HOW TO Wrap a JON BOAT!! (Vinyl WRAPPED Jon Boat Install)

- Today I wrapped my 14ft Jon Boat. I go over each step on how to vinyl wrap a boat and the tools and materials you will need!
Boat: 14ft Lowe Riveted Jon Boat 1436
Wrap Material: 3M IJ180 Cv3 - Printed with Latex HP365
Wrap Laminate: 3M 8418G - High Gloss Laminate (1.5mil)
Tools You'll Need to Wrap:
75% Isopropyl Alcohol - To Clean Boat
Paper Towels
Masking Tape
Application Tool - Felted Squeegee
Olfa Blade - Preferably a Carbon Blade
Torch or Heat Gun - For Install & Post Heating
3M Tape Primer 94 - Pre Wrap
3M Edge Sealer - Post Wrap

How long do u expect the wrap to last? Bet it costs $1k so would have to last a few years to be worth it vs paint (although wrap looks damn good fresh installed).
Probably a good 3-4 years depending on how well its kept.

This is awesome! My brother does this for a living and wraps very high end vehicles and has done fast and furious cars. I wanted him to wrap my Jon boat as soon as I was done painting it. Looks dope bro!

@@BentRodBassin I dont know why, but I have never done a video on the little boat, I have used in in a couple of my hunting videos, showing me going up the river to go hunting. But I need to do one, If I get time, I will do a quick video with it and share it with you sir.

Good informational video. Honestly, I would only do this if I had some sponsors to promote and they were paying for the wrap. The bass boat i use on local lakes and rivers has the factory paint job and the jon boat I use on the local ponds is 30 years old and earned every ding and dent for all to see. I understand wanting a cool ride, but, i go to catch fish, not look good.
For sure, it’s definitely an investment to protect the paint of your new boat.
How much was wrap man this is the best looking wrap i’ve seen i have a 16ft Fisher Marine and i need this wrap in my life looks sweet bro well done 👍🏽.

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I don't guess you have much saltwater in AR, but I am in SC. Would the type of vinyl and the other material (primer, sealer, etc.) be the same for saltwater use? Like yours, my boat is aluminum, but welded instead of riveted.
I can’t say for sure on the saltwater application, however people do wrap boats in saltwater conditions! I would guess that it would be the same tho.

Probably not, the vinyl is only 2 mil thick, but it helps catch em!!!
Great video. I'm wanting to wrap an 18.5ft fiberglass bass boat with a matte vinyl. Do you have any idea of how much material it would take, and which vinyl would you order?
I’d make sure you order at least a couple yards extra for bleed, and would recommend a 3M wrap vinyl.
I understand that this was about a year ago however I was looking for a price range on doing something like this on my own Jon boat, could you possibly give me some ideal on how much this could run me.

An estimate on how long those wraps last on an aluminum boat? And what do they do? Start peeling? I appreciate the response thank you very much
I'd estimate 3-5 years, before you see any peeling. Possibly longer depending on how much you take the boat out.

@@BentRodBassin definitely thinking about this process now over painting my used boat. Painting seems more difficult and way more factors that could make it go wrong real quick. Not to mention way cooler vinyls.
If I wanted a custom wrap would you suggest I hit up my local shop to help me out with that, or is that a online thing?
What did you do to get the air out around the rivets?
You can use the corner of your squeegee or 3M makes a rivet brush RBA-3. When you apply the heat, your wrap should conform around the rivet. Hope that helps!

What are your thoughts on knifeless tape instead of using a blade to trim?
Knifless tape is an essential tool for wrapping, I try to use it as much as possible to protect soft surfaces.
