Your video confirmed my suspicions about my daughter's machine - thanks! I ended up buying a new carburetor from e*** because I couldn't get replacement gaskets for my original. It came with all the gaskets and all the filters, including fuel and air, for less than $30. I fixed it today and used it to cut my grass before returning it to her.
You could try taking the air filter off, prop open the butterfly, the coin shaped object that sits behind the air filter, put a little gas in it and try starting, if it runs and shuts off it's the carburetor. If it isn't I would check the condition of the spark plug next.
Taking you on your word that you thoroughly cleaned every little bit, because I've been duped before when I thought I cleaned it correctly only to find a tiny bit plugging it up, I would start working my way back, good spark plug, consistent spark, fuel delivery, timing,.etc
Well there's plenty of information out there to assist. In my experience most issues occur with fuel. Spark, compression, fuel, timing, intake and exhaust valves. If you can pinpoint which you will most likely find your problem.
@@Neighborhoodgo2guy right now I haven’t even put fuel in it. It was out on the street for free. Built in 2001. Iv cleaned the carb bowl, and the insects out of the air filter, it’s got oil and the engine turns, spark plug looks ok. There’s rust under the deck but it looks in ok condition. I’ll check for spark and then try some fuel and see if it turns before I change oil or filter.

I just fixed my john deere carb using your video. I just stopped by to say thanks!

Nice video. The Briggs Quantum is a great engine.
Bought mine at a yard sale yesterday same model ran good and ran out of gas now won’t stay running would that be the gas or use higher octane? Or carb

Do you have a manual for this model?
No,I don't.
@@Neighborhoodgo2guy damn. I just got one of these as street bounty and have no experience with engines or petrol mowers

@@Neighborhoodgo2guy I have a Briggs and Stratton what should the valve setting on it be if you would know
I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's .005-.007 intake and .007-.009 exhaust. Good luck
@@Neighborhoodgo2guy thank you for the info the mower was given to me
