How did the 500pt Minas Tirith list feel in the end? I have a 500pt game coming up (my first) and I was wondering if this would be a good place to start? Any help would be most appreciated 🙏🏻
@@OllsMESBG76 Hey Oli, thanks for the question. I've been running Minas Tirith now for the better part of a year, and I can say they are a great army if you're getting into the game or a long-standing player. the strength of the army is in its versatility. You have many troop options all with great benefits and positives. For most players, I always recommend Boromir with the banner. It instantly buffs your entire army as well as Boromir himself. Having an F7 Hero with a 6" Banner is insane but add on top of that 6 might and I believe he's one of the Best heroes in the game.
Now to answer your question. This particular list has a bit of everything that can help in any scenario. You got good numbers, with the Boromir banner, the fountain court, the rangers and the citadel guard all going up to F5 within 6" of him. This ties them on fight value against elves, beats the fight value of most other armies and also ties the fight against most mid-tier heroes, such as captains. Denethor being your leader means Boromir can truly go crazy in combat, without the fear of worrying about leader wounds. Now Denethor himself has no might but he is still F5 2 attacks so even in those leaders killing scenarios Denethor can do work. He is also great for this point's value since he only costs 35pts and can have upto15 warriors in a Warband! Honestly, this is a solid list at 500 especially when most won't expect Boromir at this point's value.
My final piece of advice would be to try out all the lower-tier heroes as they all have amazing rules, especially the newer heroes such as Ingold and Hurin. Minas Tirith is one of the few armies in the game that scales well for any points.

In reference to Boromir's Horn of Gondor: there was an FAQ that changed it to the model that has the best chance of passing a courage test. So Helm and a Royal Guard in the combat would mean the Royal Guard auto-passes the courage check (with Helm not needing to take the test at all).

What would you guys rate as the strongest armies at 450-500pts?
Difficult one! Army of laketown is still very good at lower points. Hunter orcs have a lot of bodies and killing power at that points level. Dwarves have good numbers and solid heroes. Do you have a specific list or model you want to use?

@@anyheroicsactually have a bunch of ideas/armies to run but having trouble narrowing it down/deciding haha. Been looking more at the armies with higher model counts (some you've mentioned above) do to their ability to handle a broader range of scenarios (especially objective capture scenarios). Mordor and AoL LL seem to have potential in that regard? Even Minis Tirith?
