comparing ourselves to others online. I remember constantly scrolling through Instagram, seeing everyone else's seemingly perfect lives, and feeling like I was falling behind. It wasn't until I realized, as you mentioned, that it's all just a one-dimensional snapshot, and often hides the struggles and complexities behind the scenes.
    Your story about traveling Southeast Asia really hit home. I was in a similar situation a few years ago, stuck in a dead-end job and feeling lost. So, cutting short, it wasn't always easy, but those experiences were transformative and I wouldn't trade them for anything.
    One point I'd like to add is the pressure of the "overnight success" mentality. Everyone's obsessed with blowing up and getting that big break, but as you say, that often leads to burnout and unsustainable growth. I think it's important to remember that progress is rarely linear, and sometimes the best things take time and dedication.

    Objectively I have an average situation for 21 year old stem college student. The problem is not comparing myself with social media, because I don't care for those people or or random colleagues, because they are so gifted it's hard for me to complain against them. The biggest feeling of being left behind gives me the closest people in my social circlee. They usually are ones not as genius or as distant as the others to feel down. Sometimes I wish I had more average or "loser" colleagues to be aware it's not over yet

    I'm on my 24th
    While my friends in the same age have all of the luxury in their life, a house, a car, a well-paid career, etc. I'm still heavily struggling to just survive day by day. Working a minimum-wage job, trying to keep up in the college so I can graduate (2020 hits hard, I was dropped like 2-3 years) pretty much behind everyone else.
    I don't know how long I have to keep trying. The goal post is so far, far, far away from me, a wealty life, well-paid job, a house with big living room and some properties, that's all I need. I'm not born rich so I have to struggle like this. Crawling out of the misery yet still in the misery.
    I wish I could unalive myself.

    I have a terminal illnes. In my workplace there is a female co-worker & she is just damn good at what she does. I would be lying if i say, that i am on the same skill level as her. She is also much braver than me - taking tasks, where she needs to work in another office of our company - nearly 300km away from the office, where we work normally. I would never do that, because i just lack the balls to do so. But no one in our company actually gives a flying fuck about that. I do my job as good as i can, & until now it always worked out just fine. What I can tell from my experience is, that if you are really invested in your work, & you actually give a fuck - that`s extremely valuable.

    comparison makes you feel like shit but if anyone is desperate to know if you are in the right path you probably are. don’t judge your choices too harshly as good or bad it just is and either way you will get to where you want to be.

    • @Existenza.x
      @Existenza.x ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha! Totally get the "feeling like shit" part. Comparison is a sneaky devil, always whispering doubts even when things are going alright. But I love what you said about desperation being a sign you're on the right path. Sometimes the deepest dives mean you flail around a bit before finding your rhythm.
      And judging choices? Forget it. There's no "good" or "bad" when it comes to carving your own way. Every twist and turn leads to the next chapter, even the seemingly wrong ones. Have a great day!

    Life is not a race, not a rat race specifically, it's about living (your own life) in the moment while doing your part (for yourself, as a father, mother, etc.), because if it's a race, the dead end will be either boredom of "success" or death.

    What if you feel far behind because you're a 39 years female so my biological clock is ticking, which is something I don't have control over. With everything and anything else, I am behind than most by age, but that really doesn't bother me. Just not too sure how I can get over feeling behind because I don't have kids (I want kids), and my clock is ticking, so I may never get it because it might not happen before I stop being able to have kids.

      I’m sorry to hear that. I am going through divorce.
      It gets better, I promise. Don’t give up on yourself. Talk to your family.
      Focus on becoming someone you can be proud of ❤

    Look what happened to Jen Shaw. You know she compared herself and had to have “it all” and now she had a hard reality check behind steel doors, in another state. Served humble pie…I like tres leches myself but I’ll take some humble pie too.

    Thank you for the video.
    My only concern is that I kinda am picking up that you might have partial attachment to staying in that basement when you hit that low. Sounds like you might still be holding onto something there. I love the message though and appreciate the great work.

    But I hate this comparaison that people must be at a worst state so I can feel good about myself.. I wanna stop this whole comparaison

    It's called "envy". Cognitive behavioural therapy techniques work for that.
