I don't think The Acolyte is great, it actually has many problems in my opinion. But do I hate it? Has it "ruined my childhood"? No, none of these things. Because I'm an adult and my childhood ended years ago, and I don't tie my emotional state to a fucking television show. When I dont like something I point out why and then I move on because hating on stuff is a waste of oxygen. I'd rather find things I enjoy and focus on enjoying those things. As they say in Star Wars "only the Sith deal in absolutes", and the toxic fandom don't seem to understand many of the teachings of Star Wars. They're like religious fundamentalists who pick and choose which of their messiah's teachings to follow because they're adjusting their faith to suit their opinions.

Not going to lie I'm not a fan of the originals at all and I know it's taboo to say if you're a fan but I always say it lol 😄. I've never been able to make it through the original trilogy. It's a snooze fest. Couldn't deal with the bad special effects and style of story telling back then. I only liked the prequals but then a lot of people liked hating on that too, always talking about Anakin and comments about sand 😄 So what is anyone supposed to like? Clearly people are free to like whatever they like. These are just opinions and these days it's mostly driven by bigotry anyways and not objective criticism

This has always been my biggest gripe about fandoms. I understand from an empathy perspective how much certain shows and movies mean to people, but the behavior I’ve seen in regard to The Acolyte is downright horrendous. I personally am not a Star Wars fan, but I agree with your statement about people who tie their emotional state to shows and movies.
Growing up, I was a HUGE Inuyasha fan and still am. When they came out with Yasha-Hime, I watched the first season but overall didn’t enjoy the spin off series. I dropped it and moved on with my life instead of going on a tirade about how they “ruined my childhood.” People claim they want shows/movies “with good writing” but spend every waking moment hating on people who try new ideas or directions because it’s not how “they want it to be.”

You're isolating random anecdotes and completely missing the point. The incidents you mention-criticism of the Ewoks, the Boba Fett cartoon, and even the initial reactions to the Darth Vader twist-are not reflective of the MASS popular sentiment of the primary fanbase. There is always going to be modest squabble amongst fans. These moments were mere blips compared to the widespread and sustained flat out REJECTION that Disney Star Wars has faced.
The hate towards the prequels, was nowhere near as profound or universal as the backlash against the sequels or the shows. The prequels, despite their flaws, had a coherent narrative that respected the core themes of Star Wars and have since found redemption and appreciation within the fanbase. The primary fanbase, which cherishes the original spirit of Star Wars, largely sees Disney's iterations as a departure from the saga’s foundational elements. This isn’t just about "toxicity"; it’s about a genuine and justified dissatisfaction with an artificial and corporate-driven agenda that feels disconnected from the authentic essence of Star Wars.
The original Star Wars trilogy and even the prequels, despite their controversies, tapped into universal human themes and archetypal storytelling that resonated deeply with audiences. Disney's Star Wars, particularly the sequels, and the shows prioritize a superficial adherence to contemporary ideological trends/laziness over the timeless narratives that made Star Wars a cultural cornerstone. The primary fanbase's rejection of Disney Star Wars isn't about resistance to progress; but a revolt against a distorted and INAUTHENTIC portrayal of a beloved universe, imposed by a bourgeois elite disconnected from the true spirit of what George created.

The best Disney Star Wars project I’ve seen so far has been Rouge One, Kenobi, Ahsoka, Visions, Andor and even The Last Jedi (I have a soft spot for it but mostly positive).
It makes me sad that a franchise I love so much as to be involved with a fandom that despite being very passionate it is full of so much toxicity, bigotry and hatred to the point where I almost feel ashamed to be a fan. @ThePeanut999 I am 100% with you on this. I am so sick and tired of all the hatred this franchise has had. People are allowed to like or dislike whatever they want. There’s nothing wrong with that. For example, while I thought The Rise of Skywalker was kind of messy, I still very much enjoyed it. That being said, I do understand the valid criticisms it gets. If people don’t like the film for those reasons, I understand completely. I’m not going to harass them with hate speech and racist or sexist language like some people do. That is completely unacceptable no matter what anyone says. It’s also a shame because we have a lot of younger generations that are getting introduced to these films and becoming fans. They should be able to enjoy this franchise and talk about it with others without worrying about being bullied or harassed. It’s just sad that the Star Wars community has become this way, even more so when you remember that the entire point of the saga was to rise up above hatred and anger to achieve peace.

The only one comment I’ve seen was talking about people complaining about Qimir being sexualized & that was a bad thing. I never hated anyone who performed in the Star Wars sequels, I just think those movies were objectively bad.
They have no end in problems, but the biggest problem I had was the character of Ray. In the very first movie, TFA, she uses the Force and wields a lightsaber like a true master, yet no one ever taught her how to do any of that. No one showed her how to feel the Force, no one trained her in Lightsaber combat. But apparently that wasn't important. She goes on to defeat Kylo Ren, a Force user who was trained by an actual master. Literally just whopped his ass by the end of the very first film.
That is the worst kind of story telling there can be. Setting aside the lack of a training arch for the hero character, it eliminates the threat. How can Kylo Ren and his "First Order" be such a threat if the protagonist is already better and more powerful then he is and has already soundly defeated him in combat? Nothing is at stake at that point.
Every single other character in Star Wars had an arch, they had to be trained. None of them started off as experts who just suddenly knows how to be a Jedi the very instant they touch a lightsaber. But Ray does. Why? Why is Ray the only Star Wars character who doesn't have a training/growth arch, yet is just as good if not better then any other Hero before her?
And it only went down hill from TFA. In the second film, Ray goes looking for Luke, but why? They don't need him. Ray is already the "hero," she can already beat the bad guy, so why does the story need Luke? Stupid.
And then in the third film, Ray still hasn't beaten the bad guy despite being more powerful then he is, but instead she gets _Trained_ by Leia... wtf.. Seriously, Ray already knows how to use the force and fight with a lightsaber, and can Already do it better then anyone else in history, so _Why Is She Being Trained? Why?!_
These films make no sense. They're just stupid. And I get so sick of all these Ray shills who shamelessly defend this character, where their best argument is to try and pretend that character archs don't matter/aren't important. Or when they just try to cope with these huge flaws by trying to accept a mystery explanation that was never established in any of the three films.

@coolnerdlll6053 Then how do you explain or justify that Ray is the only Star Wars character who use the force like a master but never got trained to use it. How do you explain that she wielded a lightsaber better than anyone before her despite no one ever teaching her how to use one. Even if she's descendant from a prominent Force user like palpatine, someone would still have to teach her all of those skills and techniques, but no one ever did. That's why she sucks. That's why the sequel Trilogy sucks.

I just hate it because the writing is bad and I mean the first two episodes were good episode five and six were pretty good but three and four were just badly written and made me hate the main characters more than before. Like I just wish that Dave Filoni could be in charge instead of Kathleen Kennedy because he’s at least trying to keep the franchise alive or Kathleen Kennedy is hiring anyone off the street to make a show. Filoni at least worked with George Lucas and had an idea of his vision.

YES! THANK YOU! You are absolutely right! So many of these TH-cam critics didn't even give The Acolyte a chance and were hating on it way before it even released. They criticize stuff that never mattered in the past (fire in space) because they see it as just another reason to hate on the show when there's already plenty of valid problems to criticize. It's ironic because they're all fighting against an agenda in modern pop culture, and in the process they managed to start their own agenda that's hurting it as well.

Thank you for this review. I was enjoying the Acolyte and was curious about where all of the negative criticisms were coming from. It seemed like unfounded vitriol. When I think about the Original Trilogy, there are tons of plot holes that could be construed as bad writing.
Qirim was shirtless but Leia was in a bikini, kept in chains, and being licked at by the nasty worm alien Jabba with his phallic tongue. Nobody batted an eye.
Siblings were kissing in the recovery suite while being watched by other people and a robot. Weird.
At the Sarlacc pit, Han and Chewie were in binds but a lethal Jedi (who had just shown he was capable retrieving weapons from distances out of arm's reach) was not? Plot hole much?
The light saber battles in Acolyte seemed much more like actual sword combat than the flashy and self-indulgent swordplay of the prequels.
Did any of that matter? No. I bought the digital versions of all 9 and the DVDs of the first 6. Rogue One and Solo are two of my favorite SW films so I got those on digital too. I continue to enjoy the Star Wars Franchise, even the Disney Plus shows that struggled. They all still had something to offer. Interesting character development, zany mythology, exotic locales, creative alien designs, cool ships, sympathetic robots with different personalities, and neat new armor designs.

I agree with your assesment partially. Namely, there are (without a doubt) a lot of bad actors and grifters out there who crap on anything Disney makes for cheap political points - and to them this is just a points scoring game. Nerdrotic and Critical Drinker both are a fine example of this.
However, lets not pretend how Disney and their defenders are not using the political debate surrounding Star Wars as a shield to deflect valid criticism. I cant remember how many times I have been banned from various fan forums and sites for pointing out genuine problems under the false pretense that I am a misogynist.
So, as far as I am concerned, both sides are extremely toxic. I still love OG Star Wars, but I think Disney has no clue what they are doing. And the problem is not DEI or social justice or anything like that. The problem is just extremely poor writing.

@@mania4270 Yes, you are right. Ppl on on the right doing this good old KGB's "attack, accuse, project, gaslight, deny" tactic on everyone. They are angry and aggressive in their totalitarity of accusations because they are at war. At least they are profiting on provoking civil war. For whom? That is a good question where answers are on the surface. Their videos are literal propaganda in which they're accusing these movies\TV shows etc. in starting this exact civil war, propaganda, etc. Gosh, they visited Piers Morgan and that is so telling, and they're not even hiding these connections. They're Shapiro-Carlson-Brand-Peterson "free thinker" type opportunists. A "phony looser" type, who found a golden mine. But let's be honest to ourselves. They don't have to search hard to point out some real lame cringe statements and actions by celebrities to throw "the woke agenda" rocks in everyone's faces! Brie Larson, Rachel Zegler, Tatiana Maslany, Ewan Mcgregor in his Birds of Prey "misogyny" tour, etc. They are, mostly, good, compassionate , rich and out of touch people, spoiled by fame. Their confidence of having good communication skills for extreme politics is failing them. But many of them actually do have skills. Robert De Niro, Mark Hamill, etc are great examples. But some don't and there is the problem. And there are more radical and demanding and literary aggressive Amandla Stenberg, Elizabeth Banks, Mindy Kaling, Jessica Gao with "trolling trolls", etc. who, with their awful uncreative writing and productions are just a low hanging fruit, a gift, for them. They just have to dial this to 11. Boom! Profit. Scandals are popular not common senses. Even some random people, with their "white people don't go see "Black Panther" do not help. They all do not help for developing of soft promoted real natural fair diversity. How are they different from Drinker/Nerdrotic&Co then? How does Kathleen Kennedy, Leslye Headland, Oprah Winfrey, Ellen, Cook, Iger are different from Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Bezos, Zuck, etc? They have one similarity for shure - lust for money, fame and power. They don't care about ordinary people. They use people's problems to make a profit. So it's all really politicized from both sides but this, far right one, is more skilled with manipulations sponsored by rich billionaires and politicians. The other one are just rich loud phony and daring demanders who are not the help for all ordinary people's needs in fair rights and diversity. You and I (all of us basically) are not at these sides but we are affected by them and have our own strong opinions on the issue. We all have one thing in common - it's the +/- clear understanding of the situation which we can discuss and have some consensus. But those who are affected - don't have it, lost it. It feels like we all are locked between extreme left and right agendas and someone did a fantastic job to put literally everyone of us in this position. Acolite is another good idea with a great cast, wasted by foolish, egoistic and absolutely unnecessary radicalisation by producers and some actors. Another gift for fascist propaganda to divide us! "Divide and conquer".. The awful writing is the main problem. Because they can't say sh*t on some outstanding diverse well promoted products! Sorry for this long read. The winning formula is simple: Make good content, and Star Wars fans will like it. Rogue One, Andor, the first two seasons of Mando. Acclaimed by critics and fans alike. There is FAR more toxicity within Disney at this pojnt, than within the fandom. Disney seem intent on using all of their big properties, Star Wars, Marvel, Doctor Who, as tools and platforms for shoving political messaging down our throats. They are giving that priority over writing good stories, casting good actors, hiring good directors. The agenda is taking precedence over making a good product, and consequently the products are bad. Get the DEI and the politics out of the content, get back to focusing on entertaining us. Good writing, good acting, good directing. Hiring people who are actually qualified and competent, rather than ticking boxes. Quit trying to straw man the fandom, Disney IS the problem. There are very valid reasons why the fans liked Rogue One, Andor, early Mando, and don't like these later offerings. Same thing with Marvel and Doctor Who. One of these things is not like the other. This is not rocket science, it really shouldn't be that hard to see the difference. If you really think the audience is walking away from Star Wars because they are a bunch of -ists and -phobes, then you are deluded and not paying attention.

I'm Black from UK, plz go check out the D.A. there's actually loads of Positive starwars fans, EBN, Thor Skywalker, SWT, Starwars Meg, they criticize when the quality is bad they'll just call out if they don't like it, they are honest and just explain and share their opinions on when Disney Starwars is not good. Just look at the first two seasons of the Mandalorian; no hate there. I never saw any Racism levied toward Giancarlo Espositio who played Moff Gideon, or Carl Weathers (RIP) who played Greef Kaga in that show.
All I'm saying is don't focus just on the racist channels that spew hate, and let that dictate and build up a picture overall in your mind of the TH-camr Starwars fandom. Because that's the "narrative" the media want to push.
I'm black and I don't like the Sequels; I liked Finn and he was pure wasted potential in those movies. I will say whatever Racist comments were thrown at Actress Moses Ingram who played Reva in the Kenobi series. That is un called for, but I really don't believe she received a huge volume of racist comments, because no one, not Disney/Lucasfilm have even provided screenshots.
Even if it was just one or two racist comments, it's absolutely not called for; BUT I do believe what Disney did there was use that to Paint our Fandom as a mostly, "Toxic, Problematic" Fanbase and that's simply NOT TRUE!! I have not saw any racism in the fandom. The only racist channel i've saw has been "Ryan Kinel" because of when he mocked George Floyd in that video. He is vile and simply a sheer hater anyway that doesn't give anything a chance and only hates it all.
Regards Disney and the Reva character specifically. All they had to do was actually greenlight a miniseries for Ingram, ALL about her Reva character, growing up indoctrinated into being a "Inquisitor". If such a show were made, AND had really good writing, showing the character of Reva being take in those flashback scenes as a child by Anakin/Vader, and she's one of the few in the whole Galaxy that knows Anakin is Vader; and she strives to learn all she can from Vader, going out with him on missions during the great Jedi Purge. Planning for the future, for one day where she can be skillful and powerful enough to defeat Vader. I believe such a series would have showed us a very sympathetic character and FANS would have all loved it. I genuinely believe that.
BUT because Fans were promised this "Battle of the Century" from Kennedy, between the two MAIN CHARACTERS of Anakin/Vader and Obi-Wan. And Kennedy really kind of pulled a sly bait and switch, deliberately bringing in secondary, sub characters that really did NOT belong there, taking up time and scenes that SHOULD have been absolutely dedicated to Kenobi and Vader (when it's actually his show!). That's why Fans got so annoyed, and didn't like the character of Reva being in what was promised and meant to be "Kenobi's story". And what Disney did was manipulatively twist what the Fans didn't about the Kenobi show, to be something about Racism toward Reva when it was not.

Thing is this, we could have still gotten REY dressed how she is in ep9, but with a better story Faithfully Adapted from George Lucas *treatments*; and that young girl would have been dressed up Exactly the Same and still loved THAT PARTICULAR STARWARS MOVIE. This is why I simply don't understand what is WRONG with adapting these old starwars stories, from the EU? Or just using Lucas treatments?? Could you or someone explain this to me. WHY won't Disney go near them? Is it because they actually believe those old stories are all Patriarchal or something!? IF Disney are purely about telling their OWN stories that are steeped in "modern day sensibilities", then all i'm seeing here is hardly any "Heroism" something that's been a absolute staple of George Lucas *Star Wars*, and instead i'm seeing just mainly Nihilism out of "Disney Starwars."
And sorry but I disagree with you about "fans come and go". FANS truly passionate Fans stay with a franchise for like ALL THIER LIFE. The "fans" that come and go are really casuals, who eventually move onto something else, especially if a specific Franchise starts to fall in it's overall quality and is not as popular as it once was. Also look at REYLOS can we even say they were ever "Fans" at all? Not gatekeeping here, just saying, they only seemed interested in the sequels purely for this "ship" they became obsessed with in Rey and Kylo, and when they didn't get that, they fizzled away.
Most actual "Star Wars Fans" you speak to will let you know they're still here. Even the ones who say now that "Star Wars is DEAD". They get met with replies from that other side, of people saying - "If it's DEAD, then WHY you still hanging around here?" Do you get it!? Those people have just proved the point that even though they're deeply NOT happy with the state *Star Wars* is in right now under Disney; they are indeed, very much STILL AROUND.
The starwars Fans are NOT going anywhere. WE will be here long after even Kennedy has gone.

Meanwhile, normal human beings were enjoying the show when a bunch of losers without better lives threw a fit and used cancel culture to get the show cancelled. Facts.
Of course you would blame it on the writing because you can’t see that what makes a show good is subjective. People have different viewpoints.

The Acolyte failed because it was objectively bad, and it didn't have any keys to jingle in front of the audience like Ahsoka or Obi-wan did. High Republic era, force witches, murder mystery, mystery sith, well done fights, I truly don't know what you people exiect. When you get shows like Ahsoka and ObiWan you want originality, when you get Acolyte and Andor you want more familiar key jingling. You would hate Ahsoka getting "forced on the fans" in The Clone Wars if you this bitter back then.

    • @DrachonaTheWolf
      @DrachonaTheWolf 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@HotDogTimeMachine385 Okay, let's go point by point:
      1) The High Republic is a very new invention that few people even know about, and others don't care about. This is irrelevant.
      2) This isn't a new concept, and they're barely in the show. Also, they all die anyway.
      3) What mystery? There's zero mystery. Even the trailer spoiled the twist, and the killer does a complete 180 on motivation not even half-way through the show, for absolutely no reason.
      4) Again, what mystery? The show basically screams at you who her master is in Episode 4, even though it makes no sense that he got out of a trap, got ahead of her, killed Kelnacca, and then left before she even got there. Also, they make it clear who his master is, even though there are only ever supposed to be two Sith.
      5) Ah yes, the false dichotomy argument. In the infinite realm of creativity, we aren't stuck with only two possible narrative options. Either direction would be fine if the writing were good. Speaking as both a filmmaker and published author, I can prove - objectively - that the writing in The Acolyte is terrible. It's not just stupid things like the space fire or a small fire somehow destroying an entire mountain fortress. It's things like the characters intentionally not reading the mind of the main villain because it would show who he is, or the two padawans looking away just long enough for him and Mae to escape, or Mae's constantly changing motivation, or the show trying to convince us that the Jedi are in the wrong during the flashback episodes when they are clearly justified, or Sol conveniently leaving out every valuable detail about how their mother died so Osha will want to kill him. I could go on.
This show is a well-polished mess; an embarrassment to writing and story-telling. If you liked it, that's fine, but it is objectively bad. It didn't need to be. The same premise with the same actors could have worked, but they didn't care. The creator openly admitted several times that she hadn't thought through a lot of the details for the plot and characters.
If you respond without addressing all of these points, you are admitting that you are wrong and should be disregarded.

The word “toxic fandom” is never used appropriately. You just don’t like that someone else doesn’t like something. Look, I'm absolutely not saying people have to like this show. I don't love it either (it's a mixed bag so far). But the backlash against it is both depressing and not at all surprising. Combing each episode back to front deliberately looking for reasons to hate it destroys the very nature of art. I've also had it with the followers - they're not fans - taking it personally against the cast and crew for making something they didn't like. That's just a violation of human nature. And the review bombing isn't just wrong, it's kind of dangerous. Studios use audience input, and giving them false input is not going to make things better.
I know this comment is going to get swarmed by cyberbullies, and honestly, I no longer care. We've reached a point where I'm no longer comfortable sharing my thoughts on a part of my favorite franchise, and that's the most destructive thing of all.

(Retconning without explaining it or completely one lining it off, pacing, teasing Darth Plagueis and Darth Tenebrous despite it's a show about Sith Acolytes, shifting plots without any build ups, this notion of never showing any dark side users with dark side eyes besides The Inquisitors, Darth Vader and Darth Sidious without explaining why they're not corrupted by the dark side and treating the dark side as only the Sith understand it despite evidence this has never been true before and after Disney bought the Star Wars franchise)
Reva my criticism was it felt like Disney intentionally kept her alive to troll the loud minority and I mentioned this earlier, she never had dark side eyes which would of been pretty cool too see , and they definitely added more plot to her character due to it , that's legit criticism, not because she's a "black diversity hire"

Take Furiosa for example. I know there were people who just weren’t interested in the movie and that’s understandable, but there were so many people that refused to watch it because they accused it of being “Woke”. More often then not this toxic behavior spreads the wrong information and rhetoric to people who are blind enough to listen and follow these people. There are plenty of SW fans who could be said to be irrationally passionate about this universe. It's almost a religion for them, whereas whatever gigantic work it is, Star Wars remains a fiction.
I tend to be a little harsh myself about the latest series and movies. My biggest problem is about Disney's way to handle things.
Not planning the entire sequel trilogy from the start was an absurd mistake.
Watching 6-8 episodes long series that have so little to tell that the content could reasonably fit into a 90-120 minutes movie is really frustrating.
But more than anything, seeing narrative choices that I later learned were made with the aim of sparking controversy among fans. What the hell is this?
It's ok if a creator doesn't try to please everyone, but WHY produce content with the PURPOSE that some people won't like it? (I'm talking in particular about Rian Johnson for The Last Jedi and Leslye Headland with The Acolyte).
Now, about The Empire Strikes Back... originally, it was my least favorite movie from the original trilogy. I didn't like it to be so much darker, i didn't like to see the invincible heroes from the first movie go through so many harsh events etc... I wanted the nice guys to always win, basically.
I ended up recognizing that it was an exceptional film, which had managed to take the perfect opposite approach to its predecessor to do even better. In some ways, my appreciation of The Last Jedi changed in a similar way, even if the trilogy still suffers from a lack of harmony.
I still love Star Wars, and i'm not one of those who say things like "it broke my childhood", about the latest content. I want Disney to make more consistent decisions and stop using this franchise for the sole purpose of making money from it.

My problem with the Acolyte is something Disney + has been doing for a while. Most of their Star Wars and Marvel shows have a pacing issue. They feel like one long movie that is cut up into episodes. I prefer each episode not to just connect to the next episode, but to have an identity of its own.
I'm chill with cliffhangers, but they need a really good build-up to make them work. People say that the ending scene where Sol has Mae bound to the table is a cliffhanger. I disagree, because he ends it by saying the same thing he's told Osha many times. I will tell you everything, and that still hasn't happened.
A real cliffhanger would be if he hadn't said anything about wanting to share everything until that point in the show with Mae and just ending the episode.

The hate for Disney Star Wars is valid, just not for petty anti woke reasons. It’s directionless, soulless, and corporate. The idea that Disney actually cares about the culture war is ridiculous. They want your money but just don’t know how to make good business decisions.

@@classicnerd5875 opinions man, I respect yours. Tho I personally like both, Legends and Canon. I constantly go back to the Legends stuff, but also like Canon for the most part. It is hit and miss, one show is better, other is worse, but in my opinion they learned on their mistakes from the trilogy. And I like the fact that Star Wars is now alive for the wide audience, not only for those who read the books and comics.
When it comes to Acolyte itself, it was hated before people had a chance to see it. So at least some opinions are heavily biased because of political war that both sides (Disney and the audience) wage for quite some time. Tho I agree that they care about money, as they should, not about culture war, but their decisions to promote the show with ideological comments is one of the reasons why people don't even try to watch it. Honestly I expected it to be shit when I seen the trailer (looked cheap and not like SW at all)... but was quickly into it after watching, and now I simply like it and I think Ep. 5 and 6 were amazing and outstanding. 7 tho was a letdown.
I hope they will make something you will like too someday. And if not, well. Legends are so wide that I'm sure you can keep yourself occupied with it forever.

@@azk9218 My taste on canon as a whole is sour because most of what’s coming out is mediocre at best. imo of course. But I did like Clone Wars season 7, Mando 1-2, and Rouge One okay. Visions is amazing but wasn’t canon. I’m not gonna lie, there are bad legends books and games, but the overall handling of lore and character progression was treated better in that timeline. And Ahsoka’s series being the biggest “meh” (my favorite character in canon) was what did it for me.

With these people it's always either it's terrible or it's great. Sometimes, something is just ok. That is how I feel about The Acolyte. I feel the twins don't have much charisma but there are characters like Sol and Qimir I find compelling. I like the concept that we are exploring the transition between the height of the Republic and their malaise we see in the prequels but I don't feel it's executed the best. I do hope that this is like, say, Disenchantment where the first season is a slow burn and it really kicks off at the second season.
Also while I think the Ki Adi Mundi criticism is more nitpicky than anything I do feel they could've solved it with another Jedi we knew previously was alive at the time. I think having Yarael Poof show up and do stuff would be nice since I like the personality he has in written/comic form and he's dead by Episode 2 so his animated/live-action appearances are limited

This situation is also just infected with culture warriors who infect any fandom that prominently features non-white leads.
Look at someone like Ben Shapiro. Any time he does a media criticism you can easily tell it's not something he's into or something he's actually a fan of, it's just an opportunity to express his politics. That's what's going on a lot of the times when these guys do that and there's a hate campaign. The large majority of them are either casual fans or non-fans who hate anything that is not a 100% white cast. A few committed fans can exhibit these toxic behaviors as well, but most of the people doing this are rarely the true core fans who know every bit of trivia or side story. But the bigots tend to portray themselves that way. Just to give themselves more credibility when they attack the medium for being "woke"

Plus, given the fact that Plagueis and Palpatine were at that very moment teabagging the entire Jedi Order with the shroud of the Dark Side, he was proven to be *objectively incorrect.* Take anything that fellow said with a Correllian freighter haul worth of salt.

Star Wars was a blockbuster film franchise, with the vast majority of its audience being casual mainstream moviegoers. Diehard fans did not account for the Force Awakens massive 2.1$ billion haul, it was a cultural event with widespread appeal. With each successive film in the sequel trilogy the franchise alienated more of these viewers, while failing to attract the “new” audience Kathleen Kennedy so desperately aimed for. Besides the Mandalorian’s early success, you have seen interest in the television shows evaporate as well. Money talks. You do not blame the consumer for rejecting a film/series, and you certainly do not double down on an unpopular direction with subsequent releases. Disney Star Wars alienated its core audience while also failing to attract a younger more diverse demographic. In fact the only people left watching these garbage shows are older white millennials, mostly males - the same fans you slander as bigots. As for the mainstream audience, who could care less about meaningless online arguments between the “fandom”, they are lonnnng gone.
