    My wife and I just returned from Greece. We are both in our 60's and we greatly preferred Santorini. I took more pictures than I've ever taken. Mykonos is "party island" and "wind island". We are not partiers and the wind blew 20+ mph each day. The views and sunsets at Santorini are breathtaking.

      Everyone definitely has their favorites! Santorini, the island itself, is definitely prettier than Mykonos. Glad you enjoyed your trip!

    Thank you for the great video. I have been to Mykonos over 25 times and Santorini 2 times. You are right they are very different. I feel they both used to be a lot better especially Mykonos which I remembered it as a jetsetting island before all the cruise ships started overrunning it during the summer and it became more mainstream touristic. It used to be kind of the St Barts of the Eastern Mediterranean. It still can be a beautiful place to visit especially a little off season ( May-June and then September) Mykonos is a no go in August since it is crazy. In fact I would not recommend either island during high season. You are right in Mykonos you can spend more time and relax, I felt in Santorini 2-3 nights max are more than enough. After that, I would get bored. Other islands I really love are Crete of course although very different to these two islands of this video, very large island and you definitely need a car. Melos, Folegandros, Rhodes ( again I would avoid the really high season July-August in order to have the best experience.

      Aw, thank you so much for the lovely comment! I tried my best to make it informative, so many mykonos or santorini video here on TH-cam are influencers and don't give much concrete information/real vacation experience to share!

    Where are the white sand beaches? Where are the resorts that are 5 star in Santorini and in Mykonos? Thanks for sharing. I did not like what I saw on both islands they look run down and too many tourists from all over the world. Due to the sun, salt, a lot of the places looked run down.

      The beaches on Santorini are FAR from many of the places people stay in (Oia, Thira). We went to a black sand one in Santorini and while it was cool, there was nothing else around it. We weren't impressed with the ones in Mykonos either, but it seems there are some further out we could've taken more busses to get to. Happy to share if it helps!! I've seen SO many "influencer" vlogs of Santorini and Greece over the years, and wanted to share a more real picture of the place :)

      @@StephanieSafdie Hi, thanks so much. I loved everything you did on a short time and budget and traveling with parents. Do film more videos. If you can on other Greek islands with resorts that are impecably clean and pretty and nice beaches hopefully with white sand. That is what we envision here in the US. Thanks again for sharing. All the best. 🙋🏻‍♂️😘😘🥤🥤

      @@StephanieSafdie Oh my. I booked end of April/early May 2024 - both Santorini and Mykonos (plus Athens, Delphi, Meteora). I saw your vlog and I was thinking you were there January/February because of the gloomy weather. I hope I will be luckier 😅

    Haven't been to either but based on people's experience, I think i would prefer Mykonos.

    Why is the red sand beach dangerous?

    • @StephanieSafdie
      @StephanieSafdie  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lots of rocks, not enough "danger" signs or signs to keep tourists away! We didn't go, but Tripadvisor shared a lot of scary stories...

      @@StephanieSafdie Good to know! I’m going on a cruise around Greece and Italy next year and we stop at both Santorini and Mykonos for a day. I came across your video doing some research and they are both beautiful

    Did you visit another island better than mykonos or santorini?

    • @StephanieSafdie
      @StephanieSafdie  ปีที่แล้ว

      ahhh no not this time, just mykonos and santorini - but I've heard lots about Paros!

    Wouldn't visit either now, overrated, tourist traps. Neither are the authentic charming villages they were when we went there in the mid 1970s. Wouldn't even recognise Mykonos now except for the windmills. Totally spoilt.

    did you book as a package, or flight and hotel separately? And which airline? Thanks

    • @StephanieSafdie
      @StephanieSafdie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did everything separately! In and out of Greece from Paris was Sky Express... fair price, but not sure I could say I recommend or would fly again as they screwed up everyone's seating on the plane (split up families with young kids)
