Nicely done Ben. Those kinds of races are often emotionally draining as well as physically draining. I could totally understand why you needed to take some time off from running. I did a trail half marathon this fall with nearly 1000 feet of elevation climb and it took a toll on me too (we have to deal with higher elevation here as well). As always, I love your videos and tune in for each episode. Can't wait to see Mary's experience. I also did the 600 - 400 - 200 meter workout you showcased a few weeks ago. Definitely harder than it looks. I wound up doing just 3 sets and I was pretty gassed by the end (I also did a 2.5 mile warm-up and cool down). Congrats on the 4th place finish as well!

Congrats! This was such a cool video to watch as I consider a switch this fall to my first ultra. I finally qualified for Boston and am running my 8th marathon there in April, but soon after, my switch to Ultra’s begin. “Adventure” is the part that allures me, but it clearly is going to be a painful transition! 🤪

Do you agree that trail running is better for the body in older years? On tarmac I feel always the same pounding and with time I don't like fast paces anymore. Tend more into slow jogging and power hiking on trails.

Nice one. I have my 1st 50km Ultra in Feb but just got a hernia which has made running uncomfortable. Still sticking it out for now. Bit of wait and see but might be a slow one if I get to the start line. Bummed out seriously. Getting old has nothing going for it.

@@ThisMessyHappy Thanks for asking. I took 4 days off to see initially if things got better but Dr says run if I can so I'm still running. I dropped about 1/3 distance but will go back to about 60km/week. Still want to do my 1st 50km Ultra in Feb #Tarawera so I'll see how I go. Getting a 2nd opinion early Feb. No signs of a hernia just the discomfort. I wouldn't even call it pain.
