Fantastic actress, have been a big fan for a long time. Finally someone I would actually like to see win an Oscar.
Y’all couldn’t put Michelle’s name in the title, like damn!! Give the woman her respect
I thought it was just me who thought this. It seems disrespectful to me to not put her name on the title but Jackie Chan's name is in there. SMH
@@Sundae_Times Oh, so her name is Oscar nominee? Such an unusual name!
@@Sundae_Times I don't know what country you're watching from but from where I am, the title is "Oscar nominee says her role was first offered to Jackie Chan." Nowhere in the title says Michelle Yeoh. It's in the video description, not the title. Clearly, I'm not the only one who saw this because I only responded to another person's comment.
Are you okay? I hope attacking my comment gave you a little bit of satisfaction in your life. Good day!
Great interview and sharing. Thanks and bless..
Michelle Yeoh is one of the greatest actresses. All her films, she shines. My favorite is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I hope she wins the Oscar.
Will be a big upset if Michelle does not win the Oscar this year. Michelle is getting a lot of attention right now. Well deserved.
In the unjust scenario that Michelle doesn't win, I hope the Academy gets a billion ton of blowback + then some.
"Oscar nominee"? It's Michelle Yeoh, you could at least put her name in the headline lol.
True
One of my favorite under appreciated Michelle Yeoh movies is Reign of Assassins. It didn't win any awards but its a good watch.
Has cnn covered the 9yr old girl racially beaten on school bus
_Reign of Assassins_ won two Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards for Best Director and Films of Merit.
She is cool and down to earth.
Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh once were the highest paid actor and actress in Hongkong🥰🥰🥰 Missed those old kungfu movies in HK...
She is a complete goddess. I pray she gets that Oscar she deserves and finally gets the praise she so deserves.
Performance of a lifetime.
Michelle Yeoh is the epitome of grace, elegance and humility.
I met Jackie Chen in Taipei 😆
He said "Welcome to Taipei !"
but wait I was the one born in Taipei ! 🤣🤣
I think it was "TIME" pick Michelle Yeoh!❤
Time for a change in Hollywood and the world.
Michelle resonates with the story so much as a woman (The director the Daniels change their minds to have main role is a everyday woman )
And she didn't want to use her own name in the movie but "Evelyn Wang" that keeps the role alive !
Stephanie Hsu was also chosen after Awquafina schedule conflict. The cast work out so great for this amazing movie !! It moves many people's hearts! They really did it !! 💕💕💕
Shes so smart and full of substance,
👑👑👑
Definitely... Michelle should take the Oscars.
I can relate to this movie on so many levels, from all the characters POV. I'm just jealous this movie didn't have a Latino twist to it too. Because it also breaks into the 1st generation immigrant experience. LGBT+ newality.
Oh boy. Everyone's at the table. Even Uncle Sam on small businesses.
stephanie hsu's character's girlfriend is half mexican! she says it when she and yeohs character are talking about introducing her gf to her grandpa
Incredible interview 🎉Michelle deserved Oscar 🎉
I saw the movie and Michelle is BRILLIANT!!!
Always liked her. She’s still hot too. Good for her
Hope she gets the oscars. Cate is equally wonderfil in Tar.
although i found Blanchett's performance was really more demanding in an esoterik way, and way more challenging for the entire notion of a cinema thatsuffers from an overexplosion of action and lack of philosophy, i do hope they both tie for the win! Yeoh is wonderful!
Very articulative and insightful session by Michelle Yeoh! Wish you all the best in winning the Oscar!! ❤🎉
She always is; one of the many reasons we love her !!!
The buttplug fight scene was one of the funniest things I have seen.
Never thought I would write that sentence.
6:43 i got confused, i thought she meant she had an estranged daughter
but i think she was just continuing her previous statement that people would come up to her and say that
She could be referring to her former step daughter Dee Poon Chu-ying (Chinese: 潘楚穎).who is the child of her former husband, Dickson Poon, and his first wife, Marjorie Yang
I'm pretty sure she said, "No... in real life." The look on Ms. Amanpour's face was shock, like she had no idea.
Love this woman ❤
Finally, she did it! Congratulations Michele. Greetings from Indonesia.
I love Michelle Yeoh. She's an amazing actor🥰. Great interview by the interviewer 👍😊. Thank you💕
Wait really ?!! I thought she was BORN to play that role. She deserves to win.
This film is so accurate about immigrant families in the US
Fun fact: Chan was paid 20 times as much as Steve Coogan for 'Around the World in 80 Days' (even though Coogan was the star and Chan was only in a supporting role)!
Who is Steve Coogan
@@sara.cbc92 Troll harder, mate 🙄
@@sara.cbc92 Coogan is an extremely famous actor, comedian, producer and screenwriter who's starred in 60+ movies and 60+ TV shows and won two Oscars, six BAFTA TV awards, four BAFTA movie awards and a Golden Globe. You're welcome.
@@sara.cbc92 I looked him up, I realized I know him from The Other Guys from a bribery scene. I probably saw him in Night at the Museum and Tropic thunder but don't remember any scenes he was in. Seems like most of his work is in British film/television. He's probably much more famous in the UK. He's not really a household name in the US. Im pretty sure if I mentioned his name to any of my friends none would recognize it.
Very Wrong.
Jackie had first billing, not Steve.
Jackie did many of the stunts, he had a stunt double on others.
Well deserved. Michelle Yeoh has more than paid her dues.
I didn't know how good the film was until watching it. So good until tears came relating to some scenes. Actors did so good job
She’s so beautiful
Gorgeous and stunning just like I saw her in Supercop.
Michelle Yeoh has acting royalty for many years. I'm so happy she is finally getting the recognition she so richly deserves.
I'm a huge Oscar Nominee fan. Hope she wins the Michelle Yeoh this year!
Michelle yeoh is tooo good. Can't stop her
If Jackie was the lead, this would not have had the same impact if they didn't flip the script. A male lead is something we've seen too many times even in a wacky script like this. I've been a fan of Michelle's for years. So great to see the recognition she's receiving after all these years in the industry.
This is a strong and amazing woman!
Wow! It's incredible and wonderful that this movie helped her relationship with her daughter! ❤
Yeoh has no children. She was quoting someone she met who is a mother.
thank God it didnt go to Jackie, we wouldnt have had Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh together in the big screen
I wouldn't watch this movie if Jackie Chan was the actor of this movie!!! He has never seen and talked to his illegitimate daughter in person and how did he act this role to tell the power of love story to the world???? Michelle handled this role so GREAT!!! LOVE THIS VERSION OF MOVIE!!!🤩
I love her!!! She's beautiful and classy.
The best thing is that she is back with her daughter and trying to build a relationship again 💕
I believe she was speaking about an older woman who came up to her after seeing the movie. That woman did not understand the meaning of the movie, but her daughter had seen it and reached out to reconnect with her after being estranged from her. It was somewhat lost in the interview.
I love her, she is amazing 😍
So happy for her achievements! Well deserved!!! Congratulations 👏 🥳 ❤
To Michelle - there is a Chinese saying : 勝者為王.
( Winner takes the throne or winner takes it all )
To: Jackie Chan - there is a Chinese saying : 吃不到的葡萄是酸的.
( Sour grapes)
Wishing Michelle 再下一城 with the Oscar golden statue in hand.
A very intelligent woman! With a very splendid vocabulary!
Even that short clip of the movie at the beginning made me definitely have to watch this!
She looks great..🥰
Has cnn covered the 9yr old wht girl racially beaten on school bus
I love this actress! The first role I saw her in was as Captain of a starship on Star Trek Discovery. She was perfect and made women in a leadership role look great.
I love her and her acting is top notch
Jackie Chan would have ruined the movie like he does everything.
And she won.. Oscar's Best Actress in 2023
I totally understand this move, I was cried out many times when I watch it
If she doesn't win Best Actress I will understand why. I won't agree with it, but I will understand how broken Hollywood is and how terrible the members of the Academy actually are. My suspicion is that Cate Blanchett will win because she's the kind of actor that the Academy loves in the kind of roll that traditionally wins. But my money says Cate herself voted for Michelle Yeoh.
Wonderfully a frank and politically correct response and speech. Michelle, you nail it !!!! Worthy of an OSCAR.
Love Michelle Yeoh. Hope she wins.
This movie was nothing anyone would ever expected it to be. It is a lot like life. Like life, don't judge it base on what you see, keep open mind, and just laugh
