    Not all people are subsidized by the government My husband and I pay our own premiums with our own money, it is a huge burden on our finances but it needs to be done as we are getting old and My wife is very ill needing specialized medication and has Oxygen at home and she had to purchase her own portable machine for the car. So make the people who work for the government pay their own premiums and then use those premiums for the public hospitals.
    which is a total mess.that is why they want to put their hands in the tax payer money again. It has to stop

    • @AIRview2
      @AIRview2 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Exactly. Why didn't they use the tax money for what it is intended! Not enrich personal pockets! No medical services will be what is left! Look at the public hospitals!

We live in a democracy, and not the absolute monarchy that South Africa, and the rest of Africa was before Europeans came and introduced the concepts of humanity, equality, and democracy to the African people; so you are allowed to critisize incompetence in the government. He is the minister of health in a democratic South Africa, not the king of prehistoric Africa you peabrain, that you can't critisize. I am an actaul taxpayer, whose taxes can fund three teachers salaries a month, and as such have a vested interest in how my taxes are spent, with particular disdain when it funds the salaries of incompetent ministers and enriches their comrade tenderpreneur buddies. You do understand that one of the biggest reasons that black people are discriminated against in every corner of the world is because you guys seemingly don't understand how modern societies work, hence you support leaders who mess up economies and countries, leading to the perceptions that black people can't run countries, and are thus inherently inferior to everyone else.

    This is false information.
    The country does not spend 8.5% of GDP on health. The country does not have money to spend. People who work and earn money can use that money to buy Kentucky Fried Chicken or health insurance with their after-tax money. Buying private health insurance is a discretionary expense.
    It also happens that those same people who spend their own money to buy insurance for themselves, are also the tax payers who pay for the rest. Therefore, the 9 million employed tax payers spend about R 250 billion on their own helth and through their tax paymenty contribute about the same amount to the other 50 millions healthcare.
    Futher, the WHO defines health as "... a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
    If the government were honest about human rights, they should look at Article 23(1) of the Universal Declaration of Human rights that says "Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment." and Article 23(3) "Everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring for himself and his family an existence worthy of human dignity, and supplemented, if necessary, by other means of social protection."
    The right to health is closely tied to the right to work and the right to take care of his or her family.
    The South African Government's failure is its inability to create employment for its people. If you want to remove inequality, create a middle class through employment.
    NHI is a futile attempt to heal a septic wound by covering it with a bandaid.
    Motsoaledi and his ilk misleads the population. NHI will not ensure protect the health of South Africans.
