The thing is though in order to even get that good interior for the Elantra you have to go for the $25k USD Limited Option - even the N Line doesn't cut it. And realistically with the K3 you'll get an interior that's just on par with the Elantra but a few grand cheaper. I'd have to go with the K3.
@@nwing07__ Sure but $3k is still a bit, and you'd have to spend even more to get the good 180 hp engine. I'd say that if you're willing to wait maybe 2-3 years and buy a used Civic, you could for below $20k. Also, then again, you could get a Mazda 3 with a much better interior than the Forte/Elantra for under $20k. But you can't beat Kia's warranty and (I'm pretty sure) lower insurance premiums. Hard choice.
@@nwing07__ Also, along with this, I find no reason to get the Elantra because the Civic/Mazda 3's interior is better than both and you don't have to spend $25k to get it.
Hi Mari! Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽, I own a 2019 KIA Forte and it has been a good car so far. To be honest, I’ve never imagine buying a KIA but after many reviews, driving tests and due to the great warranty package, I decided to go with the Forte (K3) In summary, I think KIA offers many features and technology for a lower price comparing to other brands, another thing I liked is that the Forte is assembled in Mexico 🇲🇽 for the North American market, so I’m happy to let you know that I’m still a happy KIA owner 😃
The K3 reminds me of the older model Lexus GS300, albeit with more modern light clusters. The Elantra is more original and futuristic. But in terms of practicality, the K3 is easier to live with on a daily basis.
Both Kia and Hyundai have a strong market here in New Zealand. Personally I think Kia is just absolutely smashing the competition, such brilliant design and innovation clear in anything they produce these days. Fantastic video!
I like the Hyundai Elantra better overall over the Kia Forte. Although I like the Kia’s exterior better, I prefer the Hyundai’s interior. Though I can’t make up my mind whether I prefer to buy The Hyundai Elantra or larger Hyundai Sonata. The Sonata is more spacious, has a panoramic roof, and get more tech features than the Elantra. However, in my opinion, the Elantra is better looking than the Sonata, plus us less expensive, and more economical.
Cool stuff, This is the exact same reason why I went for the elentra Nline instead if the sonata,I really wanted the sonata because of of the panoramic roof and more features but budget wise the elentra wins overall for me plus I prefer the exterior of the elentra, also it offers most of the features the sonata offers aswell which made me go for it
I'm in the market for a new car and these two are my choices. Plus, I love the finance and rebates these companies offer, better than Honda and Toyota. So undecided.
Hyundai Elantra won in all category, both exterior and interior design, amneties, including the driving characteristics. The only downside of these two cars is the CVT transmission. I hate cvt.
Very good comparison. I do like the face lifted K3, but overall I do like the Elantra redesign more. K3 redesign in a couple years will address its shortcomings.
personally, the Elantra looks better inside & out to me. Especially love the side profile with the cuts and the fastback looking back on the outside, and the driver centric driver's configuration on the inside(that includes that grab handle lol).
We have a 2020 Elantra SEL and it’s been great …to me the 2021 is just plain UGLY ….. we won’t be trading anytime soon but if we did we would definitely go for the K3 although I don’t like the “iPad look” on the dashboard compared to the “built in look on our 2020 Elantra …… good cars though with great warranties.
Great comparison. I did this recently and I agree with everything said. I personally cannot get past the looks of the Elantra. Another big factor is price. Elantra is more expensive. So K3/Forte is better value. And you can get a Kia Seltos now for about the same price as the Elantra. So in my opinion K3/Forte beats Elantra and Seltos beats Venue, and Hyundai has some work to do. They need to make the Elantra look better and lower the price more comparable to the K3/Forte. And they need to make the Venue bigger to compete with the Seltos. After all is said and done, I am buying the Seltos.
Hyundai Elantra for me. It's a lower, wider stance which makes it look much more sportier. Not a fan of the K3 wheels and interior. The Elantra's innovative exterior and interior design is unlike any other compact car on the road so it definitely stands out, in a very good way IMO. Great comparison review, Mari!
I thought I wanted a Forte but I've seen so many videos like this where they talk about how driving in the Elantra is much more pleasing and now I think I'm getting an Elantra instead
For me the kia K3 is very responsive on the road..did 200 Km /hr on the Mauritian road… the car was very responsive and also on the round about. As it is a 123 hp car, the improvement in kia is very well appreciated in Mauritius
Gosh I wish I saw this a month ago; I originally was looking at the Forte - but ended up in a middle model of the 2021 Elantra (called Preferred here) and I'm surprised how smooth it drives; very quiet, and solid inside. Useless plastic piece to the left of the gauges (I can only hope they have some neat options for it down the road); love the gauges and controls for the driver (passenger do not seem to care for it; but I like it). Mileage is crazy good .. city I'm getting 5.6-6.1 L per 100km so that is so close to 50mpg (imperial) its crazy .. my Neons got 27-31 so it seems like magic to me. The nose, it's not for everyone and nothing wrong with it - but I ended up going with black to hide it and match the wheels better. So funny, no rear seat vents here .. there's literally a place but they have it all filled in.
I have driven both cars, the K3 with manual transmission and the Elantra with IVT and simulated shifting. I ended up buying the Elantra SEL with convenience package and as this is just three days into my ownership I can say I love driving the car, which has surprising power in the sport mode and it handles road bumps well. The Apple Play and hands off phone are wonderful. Still figuing oiut the dash and infotainment screen. This video helped me decide!
I just bought the Elantra Ultimate in Canada, so I compared the configuration differences between the North American version and the Korean version. The Korean version has memory seats, automatic folding mirrors, an automatic start/stop system, 360 degrees panoramic image, and seat ventilation. These features are not available in the North American version of the Elantra. I think these features are very important, but why should they be canceled? Finally, the interior is basically made of hard plastic. As you know this is HYUNDAI, I don’t know why they like to use hard plastic for interiors so much. If I choose the configuration, I can spend an extra 3,000 to upgrade a better interior. I upgrade 100%. Unfortunately, this option is not available.
What's worse is Elantra's US models are also better than what we get here in CA. The Elantra SEL with Convenience package which is the same as Preferred with Sun and Tech package in CA gets 10.25 inches digital cluster. The Ultimate you have, which is one trim higher than then Pref Tech don't have that! Price difference between Pref Tech and Ultimate tech is a whopping 7K$ !!
Hi ... good day from Pakistan... I must say u are Very fluent in English and have a nice accent... clear and good voice, nice mix of tech and general explanations. Aspired by your work. Well done and looking forward for more of your good comparisons.
This was a great review. I liked the look of the K3 at first, but after purchasing a 2022 Elantra limited, I can say it is so much better. Elantra is definitely the best way to go.
I have the 2021 Elantra and this is my 3rd Elantra. It definitely has more “pep” than the other 2. It is much lower to the ground, I think too low. I’m only 5’1” and sometimes I hit my head getting in. The interior to me feels claustrophobic especially with that bar, brace, whatever you want to call between the front seats. Sometimes I enjoy the Syfy look the car has and sometimes it is embarrassing but it is striking. It keeps beeping at me, when ever I drive under a bridge or sometimes even a tree branch it beeps that my headlights are not on. Once it recommended I stop for coffee! And half the time it beeps and ,while dealing with traffic, the message doesn’t stay in the screen long enough to see what it was telling you. I very much liked the other Elantra’s but I have very mixed feelings about this latest one.
I understand the lower design, combined with lengthening and widening the body made it possible to seat six footers-plus in the rear seat with no problem.
I like the exterior and interior better with the K3. I like the interior better with the K3 because I do not like how everything is just pointed toward the driver and there’s that center handle thing (@7:51) that is blocking the passenger from cup holders, a/c, etc. If you were the passenger in that car, it would suck!
@@MotorgraphWorld Thanks! I would love to visit you. Meet its people, taste the food and discover the success of its economy. Samsung, Hyundai - Kia, LG, etc. Maybe in the next Lunar New Year 🤞Take care 😷
Hi, nice way to compare two cars that are "cousins". I prefer the Elantra. I currently lease a 2020 Sonata SE (basic trim) and I'm very happy with him. I would like you make a comparisson between Sonata 2021 N-Line with 2022 Kia Optima (K5, I think). Sorry for my mistake. Thanks.
I have been keeping an eye on the Elantra, or my case in Singapore it's known as the Avante, it just looks so aggressive!! Cool car! Trying to see if either the 1.6 liter Turbocharged Engine 6-speed auto version or the 2.0 liter standard engine auto would be available here.
When my car was totaled in June I had the option of renting these two models. I went with the Kia and enjoyed it except for the torque. There is definitely a lag in power if you need to accelerate to change lanes or merge into traffic. Otherwise, I throughly enjoyed the Kia more than I thought I would. I can really tell the difference now that I have my new car, but for entry level it’s a decent car.
I really like the new Hyundai steering wheel. I got a Tucson which is Australian 🇦🇺 tuned. I would like to see more Australian tuned KN and Hyundai’s possibly with local manufacturing for AU/NZ market. That would be fabulous
Personally, having driven both, I lean on Kia's side. Its feels tighter and sportier when you drive it (Sports mode VS Sports mode I mean). And you can feel there's a bit more power on the Kia's side. (probably a question of settings somewhere) Wich also explain it consumes a tiny little bit more gas.
Something to note I believe the k3 has a 1.6l non-turbo. In Australia and the US we should get the 2.0l, still not strong but not as weak as she makes it sound. Great review!! Agreed with everything else!! 👌
I test drove and then ordered a 2022 Kia Forte (K3/Cerrato) GT-Line just yesterday. It has the 2.0 liter engine. I was cruising along the freeway at 80 MPH (130 KPH) quite comfortably. It didn't feel stressed at all.
@@jeffmorse645 yep 2.0L is fine for this sort car size. I got the 1.6L turbo GT (Cerato it is called in Australia) and it is a beast. Your 2.0L will be more comfortable with the smoother suspension however. Hope you enjoy it!!
The design of the Kia is more contemporary and IMO has a hint of BMW in the side profile. The side air vents at the end of the dash in the Kia look like a big proboscis sticking out of the facia. The Elantra in Australia is now called the I30 sedan to bring the naming in line with other Hyundai products. That weird item on the left of the dash you commented on is there to fill in as in the upper models, a dial is there for drive select.
Gonna be trading my ‘22 Elantra N-Line for the ‘22 Forte GT here as soon as it’s available in the US. I am really hoping that the US-Spec Forte has the same digital cockpit cluster. Major selling point for me.
@@deerghayuphukan1215 They used to. Elantra has gone through a full change recently, but K3 is received only a minor change (facelift). So, the new platform is expected to be introduced later.
Thanks for the detailed comparison reviews .👍 I love the architectural lines, comfort, performance and handling of the Elantra/Avante (with the highest trim and convenience package). Leaving my Toyota Corolla behind for the dramatically improved infotainment system. I didn't notice until you pointed it out that the interior is driver-centric. That explains the weird passenger bar handle.
Regarding the Elantra, I can't get past the non-functioning circle-and-line design by the gauge cluster. Can the designers explain why they did that? It could be used to stick on post-it notes for reminders I guess. Also, the plastic covering where rear side windows should be cheapens the overall look of the vehicle. I can live with the oversized front grill, but prefer the tiger nose grill of the K3. The review was nicely done.
I I have the Elantra ultimate and I wish she would’ve reviewed it correctly because she would’ve known that that side cluster is for you to put your phone Holder it helps if your Uber driver.
It’s so interesting watching this. I own a 2021 Hyundai Elantra Limited and my car does not come with air vents in the back seats or a foldable armrest/cup holder. I’m assuming these cars really do vary depending on their country which is so weird. Why would some countries need cup holders in the back and others wouldn’t ? Lol
Two cars we don't have in Europe (we have our "own" i30 an Ceed which are of the smaller category and hatchback because it seems we do love hatchback). It's hard to tell which one is the nicest, both have great design and I love the Hyundai new face. The Elantra has a kind of CLA flavor in her proportions, kind of coupe sedan. 5:36 piano black is a trend I don't understand tbh I don't want my car to be full of fingerprints and dust :P 7:30 I'm not fan of the wheel design of the new Hyundai and this trim is really dark, like really! not really fun. The ambiant lights is almost compulsory obviously. 8:13 +1 that's weird to put some "sticker/drawing" I guess that's the modern "blank button" to fill up empty spots :D Maybe they plan to put a little screen there in the future (like aiways does in their U5) In the end, I do prefer the Hyundai. It's kind of funny those cars have CVT while Hyundai/Kia has really good DCT transmissions. Great video as always, I just wonder how much they cost and I would like to see Ma Ri test drive a DS, I've seen great ad for the french manufacturer on Naver :D
I initially very much dislike the Avante CN7 when I first saw it in photos. But seeing the car for real, I was pretty much impressed instead. The low slung nose helps to make it look very sporty and overall design looks pretty cohesive, other than the fussy lines at the rear boot. Pity that the interior has too much hard plastics which should be soft and the glove compartment lid dampener was removed which let the lid just drops down without the soft opening effect. Both of which are signs of Hyundai cutting cost for the Avante for the sake of the edgy design. As for the K3, because of its higher height, it gives an illusion that the car is bigger overall than Avante. I like the K3 clean design better but I dislike the low location of the rear signal lamps which look out of place and way too low for safety concerns. Overall, Avante still have my liking the most for the overall better package.
First of all nice to see Kia new logo looks similar to my initials NK but KN. N upside down. Now front definitely K3 looks good but I like Elantra back. Wish we had KN K3 front and Elantra back! Inside definitely Elantra
After driving the K3 aka Forte vs the Elantra, overall the Kia drives more sporty has the better looking exterior, but interior comfort is better on the Hyundai. If anyone wants something in this class, I would say pay a little more for the GT trim or just get a Civic or Mazda 3 to get better interior build quality and better materials.
The elantra is a million times better. It is newer and moremodern. The k3 design has been around for a few years. the nenew elantra is way better. I will buy the elantra
Nice review! I have to choose between New Elantra and I30 Fastback Mild Hybrid! I like that New Elantra has new platform and as you said, it handles very well on the road and for me it matters a lot! I wonder if New Elantra and I30 Fastback shares same technology and platorm!
How can I reach KIA (corporate)? We need 2022 K3 GT HATCHBACKS made available in the USA. A sedan is not right for me. KIA has only offered Forte sedans in the USA so far. Canada got Forte hatchbacks. Please tell KIA that we need HATCHBACKS in the USA.
I am into SUVs cause I love off-road driving a lot. But when I am buying the car I will go for Hyundai or Kia. Koreans are stepping up their game believe me.
I really respect this channel and Mocar for reviewing Korean and European cars only. I will never buy another Japanese car or product because of what they have done to my country. Thank you.
The KIA is far more esthetically pleasing all round compared to the Hyundai. Also in the Hyundai, that piece of the trim which separates the driver from the passenger is the most ridiculous idea ever.
This was a great comparison! Great review. Piano black is not a great material on any car. I don't think I could disagree with the reviewer more, lol. I think the Kia is very vanilla. It's fine but boring. The Elantra is a beautiful redesign. Hyundai definitely would be my pick. To each their own. Either way South Korean auto makers are doing great.

Hope you enjoy it!!
the overall of the Kia K3, i like is the steering wheel, the rest, I like my Kia K3 preFL, period
I like it elentra
I got my Elantra 2 months ago and extremely loving it.
Trad it on the Kia ,,,, you will like that to ....
Kia K3 looks amazing!
I like the conservative design approach of the K3 but the Elantra looks more premium and eye catching.
Im driving an Elantra 2017 and still is very happy with its performance. 😊
Gonna be trading my ‘22 Elantra N-Line for the ‘22 Forte GT here as soon as it’s available in the US. I am really hoping that the US-Spec Forte has the same digital cockpit cluster. Major selling point for me.
Does it have the digital cluster? Ik this one does but idk about us ones
Love Mari's voice
She does! Check out this page: 5dang.ebs.co.kr/auschool/detail?courseId=10209640
@@MotorgraphWorld didn’t know she is an English teacher 👩🏫 good job
Function of that Left Panel is for a suction cup phone holder. At least that's what I use it for :) works great!
Wow, this is such a good comparison. It's very relevant.
Great review!! This just made me realize I am going to go with a 2022 Honda Civic...lol. Thank you - very informative 👍
Thank you for watching!
Driver's side separation bar is brilliant!
Aren't both the cars same underneath?
Same powertrain on different platform
@@MotorgraphWorld they don't share the same platform like the Palisade/Telluride, SantaFe/Sorento, Seltos/ix25(Creta)?
@@deerghayuphukan1215 They used to. Elantra has gone through a full change recently, but K3 is received only a minor change (facelift). So, the new platform is expected to be introduced later.
Thanks for the detailed comparison reviews .👍 I love the architectural lines, comfort, performance and handling of the Elantra/Avante (with the highest trim and convenience package). Leaving my Toyota Corolla behind for the dramatically improved infotainment system. I didn't notice until you pointed it out that the interior is driver-centric. That explains the weird passenger bar handle.
Thanks!
It's Mari !!! 👍❤
Even though the Kia K3 exterior is more stylish, the Elantra offers better safety features.
Lol
Hello from Turkey, you did a good job ;)
hands down hyundai. It is gorgeous in person! I am so happy with my hyundai elantra hybrid limited
I love mine also...I bought the SEL model in silver.
Just got my too🙂
@@nedrawessels733 I’m definitely getting it!
@@Diamond9ice You'll LOVE it!!
The Elantra looks so much better!
Does the 2023 Elantra have a low washer indicator light and tow points underneath? My 2018 Elantra is lacking these important features.
MC is so good , full knowledge. Respect!
When will this be released in USA soon?
Remember Kia is NOTORIOUS for USA models having half the features as the Korean models.
fall 2021
Two cars we don't have in Europe (we have our "own" i30 an Ceed which are of the smaller category and hatchback because it seems we do love hatchback). It's hard to tell which one is the nicest, both have great design and I love the Hyundai new face. The Elantra has a kind of CLA flavor in her proportions, kind of coupe sedan.
5:36 piano black is a trend I don't understand tbh I don't want my car to be full of fingerprints and dust :P
7:30 I'm not fan of the wheel design of the new Hyundai and this trim is really dark, like really! not really fun. The ambiant lights is almost compulsory obviously.
8:13 +1 that's weird to put some "sticker/drawing" I guess that's the modern "blank button" to fill up empty spots :D Maybe they plan to put a little screen there in the future (like aiways does in their U5)
In the end, I do prefer the Hyundai.
It's a hard pick. I really like the exterior of K3, and interior of Elantra. ....
The Elantra it's much cooler when you see it personally! Trust me
First of all nice to see Kia new logo looks similar to my initials NK but KN.
Yes Mazda 3 (or CX-30) if you don't need the extra room in the second row and boot these two cars offer.
The Elantra looks better. But the looks of the Kia will probably age better, look better when old.
This is the exact review I needed. Top notch review.
Thanks for the video it was very helpful i buy the elantra 2023 can’t wait to have it ✨🙌
It looks nice on the outside for KIA
It looks nice on the inside for Hyundai
Can you do a comparison with the Mazda 3 and these two or any one of them?
Sorry, we don't have the Mazda 3 here in South Korea :-(
Have to do a review of the Kia Forte GT2
Loved both cars but preferred KIA .
As for driveability and performance can be enhance with after market parts . No sweat .
Excelente comparación 🇲🇽
The elantra is a million times better. It is newer and moremodern. The k3 design has been around for a few years. the nenew elantra is way better. I will buy the elantra
How do they see these cars as small cars?
I love your explanation, lovely voice 😍
Horses for courses - I find it grating.
We also need the Kia Proceed GT in the US.
I am into SUVs cause I love off-road driving a lot. But when I am buying the car I will go for Hyundai or Kia. Koreans are stepping up their game believe me.
Which engine will blow up first?
what is the price for both of this cars in Korea?
The starting price of Elantra(A/T) is 17,170,000 KRW (=15,460 USD)
The starting price of K3(A/T) is 17,380,000 KRW (=15,650 USD)
They need to put rear multi link suspension on all of their trims.
What colour did you use for KIA, looks very attractive
I ended getting the Forte 2023 GT so much fun
New K3 model actually looks good, the old one was lame, Elantra looks amazing too.
I bought 2020 kia forte gt with 18 miles the most fun I have ever had
Still think the 2014-2016 Forte has much better styling and 173 hp is much better.
