"Porto used to be the capital but now it's actually Lisbon" - Porto was never the capital of Portugal. Throughout history five cities have been considered the capital of this country:
    Guimarães: pre declaration of independence
    Coimbra: up to 1255
Lisboa: from 1255 onwards (bar three brief interruptions)
Rio de Janeiro (Brazil): 1808-21, during the Napoleonic invasions the King of Portugal took refuge in Rio and the empire was ruled from there until the French were defeated
Angra do Heroísmo (Azores): twice, 1580-1582 and 1930
Where did you get the idea that Porto used to be the capital of Portugal?

Last-minute reservations are always a bad choice everywhere !!!! Especially in summertime

For sure but some people are very last minute by nature 😂😂😂

Great video. I also watched your food blog too and I love Portuguese pastries. A few questions for you guys. Is 2 full days in Porto is enough or should I extend 1 more days? Do you recommend hooking a walking tour since we don't have too much time? If yes, do you know of any walking tour you can recommend? We wanted to see as much as we can. There is a walking tour by a company name Vox City, but it doesn't look like they let you go inside on some of those buildings. They cover 18 stops in the city. Thank you

Hi! 2 days is enough. However, it is really nice to make a day trip to Douro Valley if you like wine and beautiful scenery. Not sure which walking tour is better.

Hi I love your travel guides. I've been to Porto 10 times. Im going back again in the last week of September for 10 days. Its my favourite city on earth. I've made a few friends over the years. The people are so friendly. It's beautiful, safe, chilled. I've done a lot of the things in these videos but not everything. I have been to the lello book store in 2015 I will say it wasn't worth it. I think it's a tourist trap. I spent 5 minutes in there. I will go to see if the market is open. I went to the old one it was very run down. I normally stay in the Cedofeita area its quieter and not very expensive. I stay in an apartment cost is around 80 euros per night. I also get a free private taxi service provided by the company from and to the airport because I always use the same apartments they know me pretty well now.

Hi, Gary! Wow 10 times in Porto! That is amazing! Where are you from? We loved it there as well! Cedofeita is nice we'll try to book it next time. What company do you use? A free taxi sounds great 😃👏 Lello was not our favorite but we had to experience it for ourselves 😁 September is the harvest season. Are you booked for a grape stomping experience? 🍷🍇

Hi guys I'm from the UK. September was the only dates that were available. I use a company called bnapartments. Take a look at their Web site. They have accommodation all over the city. I'd like to go back next year and see the Sao Joao festival. Maybe if you go back next year at the same time as me we could go for a drink. You seem like a cool couple.

Like comment watch. Hey guys..let's see what's going on today in Porto. Gr8 info. Was just wondering about the bread and olives sitting there untouched. I don't like hard bread but hopefully they take it off the table if they see u are not eating it. Hmmm

Hi, Vegas! Haha yes, its just seating there. Sometimes they take it away when they see you are not eating it but sometimes its still on the table till the end of our dinner. It is very unusual but the food has been really delicious!

I will be visiting in June 2023 and wanted to know how close Sao Bento Train station is to Carmo and Carmolitto cathedrals? Thanks. Love your Portugal series.

@@Livingtheglobe But I love Fish and Sea Food too :D
If I go, I have to rent a Bike and go down the Cost (That is what I would have done anyway ^^).
It looks very nice on Google Maps when you keep scrolling the Costline! Well, I guess I would have to bring my own Bike, because once you travel south form Port, you just want to keep going... maybe to Italy :D
