    I was lucky enough to visit way back in the 80's when it was more unspoiled. Still looks great of course, and more restaurants, but it's crazy expensive now for places to stay . Loving your travels , keep em coming.

    Mykonos is one of the most famous Greek islands. Located in the Cycladic region of the beautiful Aegean Sea, Mykonos offers amazing beaches, beautiful nature, picturesque villages, delicious Greek food and a chic lifestyle. However Mykonos is very famous for its great nightlife.

      @@TheDomnt Totally agree. Just spent a week on an island called Kefalonia. Very laid back. Quiet. Just stunning. Heading over to Mykonos in 2 weeks. Have a feeling it will be way more expensive than Key.

      @@TheDomnt Was so disappointed with Mykonos. Just a rocky island, with expensive hotels, food and drink. Only thing to do during the day is lay around pool. At night you go into town which is where you see the blue and white pictures of. 2 days is ample for Mykonos. One of the most over rated places I have ever been to.

    • @IslandHopperTV
      @IslandHopperTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On this island it was actually automatic. But on other islands it was Manuel. This was a mini cooper actually. Depending on the lounge or beach club you can go on their website to book usually. Not all beach clubs have you book before you go. Scorpios does though because they are so busy.

    Sorry got to disagree with you about Mykonos having the best beaches. Naxos has superb beaches like St George's and Agios Anna and others along that stretch of coastline. They are not as crammed and expensive and have calm shallow water ideal for swimming.

  • @atwells5754
    @atwells5754 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One of Greece's most expensive brothels... as for the wind, the Aegean is the sea of winds.... in the summer you have to deal with the MELTEMI an often brutal NW and NE daily blow that takes your head off and causes the seas to boil... no surprise then. Go to Mykonos if you're willing to pay $50 for a bottle of beer... Nasty.

    Mykonos is uniquely beautiful in this very interesting videos. It is a true visual pleasure to watch this footage time and again.
    However, the UGLY truth beneath this surface of picturesque and attractive ambience and architecture is that the whole island, once the retreat of preference for international classy celebrities (writers, composers, Nobel prize laureates, painters, opera singers, Hollywood actors) and very-old-money tycoons, is nowadays riddled with sheer lawlessness, tax evasion, drug trafficking, prostitution, money laundering and oligarchs and sheiks that brutally exploit the seasonal Greek workers of the island (waiters, hotel employees, cleaners, cooks, technicians etc) and treat everybody like trash.
    The island's villages and country side are way over-built in disregard of all urban laws and limitations, while hotels, villas and restaurants charge go-go exorbitant prices (way above anyone would dare charge in a Caribbean-level island). Mykonos does NOT welcome average tourists (well off or not-so-well-off) anymore. It definitely has stopped attracting celebrities long ago.
    It is typically host to ostentatious, nouveau-riche clientele, cruise-ship travelers that visit the island just for a lunch, and young people who can marginally afford to spend one or maybe two nights on the island just to brag to their friends that had been there.
    Avoid it at all costs, primarily in the "tourist season" from late April to late September.
    Mykonos is just another island in fast, dark, irreversible decay.

      Well if you live in the West you can visit the Ionian Sea (islands) ,that is the west coast(!) of Greece ,it could save you a few hours of travel...and (unfortunately) yes Greece is the last soviet country of Europe (probably the rest of the world...).

      @@jimjim8645 another uneducated fool speaking nonsense. Greece (where democracy was born) is and has been a democracy and belongs to the West. The country is one of the oldest European Union members and member of Eurozone and the Shenken treaty. It is also a NATO member for decades and a strong ally of the US. 🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣😂What are you talking about 🤣😂🤣😂

    • @greekkamaki
      @greekkamaki ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yup socialist.... You got that right.... Especially Myconos which is a play ground for the rich and famous... With luxury yachts, expensive luxury hotels, restaurants and with some of the best (and very expensive) night clubs in the world! Few months ago was a story in the media about "American tourists visiting the popular Greek island destination Mykonos were reportedly left aghast when their meal of “two crab legs and a couple of Mojitos” set them back nearly €600." That was probably over $700 at the time.... Well when there is demand, the prices go up :).....
      Myconos is a beautiful island with good night life, but expensive and overrated. Greece has over 1000 islands, they are better and cheaper islands in Greece to visit than Myconos.
      Greece, like the rest of European countries are capitalist.
      They just put a greater emphasis on caring about the well-being of their people than the United States does.
      They use the power of capitalism to achieve this.
      We see it this way:
      We give them money in taxes, they give us social programs. Universities, high schools, pre k schools, good roads and advanced public transportation systems, universal medical care, job security, good safety nets, unemployment, extended paid, day offs from work and good old age pensions.
      Usually all European countries are at the top or at least rate really high on quality of life index....
