  • When installing a line output converter to add aftermarket amplifiers to a factory car audio system it is critical that we perform three wiring checks. These checks make sure we tap into the correct speaker wire, and make sure we pick the right LOC for the job. Let's learn!

Good video, very informative. The only other step I do is to check the clipping limit before the LOC. I have found most stock systems get to about 2/3's on the volume. I use a 1khz test tone, and an osciliscope (Seeed is my choice of due to ease of use) like can be found on some multimeters. Of course, the DM-RTA does this too.

Hi Mark. Great video and very informative!! You are very knowledgeable about car audio. I have started watching your videos and just went I thought I started to understand everything you introduce something else that leaves me scratching my head. I want to add upgraded rear speakers and a sub to my 2022 crew cab Silverado with factory Bose and a factory head unit I’m just upgrading the rear door speakers and adding a 10inch sub. Can you tell me please what I actually need to complete the task. I see all these different components and add ins to the install. What exactly do I need or maybe one amp to handle the whole job. Please help!! So confused. Again your videos are incredibly informative and I enjoy watching because of the technical aspect that you bring to the videos! Great job! But if you can please point me in the correct direction.

Question I have a two-channel loc with base lift . I currently have one input channel hooked from the factory subwoofer . I also want to wire a 4 channel amplifier. Should I use door speakers for input coming out of the stock amplifier in order to feed a full bandwidth of signal? I would imagine I'm not getting the right signal into it in order to have an output correct for a four-channel amp for mids and highs?

So I've I stalled an jvc kwm745 head unit paired with an audison sr5.600. I have looked at the out put of the head unit using an oscilloscope there no cliping at full voltage . Although I have sent the gain to matched the pre out
I was thinking is there any reason why I cannt match it it to the speakers, which are audison rated to 100w rms @ 2ohm. Or set the gain as close to speaker max before oscilloscope shows cliping.
    What are ur thoughts

To clear up information on some LOC and DSP they say maximum input of 40Vpp which is only 14.8V on an AC volt meter. Measuring peak to peak (Vpp) is not what a multimeter does.

Have not even got 30 seconds into the video and I know with watching this one it is going to tell me hopefully everything I need to know to add hopefully only needing the LC2i-Pro to do the job of connecting to my 09 Accord EX-L with (premium sound/NO navi). I have a project truck that is my build and wanting to throw just a little bump in the trunk in the new daily driver. Already have another XS D3400 for under the hood that will be sufficient for a DB Euphoria 1200.1 class D amp and a couple entry level Skar SDR-12s I got some time ago for the better halfs vehicle that she did not approve of, LOL!!!! I am hoping this video will tell me on the factory (Premium Sound system) I can use the stock 8" sub wires in the rear deck that I hope will give me the proper voltage to use said LOC and have been told doing so would after all adjustments and tuning made, be able to use factory sub volume control on the deck itself... That would be a perfect scenario of course! If you have ANY WORDS OF WISDOM TO SHARE with a REBORN Enthusiast please by all means let me know. I am a sponge to the industry as things have come a very long way since my earlier very basic knowledge set up years!!! I truly appreciate the way you explain EVERYTHING in a very detailed fashion. Very easy to follow your expertise!!!! Respectfully submitted by an eager to learn more always!!! Thank you for your services!!!!

Question. My cars radio has it's own factory amplifier. When connecting my LC2 for my subs only. Should I use the speakers wires before it reaches the amplifiers (input connector) or the wires afterwards (output connector to speakers) to speakers, or does it matter since the LC2 can regulate the voltage?

Soooo I may be incorrect, but if you’re gonna hook up a LOC, let’s say for a subwoofer for you, you wanna tap into the speaker wire going to your already existing subwoofer, or the rear speakers or whichever of your factory sound system’s speakers deal with the lower frequencies, since you wanna take those lower frequencies into your aftermarket sub. So yes after the factory amp. As long as it’s going to your factory sub yes. Don’t want to get the tweeter speaker wire because there won’t be any lower frequencies sent to it.

If you got low frequencies already in the wire your pulling the audio from you can just use a regular passive LOC. But I just ended up getting the LC2i pro anyway cause it just seems like it be cleaner. Iv heard pulling to low of a frequency into the LC2i can cause problems but I haven’t had any mine was hard to figure out cause I had a DVC @ 2ohm x2 factory sub with 4 wires to it. Damn that was a pain.

Hey Mark I just installed a small system in my 2018 subaru crosstrek.
I have kept the stock system so used an lc7i into a 5 channel amp. I have 2 questions.
#1- when tuning the the sub on the amp side what is the best way to do that in regards to using accubass?
#2- the first thing may solve the 2nd but trying to set the accubass per the instructions I have to bring it to almost all the way on for it to do anything (I do have bad roll off of the bass at volume 30) but when I change the volume after that it's just a random on off switch of the bass (it randomly goes like max bass at different volume levels ... running a test tone or music) any idea why it would do that?
Side note today I turned off auto for channel 3 and used jumper wires. Just incase

  • @Y0ungg_Kev
    @Y0ungg_Kev 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Something I don't like about the lc2i is how high my subs play. Before i had my channels connected to a high-low converter and my bass would sound clean, but once i replaced it for the lc2i, my subs play more mid frequency despite how much i play with the lc2i and my amp's frequency filter.

If you are running them to the amplifier in the same wire channel with the power and remote, you can introduce EMI into the system. I would run the RCAs on the opposite side of the vehicle.

@@hendrikhennie6811 Yes, depends on power levels and the quality of the cabling. The good practices mentioned above are ideal. I have always run my cabling separately too. Often I will later change speakers or amps to better or newer quality, while increasing the power levels, and not needing to pull the car apart again to move the wiring.

It's usually best practice to run signal wires on the opposite side of the car as the power wire to reduce the chance of any interference.
That being said if you're only running low-pass signal wires for a subwoofer, you should be okay to run them together.

My audio system in my 2020 f150 I have two amps 1500 watt one running 4 8s at parallel for 2 olms and a 1800 that was running two kicker lc7 12s at 2 olms my amp is audiopipe. The amp is wired from batter and ground from the bed but keeps blowing subs or killing the voice coils or whateva it’s doing. I tested the amps from the battery like one of your videos stated and it was at 13.54 volts and the volts on the amp was at 13.50. So that’s a 0.04 volt loss which is not much so why are the speakers blowing.
