I'm a 71 year old guy and I'm impressed with the video , I enjoyed watching it , I have a 14 foot semi V bottom with 15 hp evinrude, I'm 6'1" and 240 lbs and this little set up flies with just me in it, I'm a serious bass fishing nut , but love cut up in the boat. Be safe guys.
Hunter, I love FEC when the water is high. We used to have the Gator Chapter of the Antique Outboard Motor Club meets there twice in the winter months. We would tear it up with vintage 1950's wood Penn Yan 12' car toppers w/1950's Mercury 10HP outboards. More fun than a barrel of monkeys and yea, we would ruin good stuff too, more fun. Keep em coming...as long as everyone is OK the "stuff" can be fixed or replaced. I'm in FLL...been through a few.
I've got a 1951 Mercury KG-7 Hurricane I'm planning on running on a 10ft aluminum jon boat. It's equipped with a vintage aftermarket twist throttle so it's possible that'll give me enough control that I won't flip immediately
So much to say here. First, I really hope all is better since storm. Prayers to you and your family. Second the view is tight but man I feel like I have cypress in my hair after watching. Good stuff. Third is if you ever read comments on tiller vs console steering, 3:05 shows who the real king is. No tiller left behind.
It's guys like these that are inspiring me to get a jon boat. I'm thinking 25hp 2 stroke would be enough but I don't have any water experience at all. might be a little slow.
@@timlong1462 that sounds nuts. Really cool. Unfortunately the hull I found for cheap wasn’t deep enough. I’ll do it next season. Putting the money into upgrading my car by 50 horsepower instead haha
@@timlong1462I’ve got a 14 foot Lund with the 20 horse (same as the 25 just rated lower for some reason) and it rips but nobody makes a decent prop for it, at least not that I can find, I’ve got all the stuff like the shaft extension
@@munrocoutu6854The 20, 25, and 30 of that late 90's all share the same 521 cc 2 cylinder engine block to my knowledge. Only difference is actually the carburetor. I thought about upgrading mine to the 30, but I think changing your prop or modifying your stock prop actually gets you more speed in 90% of cases. I've actually posted a few videos of mine on here in my set up if you're curious. I went with the stainless Solas HR Titan 4 and gave it a bit more cup, and got TR machining shallow scoops and an On The Fly jackplate. If you're trying to do it cheap there's a lot of other options too. You can always mod an aluminum prop yourself with very simple tools
jeez Louise that stick steering boat engine sounded like the timing advance was way out, mabey just the video and audio but man sounded like marbles in them cylinders wow! anyhow have fun
A couple months ago i bought a 1951 Mercury KG-7 Super 10 Hurricane. It was locked up but i got it running. Apparently these were underrated and actually put out 16-22hp. I've been looking for a boat i could afford, but I'm broke so it hasn't gone well. Until tonight, when i bought a $100 10ft to flat bottom. When i told the guy i was going to put a ten horse on it he thought i was crazy. I'm watching TH-cam trying to figure out what i need to do to reinforce this junker so it doesn't bend in half the first time i hit full throttle
What’s up man 🤙🏻 my last few videos have been made with a DJI POCKET 2 camera The creator package comes with a wireless mic. It’s easy to use and I think it will be a good investment, I enjoy this content and people interactions
Looks like a great day on the water! Thanks for taking us along for the ride, love the pov for the ride along and watching everyone zipping around. Where in Florida are you located? Would love to come up with one of my junkyard skiffs and run with you guys! Cheers!
Be careful out there.&keep ripping those waves. Those flat tip nosed Jon boats need some old school weights out of old house window frames to balance the boat out level. Tied to the side on to eyelets for securing it.
Here is A DIY tip trick if you don't know about it. A half of cup of tap water inside of A clear plastic gallon jug shaken up good. Then release the air pressure by squeezing the bottom of the jug while opening the cap until the bottom of the jug if flat again. the last step let it sit for 24 hours.,or AKA 2 days for phase separation of the ethanol from your gasoline from regular fuels will be in the middle layer of the bottom of the jug. Water will be below the ethanol so from the ethanol part up. Is all pure fuel So slowly pour it out into A separate container for using that part of the fuel only mixed with sta bil & very little octane booster for your point loss regain back some. Could actually raise over regular octane rating from the beginning.
If there's none then add them on to the boats for safety by reasons alone. They help out with that front end bouncing around.&,etc. Everyone down there should know that's how boating wrecks.& accidents happen due to improper those weights should be one in the middle & at the front along both sides fastened down on buckle's.
You guys use sta bil 360 fuel treatment with 0.00% ethanol free gasoline fuel. Even if you half to premix You're fuel to for those 2 stroke.,2 cycle fuel for all of those outboard boat motors that are. And the ones that are 4 stroke motors just the fuel with sta bil in it.
With threaded clips like for climbing just skip that part., or at least try avoid it out on boats. Unless everyone intentionally does climbing with ropes & clip hooks that twist to tighten them down & loosen them up to.
I'm a 70 year old guy and I also really enjoyed the video. 7-6-23 8:45 pm central. Thanks for the video Larry

Always love the tin cans coming out to play . My all time favorite boat ❤❤❤❤
Been following you for a while and adore the fast boats, but man am I jealous for what you showed here, awesome environment!
Glad you and your friends are ok.Hope everyone is able to recover from the devastion soon as it will take time.

Curious how you like it so far. I've got a pretty modified setup. 14 ft semi V with a 25 Johnson and a performance prop and jackplate. Thing rips.

I just about pooped my pants laughing when I saw that johnboat carrying another on top of it in the water 😂😂
Nice, stackin’ dem boats. I like the seafoam v hull a lot
Yall have Allisons and Hydrostreams and STV's and you rolling around in tin boats LOL... I get it they are all fun.
Tin boats FTW
Video seemed fine to me, just a couple glitches. Audio sounds MUCH better w/o that wind noise. Looked like a good time as always.
Florida is the Australia of the western hemisphere. I love it here.
Man I hope the dude in the bouncing boat wasnt the one carrying the beers!

Yeah all mercs from the 50's are way under rated and the 60's are as well but not so far off.

OMG, you guys are awesome just what I would want to do too and I'm not kidding!!
I’ve had good luck with a windslayer on my hero 10, but trying other options. What audio did you go with?
Its just a remote mic with a wind sock. We will see how it works in the fast boats
@@weekendsonthewater I’m betting it’ll work well. I’m trying one of those next.
I have got to do this with you guys. I APBA boat raced for years in F1 and 20 SS Hydro. This here looks like fun. Rick D.

We run the jon boats in fish eating creek and peace river

Looks so much fun💯👌💯

Looks like a blast.
That was straight getting It guys for real no doubt about that one for sure.
Hey bud what creek is that and what ramp did you launch from? I'm in Naples, I'd like to check out that area on my mud boat.
8:04 What a hoon getting the womps up!!!!
You're braver than i am in cypress lol I'm always concerned about hitting a stump
Get a jackplate or if you have manual trim just flip the lever forward so it can swing up freely. If you have trim get a breakaway plate
😂that was to much fun to watch😂
You Florida boys are wild
Ok this is sweet, like trailriding but in boats!
Looks fun. Might start looking for a boat.
This looked awesome, wish my little 12 footer and pocket book could handle a bigger motor.
What creek are you in? It looks like some place on the St John’s river
Beautiful back there
This makes me want to watch Soggy Bottom USA.
My son just bought a mercury 25 HP for his 12’ boat . 😉😂
Yoooo! I live by the Franklin locks! We should link and run the little boats!
I miss going out every weekend on fish eating creek, creek rats for the win
Nylon.,or polyester & nylon fiber ropes. I recommend cables & nylon rope twisted together with the polyester & nylon fiber rope as one.
Where’s this at?
Hell yea brother!
A 35 would go crazy haha
What creek is that I'm from Florida
Y’all got room for one more out there
Yeah man I live in Perry we got hit hard....
I wish my friend would join me n get tiny boat so we can do this or maybe I need new friends 😂
Motor started to die and he turns around to say "pump the ball" then hits a root and continues on. MINT
It's called double strength. Added Cables makes it triple strength then.
Where yall at? I want to come hang with yall and take my jon out when youll take the jons out
Sorry about the damage!
Should have bought a smaller motor an ya could have afforded the other half of the lift on the gm clunker

Tell me jon boating ain’t fun and cheap!!

Why didn't you just tow that boat
Its too tight through the trees with the creek flowing too fast
What size motor does the tiny 10footer that was getting all the air have on it?
With threaded clips like for climbing just skip that part., or at least try avoid it out on boats. Unless everyone intentionally does climbing with ropes & clip hooks that twist to tighten them down & loosen them up to.
Or at least get back to the same.,or close that is anyways.
So sick
