Memeing. If you notice when he starts the timer again, it jumps seconds ahead.
Actually if you pay attention, you'll notice that when the timer resumes, it skips ahead to where it was supposed to be. He actually only halted the display and kept the timer running so that he could resume the timer when K Rool got back up.
Anybody else get owned by K Rool playing possum on your first playthrough. I was 9, I think, and I was pissed.

I think you just have to go through the title screen more than once for it to show up.

I found the map warps completely by accident when i was a child but no one believed me because i wasn't able to reproduce them :(
An aunt of mine whom often played the game as well back then said she once found a glitch level but never had any idea what the hell it was.
Since snes games are often held by tape and glue i kind of believe her.

As someone who beat this game once maybe ten years ago, I did not find the ways that the level order was jumped around immediately apparent as being unusual. I could primarily tell from in-room reactions that anything spectacular had happened, after I was focusing less on the video due to having seen that spike wheel level so many times. So I would go back a few seconds, and it still didn't look like anything. Can this sort of thing have much entertainment value to people who aren't intimately familiar with the game, much less people do not themselves speed-run it?

Glad I didn't notice, probably would've bugged me too. Just don't watch though, it's their run. I fucking despise gum but studies have shown that it can legitimately help people concentrate and some people use when performing really technical tasks, another example would be the drummer Chris Pennie.

The timer was still going, when it comes back you can see it's 10 seconds higher

Oh man, this run felt like I was watching someone try these glitches for the first time and had to try it multiple times just to show the trick. Of course he is ultimately better than what I could do, but I wish he didn’t fail that much for it made him seem unprofessional. Although the nerves of his situation is a factor, I’m just nitpicking in him I guess.
Why can’t there be any legit speed runs without skipping levels or maps ?
