      Not sure how old he is, but I’m guessing getting a miter saw down off high shelf will get old. My back started to hurt just looking at it

      Hi I'm Ben. We debated about miter saw placement over this very concern. Im 51 years old with bad shoulders. Bottom line is its a struggle for me to load and unload it no matter where the hell it is. So , we stuck it up high.

    Nice Job, this Resembles Ron Paulks Trailer. The cabinet and drawer box jointing is very interesting. It actually looks pretty cool in the drawers. And the numbering is what just convince me to get a CC machine. That was cool.

    I didn't want to hold Ben up too long that day as he was already taking time out to stop by before a job. If enough people are interested I'll see if he will let me go through the drawers and see how he organized everything. He used table saw dados in 5mm hardwood plywood underlayment for the dividers in the drawers. Super easy and basic.

    just curious, did he happen to weigh the trailer before and after? Be interesting to know how much of the capacity he used up. Given that it's a horse trailer, I don't imagine he's anywhere close to maxing it out. Looks like a really well laid out setup. I bet just having it look that good makes a good impression on his customers.

    • @benheath86
      @benheath86 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't weigh it at all but I had the same philosophy. Its designed to haul three horses. Ive had horses all my life and I dont think we've got nearly that much weight in there

  • @FearsomeWarrior

    Great video. I want to see if the tile saw gets a better solution later on. A small shelf or some plywood hooks/cups to hold it then strap it. Looks like it’s just held up by cords now.
    Curious how much effort getting the miter saw down is too. Ugh.

    • @JayBates
      @JayBates  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tile saw is probably going to stay that way. He said he rarely ever uses it.

    • @benheath86
      @benheath86 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its hanging on a very strong metal hook. Honestly Its a pain in the ass to get out but we don't have to pull it out very often so it was our best solution. Its a cumbersome piece of equipment for sure.

    forgot sticker . No Tools Left In This Trailer Over Night

  • @bwillan
    @bwillan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I understand the guy had the horse trailer already, so this design was made to accommodate that floor plan. I think there is a lot of weird angles and too many doors which leads to wasted storage space. If one was starting a trailer from scratch, it would be better to follow the Ron Paulk trailer storage designs for either the Awesome Rolling Toolbox (ART) or the Smaller Awesome Rolling Toolbox (SMART).

    • @jeffccr3620
      @jeffccr3620 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct bwillian, this setup is more for a guy that does make ready, maintenance or remodel type work ect. The rolling toolbox is a better setup for us guys that do trim ect. I do mostly custom patio kitchens so i have to setup my trailer similar to the rolling toolbox plus a rolling box that has a Shaper and Jessem router lift and 13 inch Planer and jointer for cabinets and doors

    • @bwillan
      @bwillan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffccr3620 How you layout your trailer is up to you and your particular tool storage needs. I was more referring to using a horse trailer with the angled walls and number of doors versus using a plain rectangular cargo trailer like Ron used in his ART and SMART builds.

    • @benheath86
      @benheath86 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I chose a horse trailer for the quality of the construction compared to a standard cargo trailer. The angles did create challenges but we managed to get it pretty well organized and so far we love it

      thought the setup up in the video looks cleaner and more proper than the ones I've seen

Mine is similar but i used regular drawer pulls and 3\4 inch aluminum strap. If you have ever installed cyclone fence you will understand what iam talking about. Post,bracket aluminum flat rod to stretch tight ect.
