1. Pulling yarn too tight
We call this “tension” in crochet and if your tension is super tight it makes it more difficult to see where to put your stitch and to pull your hook through!
2. Not turning your hook downward
I often see people trying and trying to pull through the loop on their hook with no success and eventually using their fingers to do it. The trick is turning your hook downward as you pull it through so it hooks your first loop but not the one on your hook.
2. Not knowing where to put the hook
This is very common! I put my hook in the wrong place for months when I first started and then realized what I had been doing wrong. Looking at your work from the top may help! Loom for the “V” and place your hook under both strands of the V.
