Husband and I just saw the original 1970s 'Assault on Precinct 13' a few nights ago. Loved it. Those who have seen it know that the group trapped inside is 'diverse'. I'd have been shocked, except that I grew up watching media from before 1980 and unlike so many talking heads in the public square thinking that racism was only acknowledged yesterday, I already know from experience that plenty of shows and films tackled social issues, including race relations, long before I was born.
So she’s going to call everyone gay in an interview, release a diss track and then claim victim? She has a terrible personality to be in show business.
Toxic behavior is toxic behavior. It’s ok to admit that we all can suck at something. It’s the childish refusal to accept personal responsibility for your own actions that is the issue I view here. Blaming your mistakes on someone else robs you of the opportunity to see how you can grow and do better. It is auto-deceptive and actually erodes one’s ability to understand and to become better by adaptive and positive change learned from success AND negative outcomes.
I can't stand these toxic actors going after fans of the property they're working on and ridiculing those fans if they end up not liking how their favorite property was handled. There should be something in the actors contracts about attacking fans or disparaging the film or TV series they're a part of. Notice how these actors never give examples, links or screenshots, of the racism or disparaging remarks that they tell the public happened, but of course the gullible will believe them without proof.
I think Disney assumes the 'talent' thinks like to they do politically (Gina Carano is an aberration), so everything Amandla (and certain others) has said and done has their tacit support. No-one needs to be gagged.
Yes, yes, yes, …yeeeesss. She does have her own opinion. We all do. My issue is the language. They all read from the same book. Hollywood continues the blame game & the message. It’s become an eye roller.
Something else, James Earl Jones is one of if not the most iconic voice actors of all time. The only reason he didn't fully play the character of Darth Vader was because it makes next to zero sense for a black actor to play the biological father of a white actor. He's a legendary actor and I'd have no problem with him playing a larger role in the movie but he knocked the voice acting out of the park and I don't think I'd trade that role because his voice is so iconic and it brought intensity to Darth Vader.
@@donaldb.9995 that's not true. Watch old test footage using the original voice of David Prowse and you'll immediately know why they dubbed him over with James Earl Jones. Had nothing to do with race at all.

Conservatives had far more to say about Barbie than The Acolyte, but Barbie was phenomenally successful because it appealed to its target demographic. The Acolyte didn't appeal to anyone because, putting the political messaging aside, it was a terribly written and a terribly acted series

I mean really, all the criticism is from the alt right racist?.?. give me a break.
Thanks for the video... When I contemplate why some of this echo chamber stuff happens, and why some people appear out of touch with the reality of what is happening or really going on, boils down to one thing... The notion that criticism must only be constructive and only be presented in a pleasant manner... That negative criticism, regardless of how it is presented, is pointless, unwanted, and can only be viewed as not politically correct thinking... With the most extreme being that only positivity and praise are welcome, and that being critical regarding feedback has no place in a modern society... Some people cannot handle their work being criticized, and will lump all negative criticism into the same bucket... Regardless if it is from truly toxic remarks on social media, or if it's from a fan off the street who just didn't like the work/show... Everyone gets lumped together even though it is far more complex... Is this just her coping mechanism, and/or just a rattling of the echo chamber she has surrounded herself with? Honestly, I believe she is young, highly privileged, probably spent too much time on social media growing up, may have lived in a Hollywood sheltered existence most of her life up to this point, and has not fully grasped the realities of the overall world quite yet, beyond her limited experiences and social bubbles... Will she have these same world and local views 20+ years from now? Just depends on her life experiences up to that point... Will she regret some of these close-minded things she keeps spouting into existence, later in her life? Perhaps, but only time will tell... For now, based on this video of hers, I believe she is playing the Hollywood game, in an attempt to keep favor for her future jobs... Which many before her have done...
Excuse-making is not a characteristic of successful people/organizations. Dismissing criticism as bigotry/hatred is much easier than coming to terms with humiliating failure. If her bruised ego needs soothing, she can comfort herself by realizing the failure of the show falls primarily on others' shoulders.
@@spidgeb3292 While mostly true, she is not helping herself or the system by continuing with her current train of thought and public opinions... No, wait. You put "The Acolyte" and "Star" in the same sentence? One of the reasons why it tanked so hard is because the "star" could barely even act. Thus, one of the main reasons why "The Acolyte" failed is because of the lack, of said "star".
The first criticism of The Acolyte was actually towards Leslye Headlund when the clip surfaced of her at a panel bashing white people, this on top of the Weinstein connection. I remember because SW fans were already calling The Acolyte “She-Hulk in Space” at that point

This is such a hollow person. I can see why the acting ended up where it did.
You can tell she is acting in this video because she made the exact same facial expression that she used for every single second of screen time. Another award worthy performance.
@@rvarnell9165 she’s not a good actress tho
When people chain their personal identity, thoughts, and feelings to a piece of entertainment then they are bound to feel like they are being personally attacked when some people don't enjoy said entertainment. It's not about you... it's about the show.
This is the perfect example of how ideological possession blinds you from the concrete world.
She has the right to her opinion. That doesn't extend to having the right to call people racist bigots. She takes zero responsibility and has a huge chip on her shoulder. Hope she doesn't get any other significant parts. There are more deserving people
The way she so casually calls people "alt-right" without having a fucking clue that she's basically calling people Nazis that would genocide millions of people without a care in the world shows how stupid, uneducated and out of touch she is.
James Earl Jones is black and his voice is as icon of Star Wars.
Seriously, since when we’re fans/nerds ‘conservative’? ..Plus she obviously chooses to ignore that women, ‘people of colour’, etc dislike this show as well.
After the past 10 years of wokeness injected into every level of entertainment, it would be in the “nerds” best interest to be Conservative?
Considering the whole premise of Star Wars is about fighting against an evil fascist Empire it's pretty weird calling it's fans "far-right", not that she probably has the faintest clue what that means.
"I just wanted to thank Lucasfilm..." for the big fat truckload of cash that they paid me for this trash.
Rick James wants his hair back.
Ha ha ha ha
Unityyyyyy
Are these people even real?......they always use a lot of words to ultimately say nothing other than further highlighting their own self-serving narcissism.
I don't remember Firefly blaming fans when their show got canceled.
It irritates me that she is doing her hair while talking about this. Comes off as detached, like she's above it.
Alan said what I was thinking. I've had shows canceled that I enjoyed and I didn't lose no sleep over it. This girl needs to get over herself.
The SyFy channel was famous for cancelling excellent shows without an ending.
Wow...she sounds so smart...
A feminist playing victim and refusing to accept accountability for her failures? I'm shocked, that NEVER happens
So she’s going to call everyone gay in an interview, release a diss track and then claim victim? She has a terrible personality to be in show business.
Why she keepz saying she is part of Star Wars, because she is not. She is part of woke Disney Star Wars... a totally different franchise 🙄👎
you miss the canon Star Wars, dont you.
She's not part of shit anymore, she's out on her ass.
Holding the purchaser accountable of a product is insanity. This reality make no sense.
You gotta wonder what kind of upbringing she had since her parents named her Amandla. Not Amanda, but AMANDLA.
She was born in LA. Her wacky parents must have thought it was witty.
Its a Zulu word meaning strength or power.
@SpongeBob38 Now it means unemployed.
They added an L to her name and now she is taking an L for that mess of a show.
Her middle name is PRETENTIOUS.
Airwolf has a more memorable theme tune. And tech porn, Airwolf start up sequence.
She's got the crazy eyes going on.
That ceiling fan has a broader range than this faux human
Look up her dad - who got her everything
Who she probably hates now, because of his skin colour and “privilege”?
Maybe I'm just too old (being in my early 30s) but I am absolutely creeped out by people grooming themselves while talking about their inane opinions.
Her: "I live in a bubble."
Her 30 seconds later: "Alt-right bigots cancelled my show!"
How hyper magnanimous of her to speak to the hyper plebs that support her and let them know how they could never understand the hyper pains of the hyper rich and hyper famous.
HYPER!
My reaction to Amanda Stenberg's video was like Tom Hanks cracking up after the bathtub breaks through the ceiling in The Money Pit.
So, she knows all the expensive trigger words, that's nice! Does she know what they mean thou?
Only thing is true on the entire video she made: She lives in her own bubble.
Even without saying a word comes across as arrogant, snarky, and I don’t give a f , by doing her hair whilst supposedly giving a sincere, heartfelt defence
Star wars had representation starting minutes into the first film. Darth Vader is James Earl Jones, even though he's not wearing the helmet.
She got where she is by sleeping with the producer, she has no leg to stand on.
I think her very rich daddy got her here not that
SO DID GINA CARANO
@@darthscipio5289Nah ...Gina got famous and successful for being a beautiful warrior with a good personality and charm. She was fired for not being a vapid woman like Amandla. Disney does not like real life strong women.
@@craxyman9025both are stupid and bad actresses
In her following video she will be trimming her toenails...
Disdain for the audience drips off her.
"I hate doing this but I'm going to do it." Because I'm a raging narcissist. 😂😂😂
That's what happens when you live in a bubble full of your own farts. Once you make contact with the outside world, even the fresh air might feel a little... toxic...
Since I didn't watch the show I have nothing to say about it.
Billy dee Williams wasn't the 1st black person in star wars... it was james earl jones back in 1977!
Just when you thought amandla couldn't split more fans after her attriocity of show as well as not giving you her full attention. She doesn't use social media but made a diss track... She is the problem with hollywood and the morons who love this show. The acolyte is passed fans attacking the actors since this has been their playbook. Don't hate us dutch people star wars 😂
That and PDF files.
lol "Is she accepting an Emmy right now??"
Play her off!
There can be only one reason a no name was given the lead in a series in an iconic franchise, tailored the role around her if we believe her, and it involves Leslie's face.
She is completely lost in her own head, with no recognition of other peoples reality.
If the supposed bigotry and acrimony of that "alt right" were that instrumental in getting The Acolyte canceled, then why was this group not successful in tanking the Barbie movie, which was one of the most profitable movies of 2023? Conservatives had far more to say about Barbie than The Acolyte, but Barbie was phenomenally successful because it appealed to its target demographic. The Acolyte didn't appeal to anyone because, putting the political messaging aside, it was a terribly written and a terribly acted series
The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Andor, and Rogue One were all good shows with non-white male leads (Pedro Pascal, Rosario Dawson, Diego Luna, Felicity Jones) and they received ZERO pushback for their identity. Star Wars fans aren't bigots, Amandla Stenberg is!
Hispanics are genetically WHITE. They are descendants of Spanish colonists. Most of them, if they got a DNA test would see they are roughly 70%+ white European, probably a fair bit Northern African from when the Moors invaded Spain, and a few drops of Native Indian blood. Most Natives in Central America died during Spanish colonisation, mostly due to disease.
That thumbnail 😂😂😂
This is what you get when your child is raised by nannies & the PR department.
She’s never been challenged, corrected, or undergone any hardship…& that’s the best case scenario here.
Worst case is that she’s a sociopathic ideologue & she knows exactly what she’s doing.
Exactly, spot on.
Hardship will always encounter the ignorant. It is just a matter of time.
Danish fan here.. I lost my interest in Disney Star Wars all the way back when I saw Force Awakens and the rest of the sequels. With the exceptions of Rogue One, Andor, Mandalorian season 1-2 and even Solo.. Star Wars has been terrible.. and become something I can not recognize anymore 😞
Stick to Legends. Scour the Internet finding every piece of old Star Wars media and put it all on your hard drive. You'll never have to invest another second on Disney's slop again.
When a movie is coming out and the people only want to talk about themselves or inject their world view I’m out. It has a 99% chance of being terrible. If the creator of a movie or show talks about the world and the story it has a chance
Best thumbnail for a TH-cam video ever. Sums all of it up perfectly 😂
Yoda’s voice: That is why you fail.
The Romans were right about having a low opinion of actors.
Even when talking to fans she is engrossed with herself in the mirror.
Regarding ‘no one corrects celebs on their bs’, ive noticed that when women are socialising theyll big each other up to their face but then talk shit behind their back.
Men, we talk shit to each other (ribbing, banter) then speak well behind their back… i think its a gender social habit issue.
Man, you are SO right. The toxic shit women say about their "friends" when they aren't around would blow your hair back. Guys are just not like that, if our friends are toxic, we call them out, talking shit behind someone's back is such cowardice.
Hollywood in the 70's and 80's said if you don't like progressive TV or movies then don't watch it. Turn it off. Now that people are turning it off, they are crying.
Negative critiques aren’t hate. She has a lot to learn… if she can.
At 25 years old, doubt it? She’s in for a reality check.
She is really making a fool of herself.
Yeah she talks about being in a bubble but if you don't do anything to try to look outside of that bubble that's your own fault. To me this just seems like somebody who can't take responsibility for their own limitations trying to pass blame on to everybody else that they disagree with instead of actually listening to the criticism and taking the responsibility that they made a bad show that was poorly written and kind of poorly acted out too. I mean really, all the criticism is from the alt right racist?.?. give me a break.
The thumbnail screenshot 💀🤣
She's better off dismissing rhetoric she doesn't agree with, and super toxic words being thrown around the internet... She should just go on with her life, be a bit more private, and continue her career, if that is what she is so concerned about... The wounds are too fresh on all sides, for her to be reopening them on a whim... Unless this is all just a publicity stunt to keep her name out there... Not like Hollywood doesn't do that all the time... :P
Remember when Stenberg was in Hunger Games and everyone assumed she was going to be hugely influential, despite the part being virtually a mime?
Then she hit her teens and took nothing but angry racialised parts?
I’m still not convinced she didn’t have a botched nose job.
Nowadays, her career seems to be essentially that of Marvel “writer” Tee Franklin, in that she seems to be getting cast on the knowledge she’ll call you racist if you don’t.
I wonder if she’ll get caught in the antlion pit that is genre casting after this…
No, I don't remember, she's an utterly forgettable person.
Two shows I liked got cancled.. Moonlight and Stargate Universe 😞 That sucked!
I actually talked to Everyone I know and people I come in contact with at work ( which probably doesn’t make me too popular) and no one ever heard of or watched the Acolyte.
No, wait.
You put "The Acolyte" and "Star" in the same sentence?
One of the reasons why it tanked so hard is because the "star" could barely even act.
Thus, one of the main reasons why "The Acolyte" failed is because of the lack, of said "star".
Remember when stars were liked? And people cared? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
The first criticism of The Acolyte was actually towards Leslye Headlund when the clip surfaced of her at a panel bashing white people, this on top of the Weinstein connection. I remember because SW fans were already calling The Acolyte “She-Hulk in Space” at that point
These types of people have a grab bag of catch phrases they pull out when things don't go their way.
Question: Why do identitarian women when doing their schtick, often break into a soft-spoken vocal fry? I first noticed this on NPR. It's far too common to be chance.
“They think their shit don’t stink”.
I couldn’t have put it better myself. Beautifully put, Alan! 😂

Chris, glad you're back! Hope you are doing well!!!
God that was painful 💔 😢 😫 😞 😪
I'll say it again "agendas" I don't see enough movie or entertainment critics saying this. Their other movie critics and entertainment critics who refuse to admit these writers and producers have their own agenda. And it's still being pushed.. 🤦🏻 call me whatever you want to call me and I'm a Star wars fan. I haven't been a fan since rogue one. Look at our society right now 🤦🏻
Smug. Every freeze frame is a snapshot of smugness and elitism. If right-wingers caused this to fail without lifting a finger, then I'll accept the blame. Where can I use my powers next?
Even Firefly got canceled. No one is above cancelation.
I just watched the reviews and LMAO'd off over the obviously crap storyline... I didn't watch because I honestly don't have D+ and have never even considered getting it because modern Disney is just producing absolute crap lately. Race/gender doesn't bother me at all in a *well written* story, but well written stories aren't what Disney is producing anymore.
Man, we've all been fans of franchises with diverse characters for decades. These people live in a reality manufactured in their minds where they think we are all enemies, which is just not true.
Disney SCAR WARTS
"Thanks for watching" sounds like the way you thank someone for donating to a cause.
NGL she is very beautiful, I think it's why she feels so entitled to success. She has been coasting on life through her beauty, so she can't understand why it's failing now.
Meh, compared to Sidney Sweeney she’s a 5.
She’s childish and immature
She's not unattractive, but she's no great beauty.
What happens when a culture doesn't award excellence, or educated failure, & gives out Participation prizes to everyone 'involved'.
It started with those 'talent' shows with people whom can't hold a note thinking they can sing, because all they've had is constant re-enforcement (validation) rather than constructive criticism & education as to reality.
