I hope this video helped shed some light for anyone struggling to decide which type of locs they'd like to start! 🤗 Let me know which method you like best! Don't forget follow me on IG my loves @_KeeSamone ✨
This was a good video 💕 I just wanted to share that I have mainly 4C hair and started with comb coils. I chose that option because I didn't want to wait for the 2 strand texture/look to "disappear". But funny enough, a majority of the styles that I've done since starting were 2 or 4 strand twists...the irony! I had my locs started by a loctician and she "required" that I styled my coils to make sure I kept my hands out my hair lol (I did straight back barrel twists) and protected my starters while they did what they needed to do. My loctician also recommended monthly visits for the first few months to properly maintain my babies. I am now 7 months in (2/14/23) and I love it. It is definitely more than a hair journey as you learn to appreciate the shrinkage, the frizz, that random loc that doesn't want to follow the rest, post retwist when you're hair isn’t "perfectly presentable" etc. It's humbling, it's exciting, it's interesting, it's fun... I personally recommend that people do not skip the starter stage even if you went through the loose natural hair journey. I did the big chop and was loose for a total of 10 years. Towards the end I experimented with an undercut (too much maintenance as my hair grew back too quickly) and then a fade (loovveedd! This one calls me back a lot lol), before I grew my loose hair somewhere near my neck and then started my locs.
Again the glasses haul was Giving, loved it And the spotlight on different loc styles/methods was everything, I started with Coils and I’m loving them so far
Great video!! I started with 2strands …. I’m learning that I need to give myself the same grace, love, and attention as I do these locs. 💕 Love your channel.
Yes, I feel like the loc journey within its self helps you to remember to be patient with not only just your hair, but yourself! I truly love that you Queen! 😌🤗 And thank you so much, I'm glad you are enjoying my content!
I started with two strand twist. I love them! I know there is another style which is braid locs. Braid locs retain more length. They are alot neater with minimal frizz. They are a lot more flat as well. They do not give a lot of volume. I debated that way or two strand twist for a while. I love your videos and am a faithful subscriber 😊
THANK YOUU I’ve been thinking so long about getting locs for a YEARR and some change. I couldn’t choose because I didn’t kno the specifics of the differences 🫠💀
Thank you so much! I really learned by just playing with them and also feeling too lazy to do my hair 🤣 and also like you said just being comfy around the house! I will definitely include this in an upcoming vlog! ☺️
Love the video the glasses are fly I will be ordering a pair. I've been loc'd for 22 months I love my hair I finger coiled mine and use that method to retwist.
I’ve definitely heard that you still have that same budding type phase. I definitely would have benefited because my comb coils were unraveling so bad the first 2 or 3 months 😭
Yh. Buh the stiffness was really annoying to matter how much I wet them. It took a while to swell. Was look like coolio in gangsta paradise vid😅. SIP Coolio
Sorry sis but sister locs and microlocs are ALOT of maintenance. You have to retwist every 4-6 weeks! You have to braid and ban every wash day, and braid at night. It’s take much longer to lock with sister/microlocs and the curlier your hair, the more slippage you’ll likely experience. I have 3c hair and slippage is no joke. Let’s not forget about price! So again, with all due respect, they are very high maintenance!!
Whew, that definitely is a lot of maintenance for sure. I agree with you, hair texture also plays a big part in the frequency of maintenance with any form and i can just imagine the price if you're not maintaining sister locs at home. I'm always down to learn more so I thank you for shedding some light on the process and upkeep of sister locs love! 🤗

Yesss, i'm excited to hear you're finally starting! 🤗 Which method are you going with love?
How do you wrap your hair so beautifully 🤍 I love wrapping my head just to be comfy at home can u make a video on it
Thank you so much! I really learned by just playing with them and also feeling too lazy to do my hair 🤣 and also like you said just being comfy around the house! I will definitely include this in an upcoming vlog! ☺️
I started with interlocking
Love the video the glasses are fly I will be ordering a pair. I've been loc'd for 22 months I love my hair I finger coiled mine and use that method to retwist.
Thank you boo, those glasses were one of my favs! You’re almost at your 2 year loc anniversaryyyy, yesss s/o to you & your coil loc babies! 🫶🏽
I started with braids that I crocheted like instant locs (to diminish the braid pattern)
Beautiful Crown! I started with 2 strand twist💕
Thank you so much love & yasss i know they are thick and beautiful 😌😍
Thanks for sharing! Very informative!🌱🤎
I think I’m leaning towards the coil method myself!!! I’m curious what pattern layout you have? You and your dreads are absolutely gorgeous.
Oh yes, i am so happy i went with comb coils & I have rectangle/square parts! Thank you so much love! 🤗🫶🏽
What’s this song playing at the end of the video?
Instant locs don’t skip the “ugly”. U still pass throught that stage. It buds and everything. It just don’t unravel. I start with instant loc.
I’ve definitely heard that you still have that same budding type phase. I definitely would have benefited because my comb coils were unraveling so bad the first 2 or 3 months 😭

For free forms you don’t really just leave your hair. You would use a sponge to start it out. That’s how free forms are traditionally formed.
