I've never clicked on a video so fast LOL. I never expected to see one of my favourite bands on here with out me being the one to request it haha. I was going to show you them eventually. I love this band so much that I have a tattoo of their logo.
Hahahaha awesome man! Jeremiah is a good friend and has recommended some great stuff already. That's a sweet tattoo I bet!
Less than a minute in and already commenting about loving transitions... What a song to react to when it comes to transitions. Let's go!
Thank you so much for watching!
Ah. I always feel like I need a cigarette after listening to this song, and I don’t even smoke. Amazing, as always.
Hahaha. I imagined a "Songs That Make Nonsmokers Need a Cigarette" playlist. 🤣🤣🤣
This whole album is worth checking out. My understanding is that the theme of it was myths, legends and other cultural histories. Love that more reactors are coming across it. I also think you'd be impressed with their new drummer.
I do love a good drummer.
That and in particular, war/conflict is a connecting thematic chain amongst nearly all if not all of the album.
Which makes sense… war is such a common part of mankind’s history and a lot of the most famous legends come from tales of battles and events surrounding wars.
the drums on this are just... *chefs kiss*
its really telling that trivium were really good when they had this drummer and only really got close to that level again when they picked up their current drummer who is a technical monster
"Technical monster!" I love the sound of that!
This is their 4th album, their first being in 2003...but they really got their break & became heavily known with their 2nd album "Ascendancy" in 2005. Ascendancy & Shogun are often regarded as their 2 best albums within the fanbase.
Their last 3 albums with their new drummer have also been great though with them somewhat returning more to their earlier sound & bringing some of the prog elements & vibes from Shogun back into the mix.
So much of what I listen to is from bands that have been around since at least the 90's, so I'm actually surprised this is a "younger" band. Thanks for the insights! I'd love to do more from them.
What a pleasant surprise!! I hope to see them live sometime before I die lol
got a buddy who only likes their material where Matt heafy doesn't sound like James Hatfield from Metallica 😂😂
I've never had that issue, I enjoy pretty much their entire discography
Definitely picking up from the comments that the vocals vary wildly...Interested to check out more!
Trivium definitely do get better with time .
Glad you liked the song! It's actually rather unusual for them - they don't do a lot of long, proggy stuff. They do incorporate prog into their style, but I would like to see them do more epic, multi-movement pieces like this. They are insanely good musicians and songwriters, though. Their newest album, In The Court of the Dragon, has some long-ish songs and is one of their heaviest albums. Their albums are kind of all over the place stylistically, spanning everything from speed metal to pop metal. Shogun is an all-time classic, though. I doubt they'll ever top it.
I really appreciate you turning me on to this stuff man! Absolutely awesome for sure.
Thats the way to end an album, holy crap. 😂😂😂❤❤
Pretty intense. Hahaha
Trivium is good. Saw them live two times at festivals. Never got hooked as I did with Opeth, for example, but it's a good band for sure.
Excited to hear more!
This band is FIRE. Back in 2005 they quickly became a favorite. PS - trivium has like 13 albums or something and each album his vocals are different. He blew out his vocal chords sometime around this album than learned how to sing better. Cheers bro. Hope you do more.
Love that you got some Jordan Peterson in the background. Love that dude. :)
Also their newest drummer alex bent is a damn BEAST. check out the sin and the sentence.
Ah dang, wow. James LaBrie did the same thing to his voice. Thank you for this background!
And yes, I have been a fan of JBP for a relatively long time. Watched a lot of his college lectures, read both 12 Rules books and Maps of Meaning...saw him in St. Louis, MO not long ago. Wonderful stuff.
I'll add The Sin and the Sentence to my list!
I've never been able to get into Trivium. It's a weird mix between modern groove/melodic metal and more brutal metal. I don't dislike it, it just doesn't get me hooked. They're great musicians though.
Originally, the band name was to signify the blending of metalcore, thrash, and melodeath. Hence, the Tri in Trivium. Over the years, the ratios have changed. Your observation is pretty correct.
I mean, this didn't rocket to my top 5 or anything, but I liked it a lot. I hear you!
You need to react to the band Wintersun's live rehearsals at sonic pump studios
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll put it on the ever-expanding list!

Sounds good man! hope you do
I love this album. They kinda lost me with their new stuff though
Well, I can't really speak to new vs old Trivium yet, but that's good to know when I return to them for another video.
The music, yes.
The vocals, not so much.
Every record of Triviums has quite different vocals. :)
