I did run through mine, and am on my second, so I don't think they will outlive me. However, I will note we do a lot of baking, and I haven't found a mixer that will outlast it.

I was about to buy one and I randomly asked my aunt if she had one. She said yes and gave me hers as she said she never used it. Thankful for family.

I was talking to my mom's best friend about how I was outgrowing my mom's kitchenaid and she offered me her bigger one that she never used. I've since refurbished my Nana's Hobart from the 70s and prefer to use that, but there have been times I used all three mixers simultaneously to save time. I'm grateful for these machines and the women I inherited them from.
My first mixer was a Kentwood that my Aunty gave me, it was her mother’s! I now have a cream coloured kitchen aid and I love it.
The KitchenAid is the Toyota of the kitchen. It isn't the cheapest, but it won't bankrupt you and it'll last forever.

I've owned a 1989 Toyota pickup for over 20 years, with over 300,000 miles thats had no issues.

And you are completely wrong about Chevys. I live in a small town with rough roads and harsh weather. I have seen Chevrolet’s take on the toughest conditions and come out clean. But I’ll agree that modern A modern Chevy can’t hold a candle to the classic ones. All cars back then were just better.

Bought this for my ex as an Xmas gift. She previously was using a hand mixer. Pretty sure she loves it more than she did me at the time since she still thanks me to this day lol

A good 25% of why I decided to get married was getting a stand mixer as a wedding present.
As a nomad.. my stand mixer is literally the only thing I haven't purged and it moves across the country with me. I bought it in 2007!
I don't bake extremely often, but this video makes me appreciate my orange kitchenaid standmixer even more now. I think I'll go to the kitchen and give it a hug.

My mother has had hers for over 30 years! It was the first thing my dad built when he started working for Hobart as a Technician, he retired in 2020 after 37 years of service. Still works like new. I finally got my own in 2020.

@@spencerwilton5831 yeah the old ones had metal internal gears, the new ones are plastic gears, and need to be replaced after a while.
@@alwayslookingatself There is a single gear that's Kevlar-reinforced nylon. It's meant to be an intentional weak point and something that's more easily replaceable for less cost. A design upgrade if you ask me. If you had the chance to pick which part you wanted to fail first rather than leave it to chance, why wouldn't you? Especially if you're designing an appliance that doesn't live by the planned-obsolescence mantra.
Years ago KitchenAid was poorly advertised on QVC. The host didn’t know how to use it properly. I sent an Email to KitchenAid to make them aware of this. Next thing I know they had a perfect infomercial created. I feel I helped them along towards great success.
I have a model K and it's been a champ for 70+ years! Got it outta a dumpster 20 years ago... best find ever!

When we were just children we were promised KitchenAids for when we graduated college or got our first real apartment. Mom has her red one, little sister got Seaglass metallic green for her college apartment, I got my lemon yellow for my MBA (which cost twice as much here in Germany) and baby sis will get one when she finishes her engineering degree.

Apple, take heed. Planned obsolescence will not gain you any loyalty. Allow the people to have their old machines repaired and they will keep using your machines.
Except the practical, usable lifespan of a cell phone or computer nowadays is 6-8 years before its outdated by a tech standpoint. A kitchen aid mixer will never become “technologically outdated”
I don't like Apple, but they could buy whirlpool several times over. People (not me) keep using their products.

They are awesome. I've had mine for over 15 years and it has never broken down.
I had to replace mine after 40 years because they quite making parts for it at least they come in colors now. went with the bowl lift model this time.
When Whirlpool bought Kitchenaid, they tried to save money by having the parts made in China. The number of service issues skyrocketed, so they went back to using to the original source in NW Pennsylvania.

Kitchenaid almost went under from Whirlpool as Whirlpool doesn`t even make their own appliances any more, found that out when I had to have my water heater fixed. and the company that makes their water heaters even owns AO Smith.

It's a status symbol because for 99.9% of home baking you can get by with just a $30 hand mixer (or even just a whisk). Don't IMPULSE BUY a Kitchenaid. I've baked macaroons, biscotti, cakes, breads, pizzas, you name it with a hand mixer and my fists, like my strong italian Grandma 💪😎💪. A Kitchenaid WILL NOT turn you into a baker (contrary to the video). If you think this, it's more likely your Kitchenaid will be just a large expensive decoration on your countertop. Try baking before investing in ANY appliance. Be sure you love baking and that it's the right tool for you. Perhaps the thing you will love to bake is best made only using your hands

I love baking. I bought mine 23 years ago and I do not regret it to this date. It went to service once in its 23 years. I use it EVERYDAY atleast 2x a day. Making bread EVERYDAY, and cakes, etc etc. It was not an impulse buy. I bought it because My Grandma had one eventhough she used her hands and her home burned down her Kitchen Aid Still works today.
i’m turning 23 yrs old and the mixer my mom bought before i was even born was still in good shape and worked fine up until a few months ago. actually just replaced it with a bowl lift and looking forward to the next 20yrs with it 🙏🙏

In today's disposable world we need to study products that are heavy duty, made to last, relatively simple, and are maintainable and repairable. Then when major appliances quickly become worthless junk due to unnecessarily complex engineering and fallible parts, we can review how to do it right.
Don't conclude that KitchenAid knows what they are doing. Their mixers are still great because they don't dare change the popular design passed down to them from their predecessors. But back in the late 1990s KitchenAid made combination oven/microwaves that would fail by turning on and burning people's houses down, sometimes killing the residents if they were home and asleep. That was extremely bad engineering.
actually, it is one of the few, maybe the only, status symbol that may be the best at what it does.

I bought my first Kitchen Aid stand mixer in the late 70s. It still works exactly as well today as it did on day 1. I have a second Kitchen Aid I received as a gift in 2006. You can’t go wrong buying one because you’ll never need to purchase another machine.
I grew up with a kitchenaid mixer and we all love them so much that my parents have given them as housewarming gifts to each of me and my siblings as we moved into our own houses.
The loving memory of my Grandmother (a high school home ec teacher) is there everytime I look at her KitchenAid mixer sitting on my kitchen counter.
I got my Kitchen Aid when I moved into my 1st apartment , 20+ years later it’s still going strong !

My dad got one in the 80’s before I was born. Fast forward several years later, and my dad has passed away. But I’m still using his machine that he basically passed down to me. I use it at least once a week. Love the design and it’s usability!

I got my KitchenAid mixer 9 years ago, I believe, when I was 13 years old. It was a birthday gift from my grandfather.
It became a status symbol after a VP retired nearly 30 years ago and his replacement expanded the model color options from just 2 or 3 colors to nearly 50.
My Dad was the one who expanded the color models in 1994. Thank you for mentioning this. He has long since passed, but I was trying to recall a bit of his history with KitchenAid today (my parent's anniversary). I stumbled upon your comment and it made me feel close to him. Thank you for that.
My folks moved and were thinning down and I got my mom's old KitchenAid mixer. I have a sentimental attachment to that mixer because I remember my mom using it back in the 1960s when I was little. It is the lift model and has all the attachments that go in the front. I used Mr. Mixer's helpful TH-cam videos to disassemble, clean, regrease, and tune it.

The Kitchenaid mixer is worth every penny. We use it for pizza dough, baking, bread, and pasta/noodle making. We use the mixer at least once a week. We have had the mixer for 3 years now and we absolutely love it.
If you're not into much dough making or baking or don't do it often enough the Kitchenaid would be a very expensive equipment to buy then for below average use.
I bought my wife one 20 years ago. I’ve cleaned the switch twice and replaced the gears once. It’s still going strong. It’s wonderful.
I bought one in 1987 and I still use it. The idea of having it serviced is a new one to me.

Oh I have a Kenwood K Mix! I love it! When I decided to get a mixer, I read review upon review and seemed that I'd get more for my money with Kenwood. Here in the UK Kenwood has a great reputation for quality with their products lasting decades!

I saved up when I was younger to buy myself a kitchenAid mixer, which in Ireland cost around €530 at the time. Bought it when I turned 13 and I’m so glad I did! My whole family use it and it’s so reliable. I’m 20 now and I’ve never had an issue with it :)
I gave my fiancé a kitchenaid mixer as a combo Christmas gift/birthday gift and first anniversary of living together present. We love to cook together! Both super practical and symbolic of a long life together ❤️

@@twdjt6245 A lot of baker don't really care about the price but what the machine does. If you need Italian buttercream, you are gonna need a kitchen aid. Other brand, their motor just won;t hold out. Spending a few hundred to make a cake that they can sell for a few hundred is nothing.

Used my old mixer for almost 30 years. It still worked ok, but ended up with a kitchenaid from a relative. Absolutely LOVE it. Weighs a ton, but works so well. Looking forward to trying the meat grinder attachment.

My sister is baking bread almost every day and her enthusiasm made me wanna try it too. After kneading by hand for the first few times I bought a Kitchen Aid two days ago. As a mechanical engineer I always pay close attention to build quality when I am looking at things I consider buying and this machine ticked all the boxes. This machine reminds me of lathes, milling or boring machines made in the 50s or 60s. Compared to most newer machines they are heavy, sturdy and feel nearly indestructible. Using them just gives you a sense of trust and feels so satisfying. And so does the Kitchen Aid.

My father gave me his 1978 KA in 82 and I believe it was made in 78. I use it a few times a week and it’s going strong. Wow.
I removed my Empire Red Artisan from the counter (it took up so much space!) and stored in another room. I missed it so much, it's back in pride of place. I don't use as often as in years past but my kitchen wasn't the same without my precious. Mechanical Heart and soul of my kitchen! Loved the video!

The Kenwood Chef is the equivalent over here. Similar planetary motion, addons and cult of personality. My Mum has had hers for ten years. My Grandmother has had hers for forty. I bought mine two weeks ago and it’s the best £350 I’ve spent. They work, they last forever and there’s something beautifully mechanical about the operation. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but seeing the ingredients become bread dough in front of you is endlessly fascinating.

I love these mixers so much! Not only are they, in my opinion, the best one you can buy, I love it that they have an amazing history. And like you said, people pass them down through families! You don’t see that happening with a toaster, or a microwave!! 🤣🤣 What really strikes me about them is that they come in all of these gorgeous colors. I’ve watched a few unboxing videos and in every one of them that I watched, the person was just over the moon excited. One woman called hers the statement piece of her kitchen! KitchenAid is the Best....Got my 6qt bowl lift Professional in 2002, it has worked perfectly ever since...Though I am ashamed my hubby just changed the grease 3 months ago for the first time... followed the TH-cam video and it was easy peasy....Won't let go changing the grease that long again...We lucked out....no damage.... Like I said KitchenAid is the Best....
I have been using my mom's red kitchenaid mixer for about a decade. She doesn't bake or cook much by this point, but she wanted a red mixer to match the rest of her kitchen. I didn't know you should get it serviced so I shall look around and get my lady scheduled for a spa day!

My sister loves her kitchen aid! For some years, applications for this machine where all she wanted for her birthdays. I would never have bought a mixer that expensive but to her it's worth all the money! So yeah it really is a status symbol.

I love my kitchenaid stand mixer. I still have the box it came in when I got it as a gift 5-6 years ago ❤️. Got to get it serviced though now that I know I can!
One great thing of Kitchen Aid is that it’s model doesn’t change so, if you take care of the base, you can always replace some of the accessories years later. My mom bought hers in the late 1980’s and has only had to replace 2 accessories that got damaged while moving homes (not during use). It’s a great investment.

My late partner gave me a 75th anniversary edition KitchenAid stand mixer in '90 or '91. We didn't buy bread again for a year, I'd make it fresh. I had to send it in once to get the motor fixed after about 25 years, but it's been a workhorse! It's my favorite appliance.
We got one as a wedding present a decade ago and it'll still working great. It's not doing 300 cookies a week, but it gets plenty of use.

Oster Kitchen Center is my favorite. Tons of attachments, blender, mixer, food processor, chopper, ice cream maker. I buy everyone I find in yard sales, thrift stores and estate sales.
I have one of those 1955 style ones, along with four of the modern Kitchenaid mixers. My Mom had one when I was growing up, so I grew up cooking with it. She still uses it, and she's 86 soon. She'd laugh if I told her it's now a "status symbol".
Bosch is definitely more powerful, capable, and easier to work with. Kitchen Aids are great, but the only thing they have over bosch is the appearance and cachet.
Is the Bosch attachment capable? One of the big selling points for me was the different attachments i.e. the pasta roller.
@@chengliu872 I'm not familiar with every single attachment for both systems, but there is a ton for bosch too, including pasta roller.
kitchenaid is metal inside and out. and it is far more stable. even at full speed it stays steady.
@@asadb1990 I'm not saying kitchen aid is bad. But, I hardly see why metal on the outside means its better than bosch. If that means its worth spending nearly $200-300 more for the same power to you, go for it... You can get an all metal version of the bosch too if you want. I've never had an issue with bosch remaining steady even it the highest speed.

In Europe the heirloom kitchen appliance is Bamix stick blender. It's a standard wedding gift and people use 20, 30 and even 40 year old Bamix mixers without problems. Unfortunately it's not especially pretty, so nothing that you'd want to display in your kitchen counter.
My kitchenaid mixer was passed down to me. It’s at least 15yrs old and works like a dream 💕✨🌈
When our KitchenAid was about 13 years old, the motor started getting noisier, so I looked up some DIY maintenance videos. The task was fairly simple of removing the housing, cleaning the gears, and re-lubricating it with food-grade grease.
My biggest gripe about the brand is the price of the accessories. Most of the time you can buy a stand-alone gadget or appliance that does the same thing for as much if not cheaper.
Been saving for over 5 years. Finally purchased one a few weeks ago 😊 feel so sophisticated now 😂

Status of symbol? Yes, it’s a great kitchen tool but it’s really not that deep. Most people’s phones cost much more than this stand mixer.

Exactly. I think I rather save my money and pay only $100, or $200, (maybe $300 just maybe) for a Stand Mixer and stick with my current iPhone until my iPhone wears out.

Always wanted the Kitchen Aid mixer but never willing to pay the nearly $500 price Tag (pro line). Then Best Buy had the pro line 5 qt for $225 vs $499 on Black Friday !!! Shopped Black Friday for added accessories (including a storage bag) and I'm in Heaven. I don't bake much. I just want one and always have. Bucket list check off. Love it!
I don't have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer but I do have a Kitchen Aid food processor. I bought it with some Christmas money a few years ago. It was a really good investment. A food processor is great tool to have in the kitchen, especially if you're making Thanksgiving dinner!😁😊😆

The smallest Kitchenaid costs at least 410 Euro in Germany! It only has 275W motor, a Bosch Mum 4 costs only 60 Euro but with 500W motor!
