- Installing and tuning a CTS Turbo Boss 500 kit on this MK6 GTI TSI. This big turbo 2.0T TSI was tuned with Malone / Tunezilla software with great results on 91oct. I suspect we'll see this car back on the channel to maximize the turbo's capabilities with some additional upgrades.

Miss you guys, we're playing catch up. More content coming this week.
I've been wondering how the drag car is coming along, can't wait for a new video of it.
Absolutely! We want to see the drag car make 1050
@@CliffB5A4Agreed. Same here bro! Track cars/ builds are my personal favorite as I do similar work myself but mostly on E30/ 36/ 46 chassis cars. I still will always have a soft spot for VW/ Audi as I was very much into building and running them before I was bitten by the Bimmer bug 😁
@@pdee886 yeah I love seeing people max out cars for drag racing. 🖤
@@CliffB5A4 Definitely a hell of a lot of fun no doubt!! There are certain series/ classes that let new people that are interested in getting into racing compete for a lot less money than most normal racing bodies, plus with something like the SPEC series, it's very even and with similar cars/ legal mods. It boils down to having the majority of success from the teams "driver mod." 🙂
wish we could see the owners reaction on their first drive :)
Love your videos and all your work!
Always enjoy your videos fellas 👍 Nothing wrong with those numbers whatsoever, it will be a very different animal since a competent tuner had a hand in it, and I bet the owner will be pleased. The build is decent too, with good quality/ welll chosen mods. That Boss 500 compressor is a nice looking unit of course. Thanks again for sharing, and can't wait for the next one! 🙂
Love your work! 🖤
Would love to see some of these cars at a drag strip, road course or auto cross
Thank you for all the hard work of doing this content
You guys are amazing
Awesome keep it coming show more tuning ❤
Love the mk6 content !
love the mk6 content!!!
Nice job, nice car, do those run in stratified mode under load and what were the max boost/timing to net those numbers? Keep rolling....
The things I would do if you guys were closer I did all the work to my car myself but idk who to trust with further tuning I have the cts boss kit on my GLI made 363 341 whp on 93 but I want more!!!!! 😂 cts kit is really nice so far
Nice!! I have the k04x from CTS with 360whp on stock fueling. My buddy is running this kit with Meth, bigger injectors, and upgraded hpfp/lpfp and seeing 490whp. Clutches slipping on the DSG but once he increases clamping pressure he’ll he ripping 50-160
Stock internals?
I heard that gen2's ea888 can handle tons of power if you manage tq correctly
How much boost you running on the ko4x.
490on a ko4x hmmmm
@@845_Mk6hes making 360whp on his k04x and his buddy is running 490whp on the boss 500 kit
@@abdallahalassaf8084 The initial torque is a concern with the oem connecting rods, especially on a smaller hybrid K04 turbo. The torque curve ramps up significantly quicker (hits full boost a few hundred rpms sooner than a GT28R). I reach full boost on the CTS K04-X (~26 psi) at 3200 rpms.
I have a flex fuel A4 and was wondering about these boss kits. Keeping the stock fuel I'd be able to go a lot farther, right? I also have a methanol injection that I plan to put on. Currently IE stage 2. Are the boss kits worth it?
I'm limiting myself big time on my build with fueling. I have an 83mm bore, IE pistions, rods and springs, mhale bearings, Ferrara valves, IE mani, CTS TBE, CTS intercooler and rad, CTS outlet and throttle pipes, DV+, K04 CTS with IE K04 tune, DSG tune and mani tune. Running stock injectors, hpfp and lpfp. I didn't set up for meth, I don't want it. I'm doing the suspension now, then I may dive back into the engine if I dont start on body work.
Gotta order me one of those hoodies!
What do you think we can do with boss 500 on R mk6 full bolt on with HPFP on 94 octane. QC. What figure we can hope ? And witch tuner you can use for this purpose ? Car is on IE stage 2 pro and boost is fuc .... High peak over 30 psi Sound not good.... surging flickering boost.
Would the elite 1500 be sufficient to run a vr?
Have you guys ever built/tuned a compound turbo setup on a V-dub?
thought i needed a boss 600 kit for those power levels. what type of setup does the 600 kit open the doors for? is it overkill for a stock motor 450hp setup?
Run on low tq(not too low) set up and you'll be fine and make sure your cooling system is good to
NICE
considering this kit for my mk6 Golf R, but not sure how to go about tuning for it, as I don't have any proper tuners locally
Remote tuning
Best option would to find a buddy or purchase a laptop if you dont have one, and buy the “UNIconnect plus” and have the tune sent to you. Its an easy job to do at home. I’m know there’s other brands such as APR, Tunezilla and Cobb that will have the same idea as UNIconnect.
When’s the next live feed. ?? Need to unveil the drag car !!
We just fired it up over the weekend. More to come.
I wish I could do my mk6, with you guys but I'm from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Busca cabrerabrakes la mía hizo 426whp sin gastar 3 mil en ese kit con ko4 porteada de Puerto Rico y methanol es mucho mejor el hizo 330whp en el video y eso lo cojes en una ko4 normal
426whp on a ko4? Hmm….

when i got into vw i was told apr was the way to go but now that i have apr i never see anyone use it why is that
would i risk anything going ko4 on stock fuel pumps & injectors? I also have a mk6 gti
We have lots of mk6 k04 videos on the channel, check'm out.
How much would it cost me to come get my mk7 1.8 dyno’d? Been changing a fair amount of stuff and looking to see where I’m at for power.

So around 360whp on 91 is the max on stock fueling?
Depends on type of fuel. This had to be turned down. Left with about 330whp on 91.
I’m so full of questions. I’ve considered this kit for my MK6R. Firstly, I know my car has an EA113, but don’t the MK6 GTI use the early version of the EA888? Also, my car has the APR Direct Injection pump, so I’m curious how much this fuel system is good for. I know the EA113 ECU won’t run port injection so I’m limited unless I buy a standalone ecu.
Love the videos man
The engines are quite different but there are options for fueling for your car. It just comes down to power goals.
@@COMotorsports how much is the APR high pressure pump good for? I’ve read 500hp is that accurate?
@@vinnyvega1985 I do not believe APR offers a hpfp for the gen 1/2 TSI.
@@COMotorsports they do for the ea113
@@vinnyvega1985 yes they do, however that's not what this is.

Where do I find a black grill like that, can’t find one anywhere

Is a Mk 7 Gti a better platform for all round performance than a Mk 6 R? The 4WD is a big one for me and I hear the older engine is more robust but certainly being drawn to the later model as its similarly priced. Looking for a long term daily to improve gradually and not end up regretting purchasing one or the other. Any input appreciated.
The platform on the mk7 GTI is better if all you want is cheap power BUT the mk6R is FAR superior in multiple ways.
Each generation has it's pros and cons. Not sure where you heard of the older engine being "more robust", but the Mk 7 GTI can handle a lot - the third gen EA888 is a beast of an engine. I recently got into a Mk 7 R, and I can say it's definitely a different animal from the all FWD platforms - that AWD makes a massive difference in acceleration on slippery surfaces (tires are also very important here), also in handling.
The FWD GTI is going to be a blast to drive and modify, as is the AWD R. The question for you is, do you want FWD or AWD?
@@jameshaulenbeek5931 Pretty sure AWD will win in this instance. If I can safely drive it faster that's a giant factor. I have heard that VW stuck with the older engine in the R as it was better able to reliably cope with the higher output over the '888 GTI. Best go for the 6 spd manual over the DSG I reckon.
@@phoenixrising7047 AWD is a blast. Put good tires on it and have fun. Also, while there are differences in the engines between a Mk 7 GTI and R, the R doesn't have an older generation engine.
And I do have the DSG - it's a lot of fun.
@phoenixrising7047 the MK7s can hold a boatload of power. Making power on them is not a reliability concern if tuned correctly.
nice
how much boost were you running at the end with this kit?
Not much. I think around 21psi. This was filmed months ago so I can't remember exactly.
@@COMotorsports 21 at high rpm? i have this kit on my car and anything more than 18psi will start dropping rail pressure above 5500. just curious because im peaking at around 21 in the midrange but i taper it back so i dont have fueling issues on the top end. im on stock fueling as well. thanks.
@@DS-ed9nn sorry don't remember exactly, was months ago.
no worries, great video again btw

Would this setup be applicable for my Mk6R?

Your 95 Ron is our 91oct.
I thought MK6 GTI's start bending rods at 350 horsepower? Or is that not true?
Nah

It was in this video. Not anymore though
Let me guess...the leak was coming from the intercooler side of the turbo outlet pipe? 😏
No. Just loose clamp.
Exact same gti i own 😂
Stock engine?
yes, but it's here now for more upgrades.
What is the engine stock limit?
@@vitomelchionno6225about 600nm
The hpfp is not close to being maxed out. The stock lpfp and fuel pump controler is the limitation. The ea113 hpfp would need to be upgraded at that hp level.
Wrong and HPFP is the first to run out About 350 wheel is the limit Its well documented. Also its why Some people run Nostrum HPFP & MK7 R injectors like myself.
@alowlevelbot43 The MK6 GTI has a TSI engine that does need an HPFP upgrade. The FSI needs an HPFP upgrade to run anything bigger than the stock turbo. The Golf R has a different engine.
Wow, the MK7's are seriously so much stouter than the MK6's.
A hybrid k04 can make 450wheel kw
Nope, and not without fuel could it even think about it.
The turbo might be capable of making that much power, but the oem low pressure fuel pump limits the GTI to around 350 whp (same for the MK7). Also, the smaller turbo spools more quickly, and therefore the torque curve ramps up a few hundred rpms quicker, so the connecting rods become a concern. I'm currently running the CTS K04-X kit on my daily driven MK6 on the stock rods/fuel system, along with a custom tuned ecu/tcu. At around 380 whp, the high pressure fuel pump becomes the limiting factor.
Needs a Nostrum HPFP and MK7 R injectors. and water meth.
Direct port meth and send it , it will probably make too much power for the fwd
CTS SHOULD CALL THIS BOSS 300 OR BOSS 400
Nope. It's labeled correctly.
@@COMotorsports 🤔🤔🤔
@@craizygolf1980 turbos are rated as HP not WHP. So it will make 500hp for sure.
@COMotorsports yes, I understand probably when it's all done I might hit the 500+

Great job on ur behalf 👏 👍 👌 🙌 😉
That turbo is a bit of a dog hey?
No, not at all. Doing exactly what I'd expect for a turbo of this size to do at this point on our fuel.
@@COMotorsports power wise, yeah. I was kind of talking about spool, like like 38-4000? Hard to tell however.
@@JordieG8 Maybe a couple hundred RPM but nothing out of the ordinary. I wasn't starting the run until a bit later also as the TQ hit is what drags down the fuel demand. This one's coming back to push the turbo more. :)
