The idea that we (a brokerage) would all keep listings in house is crazy. The product is a home which belongs to a seller. They should have the most exposure as possible to sell their home. The idea that we as agents and brokerages would hoard homes in house is antithetical to the best interests of the consumer. Leo has the right idea - and the other guy is only looking out for himself and his company commissions - probably thinking that they would be offering a luxury, exclusive product. The next step would be for home owners to take the bull by the horns and sell their own homes and by-pass real estate brokers completely. If it comes to being selfish and hoarding homes for an exclusive club or selling your home on your own, I opt for the FSBO becoming the norm (and train home sellers how to get the most money for their home). I would never put a home sellers best interests aside to make an extra buck.
