It is absolutely weird. Every time I stumble across vo0ID running this game, I have to lay back and watch the run. Last year, he inspired me to break my own record. I will probably never reach his level of dkc3 skill, because I am lazy and stuff, but I managed to get a decent time for a casual thanks to him and his tricks
This game looks beautiful, especially in a CRT monitor. The GBA port on the other hand looks absolutely terrible, especially the area maps they decided to redo completely...
@@choronos yes, David wise is a genius, however alot of people think that dkc3's ost is the weakest for David did half the tracks while the rest was by someone else
Ikr, transparency color scheme and everything else is great. And the music is really good it fits the game real well even though it wasn't really composed by David Wise, still think it rocks
I still play this game to this day, and this is the first I've heard about Kiddy Kong's ability to skip on water. To get the Bonus barrel in the river level I did some very precise Kong throws. I always wondered why it was so difficult. lol I mean I think I read the manual?
How do you play it? It's really hard to get a hold of a ROM of any snes game by Nintendo now a days. I have the game for my snes, but the cartridge is out of battery, so it can't hold a save.
@@sumadronga nintendo switch online users can play all three for free. Also many retro game shops could point you to someone with the skills to fix that cart if youd rather not do it yourself.
You can use dixie and ponytail twirl as well as v0oid does. Something I found out much later in life after also struggling with kiddy skip as a child lol.
The Donkey Kong Country games have aged especially well. The graphics they created for these games were so ahead of their time. There is a really cool documentary about the making of these games. If I remembered the name I would share but I am almost certain it is on youtube.
Possibly the best looking game on the Super Nintendo? It’ll certainly always have a special place in my heart, that’s for sure. Kiddie Kong might be a annoying brat, but he’s still a badass!
It's always great to see DKC3 at GDQ. I can't believe 103% has never been run here before! Now I really hope we see Donkey Kong Country Returns next GDQ. It's been _waaaaaaaaay_ too long since we last saw that game. 100% preferably. Also, what's with all the rolling deep?
black sheep of the DK snes trilogy but it has it's own unique vibe and special place to me. just cuz of my age in relation to when the games came out, I played this one the most when it was current. great run
Also, I didn't know that the green bananas could only spawn a certain number of times in each location or that you could tell which direction the electricity in the second K. Rool battle was coming from. Huh.
Can someone help me out, I can't seem to make out what was said at 27:30 "It's 28 days til [something]" but someone on the couch corrects her, and I can't tell what is being said.
It's supposed to be "Allerlei Geschrei" (AHL-er-lie guh-SHRY, roughly), which is the German translation of the level Squeals On Wheels. You can also hear the couch guy saying it when V0oid enters the level at 15:10. Why they're referencing it as if it's an upcoming holiday, I have no idea. Presumably an inside joke of some kind. EDIT: It just dawned on me that this run took place on January 6, which is 28 days before February 3- which corresponds to the level's position in the game (World 2, Level 3). Still don't fully understand why that's specifically a thing, but there you go.
One of the things I never undestard is why in rocket rush there is that banana arrow poiting up at the benning of the level? Anyway, awesome run, I love DKC trilogy :)
What happened during Murky Mill? It looked like he quit out to overworld and the level was just completed. I've replayed it a couple times and I'm not sure if I'm missing a warp barrel or what
The North American version lets you choose between English and French. I believe French is faster because of shorter dialogues, but don't quote me on that. It's also possible V0oid chose French because he is from French Canada.
Because they're pre-rendered down-scaled images taken from a 3D modeling engine running on expensive and large processing hardware. And the N64 games were made on the exact same hardware, the only reason why it doesn't look as great is due to the console using a LOT less memory than other consoles.

Still can't get over how good the graphics for this game were for the SNES
This game was truly ahead of its time - gameplay, graphics and soundtrack.
The soundtracks are amazing too for all 3 games.
This game looks beautiful, especially in a CRT monitor. The GBA port on the other hand looks absolutely terrible, especially the area maps they decided to redo completely...

Underrated game in the DKC franchise. It's not quite as good as the GOAT diddy's Kong-quest, but I actually play it more often than the OG.
GOAT?

V0oid is easily my favorite DK runner, always a great run and an awesome couch
The nostalgia is kickinn iiinn aaaaaahhhh cant hold it must play through again
42:00 The most beautiful level design I remember as a child
I needed more DKC. I'm always so bummed when I don't get a good DKC or Super Metroid run from you guys.
Came in with both this time! WOOT WOOOOOOT!
Some of the best end level music in the series imo. Great run V0oid!

Kiddy skip was very difficult for me as a child. I could get it once in awhile, but the input is pretty precise for a 13 year old in 1999.

very good commentary . great run!
Aside from the nonstop tidal wave of in-jokes, very cool run and definitely one of the best couch crews I’ve ever seen
Love when skybilz is on donations, she adds so much to every run!
Nintendo games age like fine wine.
Truely incredible.

My childhood right here :D Great run BTW!
Something oddly satisfying about a DK speedrun

Thank you for this awesome run!👏🏻
'Lightning lookout' is responsible for the teeth marks in my controller... I fucking LOATH that level.
Squitter was always my favorite animal buddy, but snes controllers had such poor trigger response that his full potential was pissed away. 😞

Best DK game of all.

4 years later and I got trolled by "chen goes fishing" lol Thank you!
YOu guys are awesome! This is my favorite DK game!
Dope run
the couch is great in this one!
What do they say about the saw lore at 28:50?
That it's the lumberjacks from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past doing the sawing.
@@Zalis116 Do you know where they confirmed that? That’s pretty cool
didn't know about that secret level at the end, awsome
Fantastic run, great couch
this run is objectively the best one
Objectively. It is known.
THIS IS ONE OF THE FUNNIEST GDQ EVER
The bonus at 46:46, it seems the devs forgot to put an urchin in there.

V0oid takes imposible things and turns them V0oidsible.
Demolition drainpipe is not An autoscriller. Only 2 autoscrollers in the DKC trilogy: Ripsaw Rage and Kong Fused Cliffs
Cool run
One of the things I never undestard is why in rocket rush there is that banana arrow poiting up at the benning of the level? Anyway, awesome run, I love DKC trilogy :)
I could never beat this game so why not watch it be done extremely fast
In the 90s these games were comparable to Mario as platformers. It's possible I liked DKC2 more than any mario game! This one is so fun as well
Ojala el nuevo DK vuelva a este estilo de arte y grafico.
Why do they keep mentioning "ROLLIN?" I hate not getting inside jokes. Bcz kiddy Kong rolls?
It's about rolling off the ledge before jumping as deep as you can. "Rolling deep"
What happened during Murky Mill? It looked like he quit out to overworld and the level was just completed. I've replayed it a couple times and I'm not sure if I'm missing a warp barrel or what
1:31:45 And who is the Kroc behind the Kurtain you ask? B)
Glad my donation got read. So happy we made 3.2 mil! Wonderful run all around.
best video game ever
Amazing run, does anybody know why they play in French? Less text boxes?
I think Void is french and it doesn't matter speed-wise.
He's repping Quebec
16:44 chen moment
You cannot escape 2hu
Great runner. Great couch.
I may have missed it, but what does 103% consist of? I see he isn't getting all the bananas or letters so just wondering?
He is getting everything but those things.
DKC 1 2 and 3 count the percentage of completion from levels, bonus stages and DK coins; not bananas, kremcoins or Kong letters
Sweet run!
1:36:54 why did he let the croc bite him? I mean he loses some frames by it, does he do it for anything in particular? Or just messed up
He does that to fix the kong order. You enter the Ellie barrel with Dixie in front, but you want Kiddy in front for the next stage.
Why do speed runners hate doc 3 can anyone tell me
Good run
How did the Krimp died at 31:58?
I think it was the squitter the spider throw a web projectile, but there was so many sprites loading, that the web sprite didn't loaded properly.
Fun run
Always nice to catch a v0oid AGDQ
Is there a particular reason why they chose to set the game to french ?
I think less text lines
Also, v0oid is from Quebec, probably the cartridge he had growing up or something
Is there a reason why the text for the game is in French?
Why is it the French version?
The North American version lets you choose between English and French. I believe French is faster because of shorter dialogues, but don't quote me on that. It's also possible V0oid chose French because he is from French Canada.
Because it has less text, and thus is faster.
I think the audience choose the language
All I know is that "yeah that was good"
V0oid is sickkkkkkkkkkk
Why do the DKC games have better graphics than the Nintendo 64
Because they're pre-rendered down-scaled images taken from a 3D modeling engine running on expensive and large processing hardware.
And the N64 games were made on the exact same hardware, the only reason why it doesn't look as great is due to the console using a LOT less memory than other consoles.
coz' it's a late SNES game and set in 2D. Nintendo 64 had 3D games in initial phase, that looks now a bit outdated.
Madzlick Chinatown very interesting
When i was a kid i used to take hours to defeat the spider boss lol
How can it be 103% if he don't collect all the Kong letters?
The kong letters does not count
Kong letters only get you a 1-up, they don't contribute to the full completion.
