Very interesting! I am glad that many foreigners choose to move to Romania, whether they have romanian partners or not, I have seen that more recently many people from Western Europe and even from the USA are looking to live in safer countries, with the cost of living which is not crazy and many things to see and to do, so they discovered our country which was not very promoted to be honest until recently. I saw that there are also people from Latin America or Africa, but many from SE Asia, many of them came here to earn more money than at home and after a while to go further to Western Europe where they will have bigger incomes, but there are also many looking for the security, the kindness of the people, the beautiful places to see, etc. So many of them just choose to stay here and even bring their families here. I'm happy to hear you managed to adapt and built a home far away from home here. As far as language is concerned, you don't need to feel pressured about it, I can assure you nobody is bothered if you speak English or Spanish. On the contrary, it's exotic and we are quite fascinated about that. As long as you can interact with people at work and those close to you on a daily basis, there's no rush. And lastly thank you for the kind words about our country, not all foreigners are as ... diplomatic XD
Welcome! An ideea for a future video. It would be nice to make a video on how did you and your husband got out of Cuba? (I know people can't leave Cuba) And why did you chose Romania out of all the countries? What do you and your husband do for a living in Romania. Enjoy Romania! :)
The funny thing about language is that it's probably easier for us to learn Spanish than it is for a Spanish speaker to learn Romanian. Bit of a weird interaction, but I've heard that from multiple sources and can confirm a bit using personal experience - we tend to understand Italian and Spanish even without taking any classes, provided it's spoken clearly and not too fast, and without complicated or unusual words. The reverse isn't true because every 5th or 6th word in Romanian does not have a Latin root but a Slavic one (or to a much smaller degree Germanic or Turkish). Either way, at least you didn't catch the times of the 19th century when Romanian was written using the Cyrillic alphabet. 😂 On the hospitality thing, it's apparently not necessarily something we have because of our Latinity, but rather a shared Balkan trait, because our south Slavic neighbors as well as the Albanians and Greeks also have the same traditions - all these people take great pride in being hospitable. I think Latin America too has something similar, even though it's not because of the same cultural roots. Still, super cool. Very cool vlog, very good vibes, keep up the good work! 👍
Thank you so much!! And yes I totally agree with you, it is way easier to learn and to understand Spanish or Italian for Romanian speaker than what it is to learn Romanian for us!! But yes, I am really eager to learn it and to learn a lot about your culture, which I find fascinating ❤️
Actually ro and all the Balkan countries are having the same roots and the same culture, the Thracians/Getic/Dacian culture having more than 5000 years old history.

Glad you like it! Romania changed a lot lately. But we still tend to be grumpier, 45 yrs of soviet influence can leave a lot of scars.
I’m English and I to love Romania would like to live there. I’m partially retired so thinking about what I need to do to be able to move to Romania. Perhaps you could do a video about the process of being a resident. Thank you for a great video.
It would be nice but my story getting a residency here it’s very different than the usual for many reasons. I will make q video soon talking about it. Thank you so much for the support, it means a lot to me❤️
@@FoxxNoah This would be great because for some people is harder than for others. This will allow my fellow Romanians to see how fortunate we are that we were born here and most are complaining about how bad it is. As for an usual popular saying "you're too close to the trees to see the forrest"
You can come here and live up to 6 months, then discuss things to an immigration attorney. The procedure is quite easy because you need to provide proof of accommodation, if you can prove some income would be an extra point, and then apply for residency. This process was done by my business partner and he got 5 years residency. He is also English.
About our safety on what u said is a yesnt bc it really depends jn what neighborhood u live in for example if u live in ferentari u should know how to fight and be prepared to get robbed but other areas a pretty safe
Oh yeah I heard about that neighborhood the other day, but I have never been close to it. But here’s the thing, I believe one always has to be careful and don’t get in into dangerous areas… :)
I work as Uber driver...in 7 years , in the middle of the night I had hundreeds of trips to or from Ferentari ... I have never felt insecure or any danger...Maybe before it was more risky but nowadays don't think so...Anyway, ugly things can happen anytime anywhere but Ferentari remains just a legend...For sure Romania and Bucharest is far way more safe than London, Paris , Bruxelles.
Like a romanian i'm happy you chose to move in Romania . In last years lot of travel vlogers , tourist or foreigners employee spread lot of good things about Romania and some decide to move in Romania . In Romania lot of foreigners will discover hospitality , amazing landscapes , cuisine ( traditional food and drinks ) , history , traditions , 4 seasons . Like every country have good things and bad things but always don't fallow the stereotypes . In Romania ca be improve little bit infrastructure ( roads , train system ) , less birocracy , jobs oportunities ,Romania to be promoted more tourism , promote more romanian bussines like romanian farmers and many more things .
Well I’m not a travel agency 😅😂 and it very difficult to get a visa to get out of Cuba, but still many of us are getting here in different ways🥰 it’s nice of you to want us here, thank you🥰
Its not 1994 anymore when every foreigner was picked up by Romanian girls...we are in 2024 and Romanian women are well traveled , well informed , very educated, speaking 2-3 languages and most of them can travel very easy to the western Europe where they are very appreciated and sought after by western men. You have to have something very special to be with a good Romanian girl/woman. Many western men came to Romania thinking that Romanian girls are easy pickings only to get a humbling experience
Actually what makes Romanian more complicated to learn then most romance languages is the grammar, we've inherited the latin's grammar, which can be quite complex compared to other languages, the slavic influences are mostly words and seeing as Romanian is almost 99% phonetic language it shouldn't matter that much.
It gets tiring to explain that there are situations when the Romanian language also retained a different type of Vulgar Latin, than western Romance and also Paleo Balkans features not found in in western Romance. So you'd be surprised how many so called Slavic words or constructs are actually of Latin origin, through an east Romance intermediary, like Proto or Archaic Romanian. Loads of them. Cheers
@@FoxxNoah Imagine that even from village to village they call things differently, so the difference is even more peculiar, when the base population in the mix is different. Specially south and East Slavs are mostly former East Romans, assimilated with part of their vocabulary, obviously also inherited by the only real east Romans left from 7 century onward, the Proto Romanians. Even west Slavs included plenty of former Vlachs (aka Romanians) of west Carpathians, south Poland and Pannonia.

Romanians start understanding Italian if they listen enough to it, and Spanish as well but not as easily as Italian. I recommend you start watching TV shows in Romanian. Flip through the channels and find whatever appeals to you. Maybe a TV series where you can kind of guess what is happening, maybe the news, maybe some stupid celebrities show. If you watch through the point of "I don't understand anything" you'll see that your Spanish set brain will start processing the language. Give it a few months to a year. Hope life in Cuba will get easier one day!

What kind of illogical comment is this. How the hell does Romania relate to Western Europe or The Balkans which is also in the southern part of Eastern Europe ? Romania is clearly an Eastern European country specifically Carpathian. Not Balkan

If you want to learn the language, first learn the alphabet and the sound for each letter plus the few exception when writing/reading (ci/chi, ce/che, gi/ghe. ge/ghe) and then study the grammar properly early on (preferably with a proper manual and a qualified teacher) as the grammar is the annoying part but it doesn't take that much to learn it properly from the start and after that, it will be very easy. The grammar is similar to French grammar, only a bit harder but do try to study it properly, early on. And that's what I say about the cold vs hot weather too, first time I ever see someone else frame the issue this way.
Thank you so much!!! I already know the sounds, I can read but the grammar is the hardest part and also the speaking. In Cuba not many people speak another language other than Spanish and I speak English too ever since I can remember so I was used to be the one talking whenever I had to communicate with a foreigner, so yes, this has been a little hard on me 🤣Also, yes most Romanians I know looooove the summer and it makes sense cause you spend most of the year with cold but for me that I come from a place where it’s always summer I just can’t stand it anymore 🤣 I’ve always thought the same way about the comparison from cold and hot weather, I don’t know, In my mind just makes sense 🤣🤣🤣
@@FoxxNoah Yeah it does make sense, heat is super hard to handle without AC. And people do like summer but they also love winter and snow, it's not really Xmas if there is no snow . Also note that last few years, few many years at this point, winters haven't been as cold as they should be and there is very little snow - the climate is messed up. Nowadays winter is more like late autumn and it's a lot gloomier and less fun - snow reflects light so it's much brighter when there is snow than when it's just wet. And ofc summers have been hotter and drier than they should be too. On the language, foreign students that study on Gov scholarships, must do a prep year first when they study the language (and a bit about the RO culture) and after that, all the classes are in Romanian so , if they can do it, you can do it too, just don't be scared of learning foreign languages. Ypu can also look at it this way, alphabet -easy, sounds- easy, spelling-easy, grammar- a bit annoying and that's why it's important to get a handle on it early on, vocabulary- it's kinda the same difficulty in all languages, unless you know a related language and Spanish is very related so a huge advantage for you. And even in English, lots of very common words are Latin origin, they entered English mostly through French. Also, Spanish speaking ppl tend to have a rather good accent from the start so you are gonna be 80% i fine on that from day one, if you learned the sounds. And ofc, it's much easier to learn if you use a language so please don't be afraid to use it. It will be a bit of work until you start to be able to think in Romanian but once you are able to do that, it becomes much much much easier and all you need to do is to actually use the language. People tend to be afraid of foreign languages without a reason, babies, so humans that have a brain that is just starting to develop, have no problem learning a language very fast. Adults on the other hand, overthink it and they end up being afraid and believing it's hard.
@realjx313 Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking your time to comment and advise me 🥰 I really appreciate it! I will do my best to learn Romanian ❤️ hope you have a nice Sunday 😊
@@FoxxNoah Happy to help if i can. Just don't allow yourself to be negative and think that learning a foreign language is hard and you'll be fine. And don't be afraid to use the language, And have a great Sunday too! Oh, if you have any questions about RO or things that confuse you, please do ask.

not true, the words that were taken out were those of turkish/greek origin. but those were already in a small percentage. the slavicisms are around 20% today like they have ever been. we are orthodox,we got the religion from the bulgarians. many words related to church stuff are of greek/slavonic origin, and we kept those. there was ever a relatinization of romanian. if you only spoke romanian, just look for neacsu's letter from 1521. out of 190 words 175 are of latin origin. the introduction is written in medieval bulgarian because it was the court/church language, but the rest of the letter is in romanian and is highly intelligible with today's romanian. i guess people think we were more slavic at some point because we used the cyrillic alphabet and church slavonic language in church service, but there are many other non slavic languages who still use one or the other today!

FYI Romanians are Latin and Cubans are Latino. Zero connection there. "Latin" is the ancient language of the Romans. "Latino" refers to people from Latin America, whose languages (like Spanish) derive from Latin. The terms are connected by language but refer to different things. ✅
@@nucavani FYI that’s precisely why I chose to say Latin and not Latino, linguistically speaking all people who’s native language descends from Latin, are Latin, not in the way of Latin Americans, that would be more of a sociocultural term to refer to people of Hispanic descent mostly, located in the American continent. Thank you so much!!!❤️
Yeah, summers are getting hotter and hotter. It's not just Romania, it's everywhere. Glad you're enjoying Romania! Greetings from Bucharest :)
Greeting from Bucharest to you too❤️
The funny thing about language is that it's probably easier for us to learn Spanish than it is for a Spanish speaker to learn Romanian. 😂
On the hospitality thing, it's apparently not necessarily something we have because of our Latinity, but rather a shared Balkan trait, because our south Slavic neighbors as well as the Albanians and Greeks also have the same traditions - all these people take great pride in being hospitable.

I think Cuba and Romania are friends since back in the days when we were a communist country too. Things changed, the governments are not that friendly anymore, but people are welcomed. No grudges! Glad you like it! Romania changed a lot lately. But we still tend to be grumpier, 45 yrs of soviet influence can leave a lot of scars.
That was not friendship, but two horrible countries coniving. When Cuba will be free, then we will be friends, as countries.

Yes it’s complicated for me at this point haha but I am understanding more and more every time.😊

Your English is very good! Did you learn it in Cuba or did you live in the USA prior to moving to Romania?
Thank you!! I learned by myself as I was growing up, by watching movies, tv show and listening to music🥰
Cheers
Wow that’s very interesting!! I will dig more into it, it’s fascinating how languages change and evolve 😊

El rumano esta mas cerca, lingüísticamente hablando, del italiano que del español. not true, the words that were taken out were those of turkish/greek origin. but those were already in a small percentage. the slavicisms are around 20% today like they have ever been. we are orthodox,we got the religion from the bulgarians. many words related to church stuff are of greek/slavonic origin, and we kept those. there was ever a relatinization of romanian. if you only spoke romanian, just look for neacsu's letter from 1521. out of 190 words 175 are of latin origin. the introduction is written in medieval bulgarian because it was the court/church language, but the rest of the letter is in romanian and is highly intelligible with today's romanian. i guess people think we were more slavic at some point because we used the cyrillic alphabet and church slavonic language in church service, but there are many other non slavic languages who still use one or the other today!
@@MarsUltor1990 I know about that stupid letter and I've had this debate before so don't even try to bother convincing me because I speak French and Italian and I know it's a lot more than just a few words.

As far as I know no one speaks Latin anymore which makes your comment contradictory, cause Romanian, French, Portuguese and Spanish just to give an example are also languages that come from Latin but there not Latin. My point is yes, there’s a difference between Latino and Latin but the way I used Latin was correct ✅
@nucavani You don't know what are you speaking about, since the romans conquered this area 2000 years ago and mixed with dacians, a new language was formed and people here you can say are part latin.
@@ovi2806 haha read my comment again before reiterating what I said, don’t be silly in the comment section 😭
@@FoxxNoah You're confusing terms. "Latin" refers to the ancient Romans and their language. Modern speakers of Romanian, French, Spanish, etc., speak Romance languages, not "Latin." I never said we Romanians speak Latin, please read the comment again.
"Latino" refers to people from Latin America, tied to both language and culture.
Your use of "Latin" for modern people isn't accurate. ✅🎤

Let’s be clear on something because we have a lot of people who have no idea of Romania’s true history and end up spreading out misinformation:
Latin is a Romanian language not the other way around.
come on man :))))
Du te cu teoriile dacopate ale conspiratiei. Dacii au fost niste fraieri care nu aveau alfabet.

I mean... There's a difference between Latino and Latin people. While yes, you have roots to Spaniards, who are Latin as well. It's not the same.
Yes and that’s precisely why I chose to say Latin and not Latino, linguistically speaking all people who’s native language descends from Latin, are Latin, not in the way of Latin Americans, that would be more of a sociocultural term to refer to people of Hispanic descent located from the American continent. But then you have other countries like Brazil, or French Guyana who are also located in Latin America and their language is not Spanish. How would you call them?
Thank the Romans in Rome. Romania is a mix of Slav and Monrgel Turk.
