113.000 views!! I didn't check the video in a longer while so I was pretty surprised when I finally saw that. Big thanks to all people who bought the DVD. For those who are still interested, you can get it here: www.hannesgrossmann.com/shop/dvd Obscura/Ex-Necrophagist Drummer Hannes Grossmann: DVD Trailer
It's double that now, still nowhere close to enough, I have the DVD and book and they are fantastic, defenetly the book is packed to the rim with stuff that will take you years to master
I met him in Tokyo. Very nice guy and very friendly. Not a rockstar, just a cool drummer. His English is sometimes not the best on his DVD, but its a hell of a lot better than my German thats for damn sure.
I talked to this guy about my pedals long ago on the blastology forums, he was sick back then, he's even more sick now, also very nice guy! I'll be buying this dvd as soon as possibru.
@PrivateSnowballTFC None of the stuff he plays is Blotted Science actually... it's Terrestrial Exiled, a project feat. Ron Jarz, Hannes, as well as Christian Muenzner and Pete Perez (of Spastic Ink). The tunes he plays would are Duodecimal Levorotation, Ocean Gateways and Vortex Omnivium, the latter two are from Obscura's new album... which by the way is awesome.
Hannes is my favorite drummer and my inspiration for playing drums. I love learning Obscura. I also have the Speed Cobra but I'd love to know how he sets up his pedals. Sents him a message on his website but it didn't work...too bad.
Aaaahh! Why would they cut off the video at 3:23 !? The next part of the song is so awesome!! I guess they want you to buy the DVD... but I am aren't drummer... :(
holy shit. i just got into blotted science like a month ago, i can't wait to get this! i've been wanting a good technical but groovy template to work from
I really love how he describes things. Haha. "Trying to have a very odd time... thing going on.. which feels very uneven.. and try to.. you know.. SLIGHTLY get more and more crazy with it."
@cooldude3 I used to think that swivel was the better technique to reach higher speed on drums, but this is impressive, though I still think that with swivel one can go faster... like george 'boring' kollias
You should just try to tweak and find a setting that fits you, not trying to find the same setting as him. His foot technique and musculature is most likely very different than yours depending on both age and how long you've played drums. If you sit down and take your time, maybe 1-2 hours max, and try to find that perfect setting for you, then it's certainly going to benefit you. Sadly there will be quite a bit of bending down and stretching which possibly could be the most annoying thing ever.
Hannes mein bester du hast so gut reden :D aber mal im ernst du bist der ebenbegriff eines sickdrummers und dein ganzer körper ist zum drums spielen gebaut samt DNS ;)) ganz große hochachtung!! Grüße Johann
Hello. I am.. Hannes Grossman. Look at my heid, I am wearing a t-shirt. This is very helpful for dee blast beats. Cut up t-shirt, and wear it, it is great for playing. Thank you.
Wow nice one there friend. Foreign isn't a nationality. Foreign has the connotation that he's not from an English speaking country; mainly United States.
me: and if I buy the dvd will I be able to play like hannes? my mom: what the fuck? off course not! you are not talented enough! me: I know, right? I'm still buying it.
@beelzebub686 Yeah don't listen to that guy, the song you were asking about isn't Universe Momentum. The song after the one you asked about isn't even Universe Momentum, it was Ocean Gateways...duno' what kind of weed that dude was smoking haha.
Awesome drummer! Good style and grooves. As opposed to some "beat faster!" guys. Still not a Jazz-skilled drummer, but at least - interesting! Good job.
Have you seen his work on the second album from Blotted Science? I don’t know anything about jazz but I would say that album is the best showcase of this drummers skill.
Hammer geiler Schlagzeuger und dafür das er Deutscher ist, ist sein englisch mindestens genauso gut, wie seine Fähigkeit, das Schlagzeug zu bedienen :D.
@SatanMcCool in all honesty i almost did bout 2 years ago. but thats besides the point i was pointing out that his voice was all soft and what not and i thought (not him) of shady guys that would use a soft voice to prey on children like given em candy or something.

"The blast beat sounds best if it's possibly fast."
Then don't play it so impossibly fast, goddamn it.
That's the voice of a Death Metal drummer!
I met him in Tokyo. Very nice guy and very friendly. Not a rockstar, just a cool drummer. His English is sometimes not the best on his DVD, but its a hell of a lot better than my German thats for damn sure.
Quite the impressive resume to have drummed for Obscura and Necrophagist.

I talked to this guy about my pedals long ago on the blastology forums, he was sick back then, he's even more sick now, also very nice guy! I'll be buying this dvd as soon as possibru.
Hannes Grossmann and Martin Lopez, possibly two of the greatest metal drummers ever

@cooldude3 I used to think that swivel was the better technique to reach higher speed on drums, but this is impressive, though I still think that with swivel one can go faster... like george 'boring' kollias
The word "beast" just got a whole new meaning....

@Jrim615 ya for some reason people have been "brainwashed" into thinking that the only way to achieve an intense speed is to swivel or heel toe.
You remind me so much of Bud Bundy, and I like your playing style! \m/
What song is that at 3:35 ???

They're both from Germany. German people have pretty distinct accent.
