If they do a gender swap Clayface it will just come off as a wannabe Mask of the Phantasm and even worse Taskmaster from that awful Black Widow movie which will be a terrible move on Reeves part if so.
I'm just so sick and tired of "realistic" DC, honestly... it's gotten stale. Nolan did it, he did good with it, fine, but we never moved on from that. The director of "The" Batman even went out of his way to make the flying realistic with a wind suit... I mean... ugh. It's Gotham. It's not realistic nor should it be. Where are the airships? The color filters? The goblins? The headlights pointing at the sky? The constant night and rain? Where's Batman with white eyes? The Robins? The incredible and at times silly rogues gallery we have met in the comics? Why is it so hard to just adapt the Arkham games? Gunn better be delivering the Batman I just described or so help me God.
Here's what I think, and I think you should make a video out of this if you haven't yet because I sense you agree: Hollywood looks down on comics.
Despite their ups and downs, Marvel is not afraid to be bold, colorful, actiony with their superheroes. DC tho... it's like they try their hardest to ground the characters in reality and obviously it doesn't work. It should be unacceptable that the most iconic film version of Batman, to this day, is Tim Burton's, a film made in 1989!
The Joker is the the worst of them all. That's not the Joker. It's an excellent film to raise awareness for mental illness and poses important questions on the system, highlighting the disparities between the haves the the have nots. Yea... that's not the Joker. Joker is not a victim and things don't happen to him accidentally. He's a Machiavellian, murderous, mastermind, who is mentally unstable but doesn't know it nor should he care, because he's a monster. Now Harley is not even called Harley xD I mean, come on. Tell me you look down on the source material without telling me you look down on the source material. And here's the funny part: no live action has EVER reached the level of the source material xD
Matt Reeves, Todd Phillips, Ryan Johnson, even Nolan, all these guys trying so desperately to reinvent the wheel just so they can leave their stamp, their imprint on this work, what they fail to understand is that no amount reinventing is ever going to take away the fact that this isn't their work, it's the work of Bob Kane, Bill Finger, and some of the great writers who have added to the Batman lore over the years such as Bruce Timm and Paul Dini. We need someone to ADAPT their work to live action, not try to create something from scratch disregarding the incredible work they've done.

Batman: Dark Victory. A sequel to the long Halloween. It's revealed that Sofia Falcone is the Hangman.
I hope Robert Pattinson can make some kind of Appearance in this show! Just to make it feel connected to his Batman universe he is trying to build.

Really excited about this. Very much feeling like the sopranos but set in Gotham. I know Matt reeves has got something special again.
Thank you so much for prioritizing this video! I’ve been waiting to gush about it. I loved it all - the look, the tone, the glimpses of the performances, even the costuming. So pumped for this series. I particularly loved your insight about how aggrieved Oz is when he looks out over the still-flooded downtown. So much hurt and righteous anger. It really is a noble part of his personality. You see that protective side of Oz in the deleted scene with Selina, the one where he tries to gently dissuade her from waiting tables in 44 Below. He doesn’t really want her to go down there because he knows the rich and privileged scum that frequent that part of the club. Yes, she’s smart and tough and can take care of herself - all things he admires about her - but he also knows he could protect her more, if she would let him. She rebuffs him, but we never get the feeling he’s being a creep or a predator toward her, just that he wishes she would see him differently. A nuanced bad guy is definitely more intriguing, and I do love villain protagonists.
Re: the screenshot you show at 9:38 in your video: If you look at the map in the Batman art book and compare it to the sequence where Bruce is riding his bike across the bridge at about 2:37 in the movie, I think we’re looking at Wayne Tower in almost the very center of the frame, just from a different angle. I think the camera is placed around “Old Gotham” near the top of the Downtown map. The tower has that distinctive silhouette that looks like the Bat-ears, but I don’t think they would look like that from this angle. Maybe they shifted it so we would recognize the building since it seems more like the ears line up with the bridge in the movie. Anyway, I wonder if that’s a subtle hint that we’ll be feeling or even seeing Bruce Wayne’s presence, or perhaps even Batman’s, in this show.

While we have to wait quite a while for The Batman Part II, this is gonna be a lot of hours of incredible Reeves-verse story. Can't wait for it to come out and I 100% believe Batman will either make an appearance or be mentioned quite a bit. It would be cool to hear people talk about him more even if we don't see him!
The thing I love about the Batman and Gotham universe is that, we can get something like this which feels so rich and compelling, and full of fascinating characters and storylines.... and we don't even see Batman. Just knowing that Batman exists in the background elevates an already great looking show into another stratosphere for me. I just adore how Shakespearean and theatrical all the characters in this world are, yet it remains a grounded interpretation of Gotham. It's brilliant.

It's the Batman Saga. They have to remove the idea of the trilogy from their minds. I want many Batman movies, why not four or five movies or more because I'm tired of the trilogies to be honest. Marvel will make Spider-Man 4, why not Batman as well?
A saga can also be just 3, and anything beyond that just really isn't going to happen for a multitude of reasons tbh.

I feel like the "look at what that mad man did" could refer to either Riddler or the Batman. It could fit with either. I think it's more interesting if he actually blames the Bat for creating the circumstances for the Riddler to exist.

My theory is Mark Strong is playing Basil Karlo and Carmen Ejogo is playing his wife Eve.
What do you about the timing gap possibly leading to Batman II being further in the future man? Meaning that as Batman II is already delayed to 26, it could give them a chance to have it set further after the events of Batman I and the Penguin. Would be cool to see Gotham a few years after where the Penguin takes the universe.

It's 10 minutes that I'm thinking of finding words to describe my feeling about the trailer .... I love the dark tone of Gotham and the trailer is indescribably perfect.

The Snippets of Gotham in the trailer looked amazing. It really feels like Gotham, not just any metropolitan American city.
I really love this trailer I can't wait for it, also loving the look of Black Gate it's very imposing I would not want to spend time there, I hope at some point whether it's this or a future project we see the outside of Arkham, I don't see why we wouldn't but I'm excited to see it, it'll probably be a creepy old building

With Sofia Falcone being in the penguin series could they be hinting at her being the hangman killer in this universe and dark victory being the main comic inspiration for the second movie?

I could easily see Eve Karlo being the daughter of Basil - allowing them to keep him as a villain in the past - and possibly take up his mantle as Clayface.

Say we get a “Batman” cameo in the series, do you think it’s more likely to be a cameo as Batman or as Bruce Wayne? I lean Bruce Wayne, especially with everyone calling out for more Wayne after Batman I, but really that’s a toss up.
Also is it more likely for a Batman/Bruce Wayne cameo or a Selina Kyle/Catwoman cameo? I think Selina/Catwoman.
I hope they get into some other villains like mad hatter or the ventriloquist, they don't get too much attention
Dude Gotham looks crazy, I wish there was a way to make this universe like the Batman universe for the new dcu. But I would much rather them just let Reeves do his thing
I think it’d be really interesting if as an overarching “villain” of the series Harvey Dent became the new DA and opposes Oz and the Falcone family throughout the show
And maybe at the end he gets burned in the fire Oz set in the trailer and becomes 2 face
Time for far-fetched theories... What if Julian Rush is the alias they use before the release of the series for Jonathan Crane ? He is a doctor, has been seen in Arkham... Could see Theo Rossi as a deranged scientist obsessed with the fears and anxieties of his patients. What if Victor Aguilar, the character of Rhenzy Feliz, ends up being a take on Victor Zsasz ? A young man getting close to the Penguin, getting involved in violent acts and murders while seeing his whole life destroyed because of the mob, and going crazy in the process. What if they do gender swap Clayface, with Eve Karlo visibly being the love interest of the Penguin in the series, or at least close to him ? Because of this relationship, she could get disfigured by the mob as retaliation against Oz. Just saying
Funny too that the series seem to involve all these small characters from the Gotham mob in the comics: Milos Grapa, Johnny Viti and Luca Falcone confirmed, but Imbd also listing Dom Gigante, the Gigantes being in-laws of the Falcones in The Long Halloween, as well as Mirti, a hitman for the Falcones.
I can't imagine this show being anything short of brutal, intense and breathtaking. I know i'm setting myself up for celestial standards but... WELL JUST LOOK AT THE FREAKING THING THUS FAR!!!!!!!!!!
