For anyone watching this know that there is a bleeder on thermostat that needs to be at the highest point and that bolts should be torqued to 9 foot pounds
I was surprised to see a gasket between the thermostat housing and the water pump in the video. I thought the thermostat rubber gasket was all that was used to seal it. Thus, the minimal 9-foot lbs. of torque, which prevents smashing the rubber gasket and causing a future leak.
Im about to change the thermostat on my Dodge Ram myself today so this video has given me the information I needed. Thank you, I hope I can get it done without throwing a crazy woman fit 🤣
My mechanic says i need abd insulator block which is behind the thermostat housing 😢but i can't find it any where im not sure if thats the actual name of the part needed
Lot of people are switching to 180 cause they want to prevent unseating of the heads apparently issue for all hemi not this guy he wants the heater to work like a fireplace 180 gets a done and gives you a temp buffer . If your worried about a heater get a remote start and give yourself more time in the morning
Great video! About to replace my water pump & while I’m there going to replace the thermostat. I’ve read about the stock 203 degree thermostat & many had changed to 180 degree for better performance. What originally made you want to change the stock 203 to 180?
Question while driving on set 65MPH... battery light indicated LOW BATTERY then 30 seconds later temperature gauge flew up all the way to hot...I turned in the hazards and disengaged the cruise control and as the truck started to slow down...the temperature also came down almost instantly??? Strange but true...and what do I do.
My thermostat housing didn’t have a gasket. All that was there was the rubber ring around the thermostat? It looks like you have a blue gasket in between?
Mine didn't have one either when I replaced it. I just put one on. I think the rubber around the tstat is the actual gasket but no harm in putting on the one sitting inbetween housing and water pump I wouldn't think
I have the same year ram, any suggestions on what to check when my heater only blows heat on the passenger side? I flushed the heater core and checked the blend door actuator and still no change. Any help would be appreciated
What was it? I had the same issue. Bought a special tool to clean out the heater core. It hools up to a compressor and a water hose. Cleaned it out works fine. Only use short bursts of compressed air so you don't t damage the core.
Did you know there's a drain valve on the bottom of the rad I guess your not interested in saving the environment with all that fluid pissing every where that just speaks of your lawn care service
Short..sweet and to the point. This is the best thermostat replacement video!!!! Thank you for the minor details that ARE crucial to this issue.
Thank you

I though you had to make sure the vent hole was on top.
I’m having the exact problem with my ram ! Y’all solved it for me

Really need a Milwaukee power ratchet there! Would have cut this video time in half lol.

Me too. How’d it go for you?
Bro
That really helped me out and saved me some money!!!!!!
Thanks
My 2013 Ram doesn’t need a gasket for the housing. The gasket seal is on the thermostat itself.
Thank you for the video
really good video bruh. im changing mine on my 2017 ram 1500
Great video! Thank you so much!
Thanks guys. Sounds like you have the Hemi broken exhaust manifold bolt tick. Did mine at 100,000.
Yup. That’s exactly what it is.
Have to do the same thing to my ram this weekend.
If you want to do it correctly watch other channels this is the worse one I've seen
Nice video. Thank you
Im about to attempt this I barely made it home before I heard a rush coming out from under the truck.
Oh wow!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
What's the name of the insulator behind the thermostat housing
Good stuff
Where did u get that gasket from? Hemi's didn't have gaskets on them. There is no need for one. It comes on the stat.

Get a cordless ratchet, makes the job a piece of cake
Thanks for the video , wi have a 15 Ram , when should I change coolant and thermostat? How about trans fluid ?
Do you self a favor and don't take thier advice unless you want to blow up your truck
I need help finding the locking pliers yall used i looked on harbor freight i didn't see them. Thanks

Your absolutely right. The heater isn't as warm.

Well to be honest that was the only thermostat available.
Don't even take their advice on that go to a1 auto parts if you want proper info
any damage to the integrity of that hose. maybe rot prematurely do to the clamp

My truck temp is running at 212-224 while driving and about 203-208 while idling. Is this normal?

@@Flies_the_limitI was debating wether to out the housing gasket in or not. Wonder if it affects the thermostat gasket? Like not compress it properly?
The housing doesn’t need a seal. The seal is on the thermostat. You can buy a gasket and put it on the housing if you like
You didn't put the new gasket on.
It's fine this isn't a lawncare video; truck and equipment repair videos are good too. That being said, I have to go cut some grass 😂
What’s the fluids your putting in
I forget what it was. However it was fluid the dealer recommended for my vehicle
I have the same year ram, any suggestions on what to check when my heater only blows heat on the passenger side? I flushed the heater core and checked the blend door actuator and still no change. Any help would be appreciated
Hi I’m still having the same issues as you. I would’ve thought it was the blender door actuator. Let me do some research. Thanks.
It's time for you to get a new truck 😂

From what I've seen there's multiple blend doors other than the one behind the glove box.
Could be heat core, water pump, evaporator
I did it all but my damn check engine light won’t go off now.
Did you every get the check engine light off, I’m pretty sure you have to get a tune to fix that
Way to talk us through the repair
Thank you.
Lol u dropping everything 😅😝

The hell with draining the rad. You don’t necessarily have to drain the rad. Takes longer doing all that.
You guys are butchers
