Seems like great vlog series 😊 I'm relatively short into reef hobby - 1 year, so it's great to see another tanks being set up from scratch to learn more from experienced reefers. Good luck with this cool place!
Super cool place and tanks and nice little set up with this new tank look very nice good luck in everything you do like me I just star on the salt water hobby this past December i only have a clown fish and a condy anemone they are doing well and hopefully start putting some soft coral in this thank which is a fluval evo 13.5 gallon can not wait to see all the new corals you are going to put in this place thank you
Jake I need some advice. So you mentioned in this video that tanks with corals don’t need to be cycled. I’m currently setting up a 10 gallon quarantine tank because I’m receiving some zoas tomorrow. So I shouldn’t worry about the tank being cycled ? And should I worry if later down the road the tank begins to cycle?
A little thing you said that intrigue me : Coral and Bacteria only. I assumed the main reason is purely to avoid problem and coral on long run. I admit i do love seeing all those little hitchacker, all those little live form in saltwater :) It's a interesting point of view, it remind me tropica with there plants grow inside of a pot to avoid contamination.
I'm a sucker for hitchikers as well, but wild rock involves some risk, esp with potential larval stages of some predatory worms that can grow to sizes that can take out fish if not addressed. That said, I suspect some clean up crews will still be involved in the flats...? Gotta have wrasse for pest control backup, no?
Love it bro. Pump out them Videos .... you need to put a kegerator in it somewhere and maybe a place to crash because I see you spending a lot of time there. Lol. Enjoy ✌🏼
I know it's only 8 gallons, but putting that tank on that pedestal that is in the middle of the bottom pane would leave me uneasy. That said I think putting in something like a blue damsel would be neat, super cheap fish, but has amazing metallic blue coloration, and with just one fish no worries about aggression. Can't wait to see those coral flats up and running.
Wow love that first tank in your studio...looks awesome...i was going to suggest a piston shrimp and a goby pair but realized you dont have sand in the nano so why dont u go with a small royal gamma...
Captive bred bangaii cardinal...somehow seems like a nice minimalist fish. Also, will you have to cycle the tank before a fish or do you have a trick for that?
Yes I WILL need to cycle the tank before putting the fish in, but it'll be in QT for a couple weeks before anyway during which time the tank is naturally cycling.
Hey Jake, couple of questions. You said in the last video that your water was really good. So just running mechanical filtration and charcoal. What constitutes good tap water for you? Our Tap water is around 75 TDS. I am also intrigued as to how you are funding this, but I understand if you do not want to discuss that. Thanks for the videos.
I am funding this very, shall we say, creatively. I have a lot of friends and that's only going to take me so far, and eventually I will need the viewers' help. Good water means it's free or very low in phosphates & Chloramines and close to zero in any kind of heavy metals. TDS just tells you the TOTAL of what's in your water, so it's kind of silly to use an RO to remove 100ppm of Ca & CO3 when we're just going to put it back in with our seawater mixes.
This is the water report for my local tap water. Seems pretty good, although doesn't state Phosphate: www.wellingtonwater.co.nz/your-water/drinking-water/whats-in-your-water/chemical-analysis-wainuiomata/
my damsels are very territorial, but the other fish put them in their place. When i put food in they dont even go out for it, thats how territorial they are
Jealous of your enthusiasm and joy of this great project! Please keep up the updates. We are living vicariously through you. But whats the music artist you used in this vid?
Congrats on first tank runnin. I like how the hammers are sittin up.on those stands..what are those if ya dont mind me asking Lookin forward to the next one
Thats pretty cool Topic. No Cycle, please hit up that topic. But quick question, You mentioned calibrated to 25 Degrees. What do you mean? Is this during the winter? Thanks Jake
A single fish🤔 i recall asking you for the name of a dart fish name that you had in a tank. Looked like a purple firefish but less bright. I think that fish or a yasha goby pistol combo would do great in that little nano
Seems like great vlog series 😊 I'm relatively short into reef hobby - 1 year, so it's great to see another tanks being set up from scratch to learn more from experienced reefers. Good luck with this cool place!
Thanks for letting us know you may add a coral before the cycle even starts . Can't wait to see your tank cycle . The beginning of a Great Adventure

It's moving along. You have a tnk so now it's truly home. It's like you have your own coral play land.

just make sure to keep proper temp & salinity, decent flow & necessary light, and everything else will fall into place.
Amazing again! Cant wait to see the progress!
Nice work Jake loving the regular vlogs keep them coming
A little thing you said that intrigue me :

Amazing tank! Maybe a small kupang damsel? Lots of solid colour in a small package!
Jake you've come a long way brother!!!! Woww

Am I the only person who likes these videos before I’ve even watched them? 😂 cute setup!!
Hands down best nano fish is the tailspot blenny!! I have a few tanks but in my 10 gallon the one and only fish is a tailspot blenny so underrated
Love the whole setup 👍
Love it bro. Pump out them Videos .... you need to put a kegerator in it somewhere and maybe a place to crash because I see you spending a lot of time there. Lol. Enjoy ✌🏼
Loving all the updates! Baby domino damsel? I just got one for a nano and it’s quickly become my favorite fish.

Get a black and white Davincii clownfish, that would be awesome, live the vids, keep it up man👌👍
Really nice job my friend
i have some Hammer Coral in my tank too, one of my favorites.
Nice and simple love it
This is so dope and clean looking. Maybe add some sand and a little goby of some sort? Looks sweet tho budy
I think a nice little firefish would be a perfect addition

Already have a perfect Gramma in my home tank, but there will definitely be some Grammas in the studio later on.
What heater did you put in your nano tank?
Lifegard preset 50 watt
Captive bred bangaii cardinal...somehow seems like a nice minimalist fish. Also, will you have to cycle the tank before a fish or do you have a trick for that?

What filtation are you using in the filter?
Nothin yet, but will add as needed
If you want a single fish, do a damsel of some sort!! They have so much personality and the perfect solitary/single fish for a nano tank :)
my damsels are very territorial, but the other fish put them in their place. When i put food in they dont even go out for it, thats how territorial they are
did you use the pump that comes with the tank? Absolutely love the set up. subscribed
Any news regarding this tank?

Congrats on first tank runnin. I like how the hammers are sittin up.on those stands..what are those if ya dont mind me asking

It's about someone asked about the custom coral stands. I just cut them out of some random plastic packaging from a fidget cube.
Did you make those little clear coral racks? Looking great as always! Congrats!
Royal Gramma or a Firefish are a couple of my favorite fish.
would i be able to get the light separately in any way?
Do you dose this tank?
Very nice nano reef
Jake how about purple dottyback also will you be selling coral frags?
I'm going for a Pink-Streaked Wrasse, Pseudocheilinops ataenia. Do you like them? P-p-pap, I got that temp reader too. Keep it up.
Should but some sand and rock in there too, and a Green Mandarin Dragonet! 🐠👍
domino damsel,peppermint srimp,an 2 snails
It's Moe! He's really getting around.
Nice Nano tank plus you educated me. I thought you also need to cycle a reef only tank that's for the tip.
Thats pretty cool Topic. No Cycle, please hit up that topic. But quick question, You mentioned calibrated to 25 Degrees. What do you mean? Is this during the winter? Thanks Jake

Three words: 100. Mb. Up.
