The most important are hydrating and not over twisting. Wrapping is important, but not every night. I can't wrap for more than 2 weeks at a time, because my scalp gets dry and itchy from the wrap pulling moisture from my hair. And that pressure on the scalp is annoying. A bonnet is definitely a good thing, because it covers the hair without putting pressure on the scalp, tension on the roots, and irritation on the scalp.

I have really enjoyed your videos so far. New subby! I just started my locs a little over a month ago. Scheduled for my first retwist at the beginning of February (almost to the 8 week mark) and I'm so excited. I am hoping I can safely have my locs retightened no less than every 8 weeks, but I have to wait and see what they need. I started out feeling some kind of way about my starter locs, but I am embracing them, me and this journey. Thank you for sharing your journey with our community! 😊
I know this video is old but ay, the way I looked up when you went "lint mob boom boom boom" and then I laughed out loud when I read the caption bc I am from Yay 😂 I felt tricked lmao
5 weeks and a few days in.... And I'm being called out for not wrapping that head! 😩😭😭 Even before locs though, my excuse was I always did put a scarf/bandana/bonnet on and wake up in the morning for it to be next to my face 😃😭 I wasn't having it loll. But I'm trying, day by day.
Hey hey I'm new here. So happy i found your channel. We have a similar hair texture and both started with 2 strand twist. I'm 1 year and 3 months in and I'm loving it. I did notice that with my texture the length of the 2 strand twist sections are taking longer to loc in comparison to persons with looser texture. Your hair is a perfect rep of what's going on with mines.
Recently I acquired a bad habit. Plucking lint fuzz with a sewing needle out of my locks. It's weird and I know I am tearing them but I can't seem to stop doing it.
do you mean don’t use conditioner every time you wash, or just don’t DEEP condition every time? i use a lightweight conditioner every 2 weeks because i have high porosity hair and live somewhere dry. loved the video, would love some advice, thanks!!!❤
Great question! I don’t deep condition every time. But I do typically provide a light amount of leave in conditioner after every wash. (VERY LIGHT AMOUNT) and mainly only on the ends of my hair. And then I mixed water and leave in , in a spray bottle and mist my hair like every other day, especially if you’re in a dry area.
Okay. So, I’m Only half way through your video and I’m just LMFAOOOOO!! 😂😂😂You are too cute! “Lint squad” 😂😂😂😂I almost fell to my knees! See ya next video!😉
I have very loose curly hair n i went the coil route and my scalp has such a bad dandruff problem even when i oil my scalp it just irritates it but when I don’t do anything it gets dry and flaky but even I wash my hair it’s like I’m starting my love journey over. Show I restart and go for two stand twist method
New to your channel. I love your locs, your energy and you're also funny af😂🔥 Instagram brought me here btw. Lol. Just started my locs a week and half ago so I thank you for this🙌🏾 Do you have any tips for unraveling? Some of the twists on my looser curls keep unraveling. Not the entire twist because I've braided my roots, although 2 on my nape are just loose right now and I can't stand it😩. Should i keep keep twisting them (without combing) or leave them alone? By that I mean only twist them when I re-twist my new growth. Thank you in advance❤️
Hii!! Thank you so much!🤗♥️ Regarding your question, if yours are only a week in, I would go ahead just twist the ends back up. Within my first like 3 weeks, some of my twist would get loose at the end and I would just twist it back up. After like a month if anything was still loose or loose hairs I personally kind of left them alone and just waited until I gave myself a retwist. I hope that helps!
Thank you for the info , I agree with you about the nails and also the earrings . I keep pulling my hair from my earrings, I said wait a minute this is my real hair.
Wrapping your hair is important early on because your forming your locs. So in the starter phase, budding phas and early on in your teen phase, I'd say do it! But once you're in the late stages of teen phase going into mature phase, you don't need to. Hair is meant to he durable, especially locs, so why would you want to wrap your hair when GOD MADE IT to last. Just make sure you have a satin pillow and sheets, and you will be fine! The nails part makes sense because if your nails are breaking off or too long, it can impact your hair. That part is true! You should definitely keep your nails maintained so it can go through your locs smoothly! Lint is going to get into your hair no matter how much you try to avoid it. Its unavoidable. These are facts, so there's nothing around that. The better you maintain your locs, the less lints you'll have in it. You don't have to moisturize your locs. If you have a healthy diet and lifestyle, your hair especially being a black person retains natural moisture in on itself. Ancient folks like Samson had seven massive locs, you think he was moisturizing his hair every second, c'mon folks, some things are just common sense! Retwisting too often makes sense, every two months is fine once it's mature and so on . Every 4 weeks in starter, budding phases, and 4 to 6 weeks in teen phase! Agreed with don't conditioning your too much, it retains too much build up! Diet and hydration, I agree 100%! Thats is actually the most important part of your loc journey. If your diet and hydration is on point, your locs will be extremely healthy. That is more important than anything else and it's the one that gets the most overlooked of everything you said concerning folks with locs!
Since ur still in the beginning stage you will need to come back more often but once a couple of months go by I say (4-5) you can go longer without having to come back as often. Just speaking from my experience. Usually during the early stage ur locs are the most fragile and can unravel/form weirdly
I’m CRYING 🤣 I know exactly what you’re referring to. But I don’t think that is necessarily from two strand twist. I personally think it’s from retwisting too often, combined with ur retwist being pulled back in a style too tightly, combined with genetics.
It happens when guys go get a haircut BEFORE they have there new growth retwisted into their locs. The barber cuts the new growth when doing an edge up causing the hair line to slowly reseed.
You are informative and hilarious and I’m here for both! Your locs are beautiful! Planning to start them on myself soon! So I’m a NOOB…new subscriber!! I’m a Radiologic Technologist, aka xray/CT tech and work overnight so I binge watch videos and I will begin bingeing yours now!
I just started my two strand twist loc journey on the October 5, and I want to know what is the best product to use on my locs that’s healthy like what product did you use when you first started oh and have you use taliah waajid tight hold on your loc Journey before and do you know if the product causes build up or not oh and did you ever used Jamaican mango and lime locking gel with manuka honey oh that's I just watch the video and you explain how you got your two strand twist done and what products you use thank you.

I’ve been growing mines since this April, and I swear my hair has grow a lot! I get em twisted like every four to six weeks! I don’t wash it til then. My hair is very thick so my hair started locking very fast!
Instagram brought me here! Just got my starter locs (comb coils) on Jan 8th!
You are hilarious 😂 you had me cracking up this whole video...I just did my starter locs!!! Thanks for the tips 💕
Spot on sis couldn’t have said it any better!
I laughed so hard through this video that I had to watch it again😂😂!!
Loved this video I finally decided to loc my hair I started my son 10 years ago and I do my hubby there both super long so ima just go for it now
Congrats!!! You’re gonna love it 😊
Retwist is my problem i love them so much
Trust me…I get it. Lol it’s difficult.
This was very helpful I’m one month in and thanks
I love this video 😂😂 , the lint mobb😂😂 , thanks for the info , I’m getting ready to start my loc journey 🎉
I get reties every 6 weeks and I'm booked in for the next 3 months!
My aunts Loc’s comes pass her but, they are full and healthy the the crazy part is she never wraps her hair at night she doesn’t oil or moisturize, she only washes if she gets a retwist which is about every three months, she does NOTHING to her hair
I’ve had my locs for 5 months now and for the last 3 months I’ve been doing exactly this. Lol only because life is so hectic I be happy to even get a bath at the end of the night 😂😂 but that’s so nice to hear hopefully I’ll be the same
I have really enjoyed your videos so far. 😊
Thanks for subbing!!!!
Starter locs i would say at least monthly at least I had to get mine redone monthly. I am 4 years in now so i get mine redone every 8 weeks
The nail one is true!
OMG! The lint scares me. I’m considering loc’s, thanks for the video.
I just started conditioning my hair after 8 months into my journey because my hair was always dry.
I am nearly a year in and I am terrible at wrapping up my locs. I do have my pillows in silk and velvet pillow cases, though! 😅😅😅
I know this video is old but ay, the way I looked up when you went "lint mob boom boom boom" and then I laughed out loud when I read the caption bc I am from Yay 😂 I felt tricked lmao
Not only does wearing a loc-sock help keep my locs from drying out AND I have VERY LITTLE lint issues. 💯
I thank you for these tips. I’m 9 months in and I hate retwisting
5 weeks and a few days in.... And I'm being called out for not wrapping that head! 😩😭😭
Even before locs though, my excuse was I always did put a scarf/bandana/bonnet on and wake up in the morning for it to be next to my face 😃😭
I wasn't having it loll. But I'm trying, day by day.
Hahaha it’s okay, every day is a new day start fresh 😂😂 I’m still not perfect with it but I’m trying
@ImSimplyLC I LOVE your earrings...where did you get them? 😍❤️
Thank you, I just started my locs journey and this is really helpful and will be beneficial for me❤
Why doesn’t the wrap absorb the oils the same as the pillow?
Recently I acquired a bad habit. Plucking lint fuzz with a sewing needle out of my locks. It's weird and I know I am tearing them but I can't seem to stop doing it.
Started my loc journey today 😊 I laughed so much throughout this video you are so funny lol and very helpful biting my nails off now lol
my pillowcase and bed sheet are satin and silk. i got tired or wrapping my hair every night lol
I have never had lint in my locs, I think it’s because I don’t oil my locs I only oil my scalp
I use a satin scarf over my pillow. The bonnet & scarf never stayed on my head.
You're hilarious😂 I lost it at thumbs. New sub!
do you mean don’t use conditioner every time you wash, or just don’t DEEP condition every time? i use a lightweight conditioner every 2 weeks because i have high porosity hair and live somewhere dry. loved the video, would love some advice, thanks!!!❤
I’m four months into my loc journey now. The Lint Mob segment of this video almost took me out 😂😂😂😂!!
Congrats on your journey!!
@@ImsimplyLC alright. I will keep twisting them back than. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your response🥰
When I don’t wrap it up. I use my satin pillow case . Sometimes I want my hair to breath at night . So every now and then . I don’t wrap it up .
Great video! Thanks for the advice! ❤️❤️❤️
5:29 im crying “they put your name on a list” nah actually 😂
Thank you for the info , I agree with you about the nails and also the earrings . I keep pulling my hair from my earrings, I said wait a minute this is my real hair.
Thank you 🙏🏽 sooo much for the tips ima start mine myself your locs are gorgeous following you 💕
Loved the video. Can you share your moisturizing routine? Nothing seems to help mine.
This video was awesome! I had never heard about the nail thing but I learned really quickly! Thanks for sharing🖤
This was great! I’m only 3 months in but so far so good 🤣
This video is so apt...100% fact
thats nails tip is TRUE ASF i was snaggin the roots lol
Lol!!!! The strugggg!
You had me at lint mob 😭🧡✨
🤣🤣🤣
i started off with 2 strand twist locs april 15 2022 and they told me to come back every 3 weeks 3 times. how do you feel about that?
Since ur still in the beginning stage you will need to come back more often but once a couple of months go by I say (4-5) you can go longer without having to come back as often. Just speaking from my experience. Usually during the early stage ur locs are the most fragile and can unravel/form weirdly
Thanks for the tips babe i need to wrap my hair girl…I just put this bonnet on
i enjoyed this video so much. im going to go to your videos and hope youre still loccd so i can binge lol
iv subbed now , just started this helped, also u have a beautiful personalit
I have a 2-3 weeks old fade…. Should I sleep with something on my head, do I wash it once a week or what ? I’m new to this entire loc journey
I just love your humor 😅
Haha, thank you!!!
Do two strand twist pull your hairline back? You know how some guys have dreads start in middle of head an haircut in front part of they head
I’m CRYING 🤣 I know exactly what you’re referring to. But I don’t think that is necessarily from two strand twist. I personally think it’s from retwisting too often, combined with ur retwist being pulled back in a style too tightly, combined with genetics.
Tapered hairline or front taper you are referring to as the cut.
It happens when guys go get a haircut BEFORE they have there new growth retwisted into their locs. The barber cuts the new growth when doing an edge up causing the hair line to slowly reseed.
Great tips!❤️❤️❤️
Great and accurate TIPS...SPOT ON!!! Loved the energy of this Video...Thx Sis
Thank you!!!!
Does a bonnet count for wrapping your hair up ?? How should you wrap your locs ? I usually moisturize my locs and then put a bonnet on
Bonnet definitely counts!
Thank you for all the tips and you fine I have no problem thinking about you ☺️
With the nails also like scaps on ur fingers or if I work out dead skin that dries up also gets caught in ur hair and pulls hair out
Trueeee
You are informative and hilarious and I’m here for both! Your locs are beautiful! Planning to start them on myself soon! So I’m a NOOB…new subscriber!! I’m a Radiologic Technologist, aka xray/CT tech and work overnight so I binge watch videos and I will begin bingeing yours now!
It was the lint mob that made me hit subscribe you are silllly 😂😂 love the video
Hahaha!! Thank you for joining the squad!!! 🤎🤎
Your hair is so beautiful!! I’m screaming!! 😂
I'm going to get my hair loc soon I want to know what is fine 4c hair?
I just started my two strand twist loc journey on the October 5, and I want to know what is the best product to use on my locs that’s healthy like what product did you use when you first started oh and have you use taliah waajid tight hold on your loc Journey before and do you know if the product causes build up or not oh and did you ever used Jamaican mango and lime locking gel with manuka honey oh that's I just watch the video and you explain how you got your two strand twist done and what products you use thank you.
Honestly all those loc produce caused issues and build up for me, so I really only retwist with water and oil.
Love this! Thanks sis!
