You should definitely start doing box and pack openings, since you can’t go to any baseball games, that would be a really fun and entertaining thing to watch during quarantine, and something you can do at home
As a kid I loved reading the backs of cards, the stats and little blurbs. Whenever I couldn’t fall asleep I would get out a binder of cards and read all about the players. 👍🏼
My dad and I got the chance to go through Dizzy Dean's personal storage building and keep any personal item/trophy/award he ever owned. Still have all of it. Pretty cool stuff
Love the Ty Cobb card 💙always wanted one but never could afford it. The fact that it was free blows my mind and makes it even better that your mom gave it to you 💙
Me too. Glad to see I’m not the only one whose dad didn’t send box scores and standings to overnight camp and ask to go to card shows and games for a birthday present. What a fun video to watch.
I was recently sorting through a bunch of 70's cards I bought at auction. When I got to the 75's I held my breath hoping one was in there but nope. Did pull several other nice Rookies from the box though.
I like how your dad wrote letters to you! Says a lot about him as a parent. I try to stay connected to my kids. No regrets! Be proud of your dad, I know you are! ⚾️!
He wrote me sooooooo many letters and I recently scanned them all. This pandemic, dreadful as it is in so many ways, has given me time to relax and catch up on meaningful personal projects like that.
I didn't realize that I've met your mother before at a book show here in Southern California. I saw her (and you briefly) on the documentary, The Booksellers, on Amazon Prime. Very good by the way. Besides being a serious signed baseball collector, I'm also a collector of signed books.
Your baseball cards probably rival my hockey card collection haha :) I know I always say this but you always provide awesome content, miss hanging out with you and can’t wait for pizza again in Manhattan!
59 Mantle. Always been my favorite. The Carew RC made me chuckle. I got rid of most of my collection but kept all my Carew stuff. That's the only one I don't have. Such a boring looking card, but I need one. And the Cobb. Wow. Thanks to the Mom!
Love the video bro! That's one hell of a top 10. I had a shoe box filled with cards that I bought brand new back in the early 80's. I used to "flip" with my best friend Albert and whenever I won the "team" cards, I used to tuck them away so I wouldn't flip with them again and take the chance of losing it to my friend. LOL. Long story short, I went to a news stand on the corner of Atlantic Ave and 80th St. in Woodhaven, Queens one day to buy some candy and the guy behind the counter said, "hey kid, I'll give you $15 cash right now for that box of cards". Well, to a 11/12 year old, that's ALOT of money, especially during 1980, so like the fool that I was, I sold the box for the $15. Now some 40 years later, I'm kicking myself for letting that box slip through my fingers when I should have held on to them and God knows what they'd be worth today. True story. 😆 PS: Coming to NY in about a month for a few days with my dad to see his brother. We'll have to try and meet up for lunch or something.
Eddie Murray would grade in at 6.5 you could get lucky and the grader is having a good day and you might get a 7. You should send in and then show us. Thank you for sharing
If you have any interest in ever selling the cards, or truly knowing their value, I would recommend having them graded and encased by PSA. Almost anyone (including myself) who is considering spending hundreds or thousands on a card will only buy if professionally graded. It proves authenticity and provides a benchmark as to pricing compared to recent sales. Nice collection!
Here's my Eddie Murray story... I was in Boston in September of 1996 to see an Orioles-Red Sox game. A fan was there near me, waiting for the Orioles team bus to arrive. That fan had a baseball with several signatures, all members of the 500-Home-Run Club. He did not have tickets for the game. He was only there to get Eddie Murray to sign his ball as he was the only living member of the group who had not signed the ball. Eddie Murray refused to sign the ball and barely acknowledged the fan. The fan was heartbroken. The fan said that he never met Eddie Murray before and was not sure if he even wanted Eddie Murray's signature anymore.
Thank you Zack for another great vid. Thank you for showing us the top 10 card collection you have, I have very few and not worth a dime:) I do have a question for your next Q&A, You work in a VERY bad*** book store, what has been the most interesting book mark left in a book you guys have/had? Love to know and thank you again for your hard work!
I remember your collections, the coolest was the old ones man. :) I miss your dad and you man, and your mom tell her I said hi hahaha your own card, cool...and also Rated Rookie-I remember those
Everybody always thinks their babies are the cutest, likewise...the card owner often blindly over-estimates the grades of their own cards. That off-center, dinged up Brett is a 5 at best. Once PSA takes the cards under black light & microscope the true beauty of the card comes out😉 Good looking Mantle & Ryan! Why don’t you get any of these graded?
Love it...especially stuff you've had since a kid. I started collecting Ozzie Smith around 83-84 and started with his rookie card that I got for 10 cents. Still have it today and don't care the grade...I'll be getting it slabbed soon just to protect it further :)
My 4 th video Zack, im a huge collector of baseball cards, that Cobb is beautiful, great video...your baseball card would be a nice add on to my collection.would love to purchase one..
@@zackhample surface issues is what will get you more than anything. Older cards like this tend to be more lenient with corners and even centering but the surface is what will get you in my opinion. Still a beautiful card and Topps project 2020 will absolutely help increase the value. -Bird
You have got some trimmed cards Mike Schmidt rookie, Ricky Henderson Rookie, Reggie Jackson Rookie, Micky Mantle 1959, and probably the George Brett rookie to
@@zackhample well not all, some are in really nice condition and only about 2 or 3 are trimmed like the Mike Schmidt, Ricky Henderson, also another q and a vid
Zack's card collection has a price, but dad's letter is priceless. That was awesome !♥️
Thanks, Jorge. That's how I see it too.

Nice you can share a passion with your dad. That alone is invalueable
So true.

That Nolan Ryan rookie is amazing condition. I collect cards too lol, my entire channel is about baseball cards!
Nice! Thanks for watching and best of luck with your own collection.

I dig it. Also, WTF is happening in Seattle right now?
So glad to have most of these cards
Cool Dizzy Dean card! He was friends with my great-great grandpa and my great grandma used to tell me stories about him visiting her!
Fun!
That was fun.. you have a lot of nice baseball cards….😎
It’s always a good day when you see Zack Hample post a video

Zack this was my favorite video you have ever done I hope you will do another video similar to this. Thanks for the awesome content.
Wow, thanks!

Sooo many great cards Zack! Thank you for sharing! I wish I could send a pic of my 1909 T206 Collection and my 1933 Goudey collection!!

Heh. Glad you liked it.
The Eddie Murray would be like 6.5 or 7 due to the back corner there was a small crease
much less...
Zach! A great follow up to this would be to actually submit your cards to PSA for grading and do a grades reveal video!
Great video Zack keep up the great work it is great to see things outside of baseball well kind of
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
I hope u get better cases for those my man! Respect for keeping it real and raw, I don't grade either, but I'm cringing at the direct contact 😬
Mickey mantle. Edges, corners, surface are PERFECT! The centering is like 35-65 so I would grade it an 8!
When baseball starts I'm gonna be so happy because get to play again
You have an awesome collection. that is awesome that u still have your dad's letter
The Brett is my favorite Rookie of the modern era cards. Just the colors and the player make it pretty awesome.
I have that card in a mini. They made 2 sizes that year
I have it, it’s one of my most expensive cards!
