I'm going to be setting up a Macroalgae tank in a few months, and as far as tank maturity goes, is live/mature rock the only way to make the system "mature enough" for Macroalgae? What if i were to get live sand and/or bottled bacteria to jump start the cycle, have you tried methods like that before with macros?
I haven't really had much luck with the magic bottles of bacteria. Macroalgae absolutely hates cycling aquaria. Basically the brown algae ugly stage needs to be finished before adding macro or avoided using the technique I used in this tank. Maturity is more than bacteria, it's all the little critters and sponges etc too
I love macralgae , one day i want a macroalgae aquarium.
I find many similarities with a freshwater planted aquariums .
Yup pretty much just the salt water is different
Nice breakdown, excellent observations.
I can't find that substrate in the us what do you think of Seachem Fluorite, or AquaNatural Diamond Black?
Thanks I've never used those so I don't know, you will have to experiment
What do you dose for it please tell me!
whats the lighting used?
I have a weak memory. You have codium fragile macroalgae? 🤔 And it was definitely a good idea to put that small aquarium, I think even you have learned new things 👍
Regular waterchanges is the key 🔑👌
Looking good mate! Your Dove snails are going for gold with eggs on that back wall! 😅 the underside of my tunze nano scraper seems to be a favourite egg laying spot! Totally agree with using mature rock, great video!
Thanks mate. Getting baby snails in all systems now, very happy
Lovely tank. Won't the substrate pull out the phosphate from the water similar to GFO?
It removes, stores and releases back nutrients when needed according to the description
Would it be better if I remove the phosfate remover media, carbon media and replace it with bio media? Like those blocks to grow media on?
😁🤘
