Many years ago, I was at the Ontario Science Centre and spent the majority of my time there gawking and drooling at Ben's models, of which there were plenty. Such incredible craftsmanship! I recall watching Ben using a small jeweller's file to cut all the cogs into a gear for a windlass. Wow! Thanks Ben, you've started me on a career of model making from wood and from scratch. I've made a number of models now and donated most of them to museums.
@ Mr Ben -- if you were to still have those detailed plans for the Columbia ? you could have them re - printed ( a series of copies ) and sell them on the internet for a pretty penny each ! / it would keep you in wood for quite a while :-)
