    Had the same issues. Just purchased a Z355E, used, for a great price but has issues. Would start up and run for a few minutes, then cut off. Replaced plugs, filters, new fuel pump, oil change and even removed fuel tank, drained old fuel and reinstalled. Nothing worked. Watched your video, and went back in and replaced fuel and vacuum lines. So far, so good. Mowed the whole yard, no stalling at all. Seems like I see very little fuel in filter, but continues to run, so I guess that did the trick. Thank You for your help, your video probably saved me a fortune being next step was bringing it to the shop. Excellent video 100%

    I'll put this for all to see as I gave this info in my reply and unless you are a nut and read the treads you won't see it. I had same symptoms and changed all fuel and vacuum lines, but it ended up being a clog in the pick up tube in the gas tank. I blew air back from the fuel filter to the tank, cleared the line and it runs great now. I guess I or someone (there are a few of us that use it) must have run the mower with the gas cap off and clippings got into the tank and eventually clogging the pick up. A clue was that there was clippings in the fuel filter. Great video and it got me on the right path to solve the problem, THANKS!

    Would it run only on choke? If I switch my throttle to just high or low it’ll do this and then turn off but if I leave it on choke, the speed all the way up it’ll stay running high rpm’s but now it hardly runs. Do you think it’s this also? I’ve cleaned out my gas tank only

    • @CopperBarnHomestead

      @@Treyboi15 thanks for watching and your comment. Running only on choke is often a sign of a dirty carb particularly a clogged idle jet. Now that it isn’t running at all it definitely could be deteriorating fuel lines. The ethanol in our gas is usually to blame for both issues. Good luck and let us know what you find out. Hi there! Great video! I have the same issue and have replaced fuel pump and filter. If I blow through the air line it travels easily to the carburetor. If I remove the air line and blow directly into the tank from the nozzle, it’s darned near impossible to get air into the tank. Should air move freely into the tank? Thanks!

    • @CopperBarnHomestead
      @CopperBarnHomestead  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks so much for watching and commenting. I’m not 100% sure exactly what you are doing in your testing but generally yes any of the fuel or vacuum lines should be unobstructed and easily have air pass through them. These fuel lines deteriorate from the inside and start to break down making them not flow fuel or air depending on the line. The problem we had was fixed by replacing all the lines. I tried to determine which exact one was blocked but wasn’t able to tell. Replacing all (which is still only 3 or 4) the fuel and vent lines fixed the problem. The mower is still running perfectly today from this fix. Best of luck! Let us know how it works out for you. We appreciate you watching and commenting and hope you have a great day! Be safe!

      Thanks for watching and your comment. They didn’t appear to have anything wrong from the outside. The inside was falling apart and had loose pieces of rubber flaking off. They were definitely bad on the inside just not visibly from the outside. Thanks again, have a great day and be safe!

    Great Video! I have a z375r with a 25hp Briggs. I can use it for about an hour or so and then it will start to run just like you show in this video. Let it sit for a few minutes and it would run maybe 10, 15 minutes and start poorly running all over again. I strapped a temporary tank on the arm rest for gravity feed and bypassed the fuel pump. It runs great. I had a new fuel pump, so I put that on but haven’t used it yet. I know it’s between the fuel tank and the carburetor. The fuel line on the exterior looks good. It’s not degraded or soft. Maybe that doesn’t mean anything. I’m going to replace the fuel line but I questioning the line that goes to what john Deere calls the Reservoir (EVAP Emissions) or the reservoir itself? I saw you replaced both the hoses. If the EVAP hose is plugged, will that be an issue? It takes more than an hour for any problem to happen. Lastly, can you give me the 2 hose sizes again please. Any thoughts?

    • @CopperBarnHomestead
      @CopperBarnHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    great video, my mower started surging yesterday. Does it immediately after I turn it on in idle. Seems to be better when I do full throttle and go quick. Though it did not have same issue where the bubble became larger in fuel filter I still did everything you did in this video. I replaced fuel lines like you have done and suction line, I replaced fuel filter and had already replaced air filter which did not seem dirty. I made sure air manifold was completely clean. I removed carburetor and cleaned it out though it seemed extremely clean. Still surges with no improvement.
    I checked fuel pump and it's working perfect, spark plugs are brand new and gapped correctly.
    This mower was working perfect, I was mowing a bumpy lawn then it started having the surging issues. Do you have any recommendation? I am not too familiar with this mower.

      @CopperBarnHomestead  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching and sorry you are having surging issues with your mower. I don’t know however possibly because it started over bumpy ground possibly it sounds like an electrical ignition problem instead of a fuel problem. I would check all electrical connections and especially the grounding. It’s just a shot in the dark but sounds like you have covered all fuel and air bases so electrical is all that’s left. The seat safety switches are notoriously prone to having bad connections in my experience. Good luck, be safe!

      @@CopperBarnHomestead Thanks for your help!! You got me on the right track! The symptoms where all the same, it was fuel starved. I got to thinking while I waited for a new carburetor that when I pulled the fuel filter there were actual grass clippings in the filter. I thought, good, the filter is working. But after a day or more I wondered if the pick up tube in the tank was clogged. So I unhooked the line at the filter and shot a puff or two of air back in the line toward the tank. I had the gas cap off, I could hear sputtering and saw splashing, so I knew the line was clear at that point. Hooked everything back up and she runs like a top! Did someone use it for a bit with the gas cap off? Did clippings get in the tank and eventually make their way to the pick up? My guess is yes.
