    I just got an idea of why the battery lasts a bit longer than one night maybe its because they know that battery gets weaker over time. If they made it just enough for one night the device might only last for 1 year but since it lasts a bit longer than one night the battery will be good for a few years.

    Your video where you deny the existence of aphantasia is insulting and you completely either misunderstand or intentionally misrepresent the information you reference. You also have the comments turned off which tells me you know you've offended people. Stop telling people they are broken and you can fix them for money. Aphantasia is not a defect, it's not a lie, and it's not people being too stupid to know what visualizing means.

    Thanks for the review. I am thinking of getting one. I have the Apple watch with the Pillow app. You mentioned that combination isn't as good as the Dreem band. Is Apple watch/Pillow app better than the Oura ring? How far off is it from the Dreem?

    Hi Jonathan,
    I just landed on this video while searching for a sleep tracker. I was impressed by the quality of review and became a subscriber after looking a bit closer at what your channel is about. Now to my questions. First of all, I cannot find anywere where I can buy/order Dreem 2. Do you know where to buy it? I am based in Europe.
    As I could not find D2, I stumbled on the Muse S. Have you tried out the Muse S sleep tracker? If so, can you please let me know how you think it compares to the Dreem 2 device? If not, could you consider testing it and compare its' accuracy to the D2?
    Cheers,
    Paul

    Since you turned off commenting on the video you posted about aphantasia: do you have it and how to combat it (presumably because you received some less than positive comments from some pretty frustrated viewers I’d like to politely put an idea to you here instead. In that video you mentioned that a student came to you claiming have aphantasia and you changed his mind by asking him to describe some details about the kitchen in his family home.
    I see where you’re coming from with your angle and why it may be easy to dismiss what the student was saying because he could recall information from his memory but here’s the thing,
    People with aphantasia still have memories, they just have no visual representation for that memory in their mind. Hard to wrap your head around? I hear you. It’s probably about as hard for you to wrap your head around as finding out people’s brains could actually conjure up a visual representation of whatever they were imagining was for me. (Really still seems like magic).
    Consider this example using a different visual impairment that might make it easier to understand.
    You’re friend is colour blind. He’s lived in the same house his entire life. One day you’re sat in his living room and he tells you he is colour blind. You tell him he isn’t and point at the wall and ask him what colour the wall is. He’s lived in the house his whole life, the wall has never been repainted, he’s been told it’s red for as long as he can remember. He’s aware that it’s red. “There you go, you’re not colour blind at all” you reply.
    He shrugs it off because he’s polite but he thinks for a moment about how ignorant you sound before forgetting all about it.
    Just because people have aphantasia doesn’t mean they have no memory of things. Our brains just store and relay that information in a non visual format when we recall it.

    Unfortunately this beautiful device is no longer available for consumers. It is still the best sleep tracker and sleep coach on earth in my eyes. Especially the deep sleep stimulation and breathing irregularities detection is pretty much unique.

    Wow!. January 2021. They told me they dont know when dreem 2 will be avialable, it is sold out wolrdwide. It is a shame. I hope the company is not out of business because I really like to have one.

    Extra battery won't be so bad when it's two years old and the battery starts to degrade.

    Thank you for the video. I bought the Dreem Band 2 and the Oura ring at the same time in large part because of your video. I'm thinking maybe I'll return the Oura ring also due to your video and the others I've seen talking about it's innacuracy. My hope was that the sleep quality score would at least be consistent and be able to track relative improvements over time. The heart rate variability feature seemed really useful. But now I think maybe it's not so useful if it's incorporated into an innacurate sleep score.

      Jonathan Levi - Accelerated Learning Expert Hey Jonathan, I love your content and I’ve been following you since 2016. I’m happy to have opened your last email since I’m currently looking for better ways to track my sleep because I don’t believe sleep cycle is accurate. I would definitely wear this DREEM product since it’s not like I have an audience watching me fall asleep and judging me. Even if there was, my sleep is definitely more important. Anyhow, I’m concerned that this product won’t work on me due to my afro. Do you think this would be a problem? I’d love to try out a unit and give a review if I could get ahold of a unit. Let me know what you think!

    • @thenextlayer

      @@tjpeterson44 Hi Joshua! I think it would work, because the "top of the head" thing is just the battery pack - the sensors are on the forehead and brainstem. The only question is if you can smush around your afro so that the battery pack will "sink in" and allow the headband to reach your forehead? Hopefully so!

    Not available anywhere. Why?

  • @rheaandmichael7958
    @rheaandmichael7958 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can it work during quick naps? I wanna see when I hit rem during a nap. I have slept as little as 20 minutes during naps and I'm definitely having some vivid ass dreams so I would like to know how much it can track. My watch cannot track my short naps. And yes I need to nap during the day. I will still sleep at bedtime

    • @luisp.9710
      @luisp.9710 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you think you have dreams and rem stage in 20 minutes?. I think a sleep cicle last around 90-120 min and the last ones go for rem stage. I dont know if some one can skip stages or have vivid dream in a stage that is not rem.

    • @rheaandmichael7958
      @rheaandmichael7958 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luisp.9710 people with narcolepsy absolutely can have rem in under 15 minutes. That's what they test at MSLTS. Anyone who can nap and have rem in under 15 minutes in two out of five naps has narcolepsy.
      This is why I say
      I can sleep in the day and still sleep at night. Also I don't hit every stage of sleep. My PSG showed 0 deep stage sleep while showing 80% of my night was REM and the rest light stage. That's called a sleep disorder. I was going to use this headband to track my daytime sleep scores better than a watch. Which actually shows similar bedtime results to my overnight PSG showing I do not sleep in deep sleep or the most I get in one night is 8 minutes.
      Edit: You understand that the information you have about sleep is for healthy individuals or is an average. People with sleep disorders or even neurological problems and shift workers or people with messed up circadian rhythms can and do miss out on some aspects of sleep as well as they can skip sleep stages.

      @@rheaandmichael7958 oddly I have been going into huge amounts of REM sleep straight away ever since I had the Pfizer vaccine. I had no previous sleep issues. Interestingly, there was a Swine Flu vaccine called Pandremix that was withdrawn in 2009 due to concerns that it was triggering Narcolepsy in children. Apparently the protein on Swine Flu virus is similar to the protein on a brain cell that regulates sleep. Note: I’m not anti-vaccine, just a little concerned in what happened to me.

    So for a person with Narcolepsy will this last for our sleep attacks? On average my sleep attacks can last up to 19 hours.. I would like to use this not only for sleep at night but also during my sleep attacks to get a better understanding

  • @juanappleseed

    Do you think that the heart rate and heart rate variability data are not useful on the oura? I kinda want to get the dreem band for accurate sleep tracking and the oura ring to tell me the hrv and heart rate that track my stress levels. What are your thoughts on the utility of that? Great video by the way super helpful for me! I agree if the data isn't accurate then how much should you listen to it?

      @@samygold100 I wish I could! Unfortunately I've been tied up with a lot of things and haven't made time to set it up. Not that setup is hard or anything, but I've been really swamped and I don't like to bring new processes into my life until things calm down a bit. I highly recommend checking out Katie Type A's review of the Dreem 2 here on TH-cam. She gives a lot of detail and compares to other alternatives so its a good 2nd opinion to Jonathan's opinion here.

    how would you compare it to the MUSE S?

    • @thenextlayer
      @thenextlayer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh wow, I didn't see that Muse finally came out with their Sleep product - Ariel told me about it ages ago, but we haven't been in touch nearly enough recently. I haven't had a chance to try Muse S yet. From the marketing, it does seem that it's more focused on "go to sleep" as opposed to in-depth sleep tracking ("
      Go-To-Sleep
      Responsive meditation journeys that combine real-time biofeedback with soothing voice guidance for Go-to-Sleep support. All auditory content is in English only." , but I'd have to verify that with Ariel next time we speak! Thanks for bringing this to my attention

    Are you trying to get one of the dreem employees on your podcast? :)
    additional question: Iam 22now and want to improve efficiency of my overall working/learning. I got the tendency to cumulate my tasks until the last possible date and will work very focussed then(also with good results)..do you have an idea on starting earlier with working on important projects? :D
