Listen to any of the songs from Shogun or The Sin and The Sentence, two of the best Trivium albums in my opinion.
Okay so Trivium are a weird blend of heavy, thrash and metalcore, with a little bit of prog sprinkled on top, and if you check out their entire discography you can see how they evolve which I find pretty cool. Their last two albums with their new drummer Alex Bent has been absolute bangers. Since you review a lot of prog bands on your channel, I recommend Shogun from their album Shogun (lol) as I believe it is their proggiest song to date.
Also all of the members (Matt Heafy - vocals and rhythm guitar) (Corey Beaulieu - lead guitar) (Paolo Gregoletto - bass) (Alex Bent - drums) in Trivium have their own youtube channels (except Corey), and also stream on Twitch.
I second Shogun from Shogun. A really amazing song
Yeah, theres defo some more Dream Theater inspired proggy stuff on the Shogun album. Then, youve got 80s metal themed slashers like "Insurrection" to settle the balance. Shogun as an album, really brought the band back into the limelight again. After "The Crusade" didnt live up to the admittingly media driven hype , Shogun sliced and diced through the naysayers. Mind you- I really like The Crusade. I like the 80s metal, Metallica/Megadeth feel to it. And the title track is an incredible instrumental!

@@dorukyucebasoglu9539 They arrived on the scene outta nowhere, young and eager to make an impression. Metal Hammer and Kerrang magazine took them under their wings and hyped them as the next big ting. But then a year later in 2006, along comes "The Crusade". Great album, but it had its cynics. And yeah vocally, Matts all clean tone vocals in the style of Hetfield on that album drew in more Metallica comparisons. Despite too, a coveted support slot on Iron Maiden tour that year,a backlash begun in places. This, just one year after all the hype. Fair play to the band though-they broke on through to the other side ,away from the shite flung against them. "Shogun" and "In Waves" were excellent comeback albums. They really now have harnessed and honed their own style- and they have absolutely smashed it on their last 2 albums.

I do think you would like Haken, they remind me of Dream Theater with a blend of meshugga and a hint of tool in some songs, and they have no growls ;)
Carousel would be a rad choice that song is amazing.
I highly recommend either A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation or Bleed Into Me by Trivium 😊

Check out "Bending The Arc To Fear" from the same album. It is heavier. "Wake (the end is nigh)" is another good option as it highlights Matt Heafy's clean vocals very well.
I watched this yesterday but didn’t get a chance to comment. BUT, since you brought them up - Opeth - Heart In Hand has 0 growls and is an amazing song!

Definitely recommend checking out the track “beyond oblivion” from the sin and the sentence album.
Finally 💪💪 other good ones are Shogun, Down from the Sky, Throes of Perdition, Forsake not the Dream, In Waves, Sickness unto You, Ascendancy, Suffocating Sight, Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr, Rain, Beyond Oblivion, Shattering the Skies above, the Defiant, Amongst the Shadows and the Stones, Catastrophist, Beyond Oblivion, the Wretchedness Inside, Saver the Hand (that's only a part of their catalog 😉)
For the metallica elements you'd need to listen to the earlier trivium releases. They've switched their style a few times over the years. Definitely worth listening to songs from different albums to get a feel of what they're all about.
Vocally you'll also find the roars/screams come and go in certain albums/songs. For instance there are none in silence in the Snow or Vengeance Falls (not an album I'd recommend personally)... Their break through was Ascendancy and that's probably still my favourite... Though I am a big fan of Shogun, In Waves, and The Sin and The Sentence.

Incidentally, their breakthrough album, "Ascendency" will prolly get some more requests for you to listen to. Thats from 2005,and thats when the "New Metallica" labels were put to them. The average age of the band at the time was 19, and they were heralded as the next big ting. They never quite got the same arena headline status as suggested, but they've earned acclaim with respected releases since,and have a big following. A Lot of their songs will appeal to ya, especially the ones wherby he sings all the way thru'. Yer man on vocals -Matt Heafy- has a massive presence on Twitch, be it gaming, or playing guitar. Hes on it all the time, so you mite check his stream .

Idk why you had to remove the video. Usually they don't ever take down videos and would deffinetly talk to you if you reach out for some reason. Maybe because of the intro at the beginning so it's 2 songs. Either way they're very cool.

I like Modern Metal for its approach to guitar, but in terms of vocals I slightly prefer clean vocals like Matt's just because I was raised on those Maiden/Metallica-type vocals, and that's what I hear in Matt's singing.
So, I've been listening to Trivium since Ascendancy (2005) and I would recommend you listen to Sickness Unto You". I'm not sure if you're an animal lover or not but it's a song off of their new album that you can feel Matt's pain that he has in the lyrics of the song. It's an experience if nothing else. The song is about his dog that he had to unfortunately put down and how he felt during and afterward.

Dude. Same on the vocal preferences. Old Trivium is much less clean. But most of their albums have a sound that is somewhat different from the rest.
Anything off of The Crusade sounds like a Metallica cover band.
The latest album and the one before it, The Sin and the Sentence are the only ones to feature the current drummer, Alex Bent, and are among their most polished work.
I recommend ‘Beyond Oblivion’ for something from The Sin and the Sentence or, if you want a more epic Dream Theater-esque track, do ‘Shogun’ from the album of the same name. It’s an 11 minute masterpiece.
Jump on down the trivium rabbit hole! Their evolution since ascendency is incredible. Also lead man Matt Heafy is huge on twitch. Check it out.

Hey Drew, I would love to see what you have to say to ''NANOWAR OF STEEL - Uranus feat. Michael Starr''. I Just found this song and it has somewhere the same ''Hypa Hypa - Eskimo Callboy'' humor. Been a massive trivium fan since their early days, the metallica influence is shown better in their ascendancy album, however, to get into trivium nowadays, i’d suggest just about any track off of the sin and the sentence(Beyond Oblivion probably the most) or Throes of Perdition or Down From The Sky from Shogun.
Fun fact, Joe Duplantier from Gojira taught Matt how to do the pick scrapes when they toured together.

I knew you'd dig this as I felt it has components of what you've been responding the most to, regarding the metal side of tings. This track is fecking brilliant. Blazing away at Sonic the Hedgehog speeded exciting pace, sky splittin' solos and swooshed with Gojia slides. This is from their most recent album,and really the whole tink is in this vein. On the same album- "The Catastrophist" is incredible. More melodic soaring choruses,and some well balanced shouting here and there too. Just give the album a spotify/youtube and see whatya tink. Stay safe in the new Lockdown,mate. Tanks again for the Trivium listen.

Trivium album the crusade is a modern take on metallica master of puppets album
Growls take a while to get used to. My first more extreme metal band I got into was Childen of Bodom, but I still couldn't get used to the vocals and it took me some time listening to nothing but CoB to get used to them. Now, 10 years later, there is no metal too harsh for me, BUT I cannot stand bad growls. Pig squeals, brutal death metal/most deathcore vocals don't sound good to me. I love Opeth's growls because Mikael really puts the emphasis on pronunciation instead of "brutality".
Try listening to Down From The Sky from their Shogun album. Definitely one of their best albums if not the best album from them.

Honestly, at this point , and for some time, Trivium had their own sound. It`s not even a "sound" more of a flavor, cause most of their album sound different.
